The guard instantly froze.

Lin Bai smiled and waved at the stunned guard. Then, he strode into the room of forbidden books, leaving the guard at a loss.

The guard’s mind was now a complete mess.

Did he just… offend a big shot?

But… How could a teenager have such high authority?

If Lin Bai was the son of some important person, it would be impossible for the security guards, who knew the art of flattery, to not recognize him.

Could it be that there really was such a terrifying genius in this world who could occupy such a high position at such a young age by relying on his strength?

He simply felt a chill run down his spine.

He really couldn’t figure out how all of this happened, but one thing was certain…

This person was not simple.

In the room of forbidden books.

Lin Bai made his way through the bookshelves. The entire room did not have any windows, so the entire space was extremely dark. Only a few small lamps were dimly lit, giving off a dim orange glow. The room seemed extremely mysterious.

Lin Bai activated his Reader skill and sensed the elements in the surrounding space.

This was a method that he had figured out himself. He would use the resonance between the spiritual energy in the books and his spiritual energy as a Reader. This would allow his Reader nature to automatically find a suitable skill to learn.

Very quickly, he felt the resonance of spiritual energy.

He looked in the direction of the resonance. It was a long, dark corridor without any light. Even the lamps that illuminated the room were sparsely scattered on both sides of the corridor, as if they were deliberately creating darkness.

Lin Bai carefully walked over.

The walls on both sides of the long corridor were narrow, and the echoes were obvious. This caused his own breathing to constantly collide with the walls and form echoes. In the dark corridor, the echoes were constantly amplified, making the room seem extremely strange.

“Who allowed you to come here?” An old voice suddenly rang out. Lin Bai’s hair stood on end, and the aura in his lower body became chaotic.

“Who is that!?” Lin Bai asked with a trembling voice. How could there still be people in this place where there was no sunlight?

“I want to ask who you are, little child.” The person who spoke finally revealed himself. It was an old man in white.

From the magic power circulating around him, it seemed like he was quite powerful.

As Lin Bai pondered why the old man was here, he answered his question. “I am a student of Sorcha College, Lin Bai. May I know your name, sir?”

The old man nodded and said, “Just call me Old Bai.”

“Speaking of which, little kid, this isn’t a place you should be at. These are all high-level books, and most of them are forbidden books that can’t be read at will. The books on the first floor are enough to satisfy any of your needs.”

“Furthermore, how did you obtain the qualifications to enter this place?”

For some reason, Lin Bai had an indescribably good impression of the old man. He could not help but let down his guard and tell the old man everything that had happened.

After Old Bai heard this, he pondered for a moment and said, “To be able to defeat Long Mu, you do have some ability.”

“It’s just that the magic recorded in the forbidden books here is still too distant for you.”

Lin Bai smiled slightly and said, “Don’t worry, Old Bai. I, Lin Bai, have always acted according to my abilities. I won’t act recklessly… As for why I’ve come here, I have reasons I can’t tell you about…”

Old Bai nodded and stopped asking Lin Bai.

Lin Bai bid farewell to Old Bai. Then, he continued to search for the source of the resonance before he finally found it.

It was a magic book with a black cover.

After Lin Bai opened the book, he discovered that there were actually some black magic spells recorded within.

Furthermore, these black magic spells were much stronger than the spells he had already mastered.

“Black magic?” Old Bai had appeared behind Lin Bai at some point in time and saw the contents of the book. “Do you not want to live anymore? The backlash from these black magic spells is no joke!”

Lin Bai scratched his head. He could only explain the whole story of the Purification Crystal to Old Bai.

“So it was Destin who helped you…” Old Bai stroked his beard.” However, it’s rare for you to learn the three types of black magic spells yourself…”

“Wait!” Old Bai suddenly became excited. “Does this mean that you can use black magic at will without any side effects?!”

Lin Bai nodded.

Old Bai looked at the youth in front of him and was filled with emotions. His lips quivered, as though he wanted to say something.

Afterwards, he approached Lin Bai. Then, he gripped Lin Bai’s hands tightly as an unconcealable excitement appeared in his eyes.

Meanwhile, Lin Bai was truly confused. Seeing how eager the strange old man was, he was at a loss at that moment.

“Little child. The younger generation will truly surpass us in time!” Old Bai sighed. “I have a request. I wonder if you can agree to it…”

Lin Bai came to a sudden realization. It turned out that the old man had deliberately switched to a low profile because he needed a favor.

Although he did not know where this old man came from, Lin Bai could sense from the ripples in his lower body that Old Bai’s strength was definitely extraordinary.

But why would such an expert need his help?

“Old Bai, please speak. I’m all ears.”

Old Bai looked at Lin Bai gratefully. Then, he spoke tirelessly.

“Little child, do you know why I, this old bag of bones, am living in seclusion in this dark forbidden room?”

“It’s because… there are no windows here. The sunlight can’t shine in. That’s why I’m able to survive here.”

Lin Bai immediately began to tremble. He truly did feel that it was strange for someone to live in the dark environment of this room.

However, the series of actions that Old Bai displayed next gradually dispelled Lin Bai’s doubt. Lin Bai did not expect that there would be a hidden story here.

“Are you saying that you found this place to live long-term so as to avoid the sunlight?”

Old Bai shook his head thoughtfully. “Rather than saying that I found this place, it would be more accurate to say that the windowless structure of this room was designed for me!”

Lin Bai was even more shocked. Just what kind of person was able to have an entire room of forbidden books made for him?

“My name is Bai Yin, and I have some connections with Sorcha College.” Bai Yin’s words were like a sudden clap of thunder.

Lin Bai’s eyes widened.

“Do you know about the demon realm?” Bai Yin asked.

Lin Bai shook his head, looking at Bai Yin with curiosity and confusion.

“The places you’ve been to before should only be some mystic realms. There are even more dangerous demon realms above these mystic realms. The magical beasts inside are all extremely dangerous.”

“Mystic realms and demon realms?” Lin Bai was very interested in this new concept. Then, he obediently listened to what Old Bai said next.

“When I was exploring the demon realms, I encountered powerful magical beasts. When I fought them, I was at a disadvantage, and my soul was scattered.

Old Bai spoke as if nothing had happened to him.

However, Lin Bai was already extremely shocked.

How would it feel to have one’s soul scatter?!
