Chapter 29: Passing time

Since he was not that tired and there was still time until morning, he worked on creating life-and-death energy books for Caitlin.

In the morning, he went alone to his class.

Once he walked in, he found the girls already there, surrounding Caitlin and asking her questions.

With Seth walking in, the girls quickly returned to their seats and sat down properly.

“I guess you all already met, so I won’t bother to introduce you all. Caitlin, how come you’re here so early?”

“Teacher Maya came early in the morning to give me my robes and license. She also showed me the way to the canteen before leading me to class.”

Seth nodded with a smile before saying: “Since you don’t know how to read, I’ll need one of the other girls to teach you. Can you do it, Lisa?” since Leora and Rebecca were both busy with combat training and Alexa was still in the dark about other energies, that only left Lisa as a choice.

“Of course, teacher.” Replied Lisa almost immediately.

“Then that’s set up. These here are the books for her energy. You can read it to her in your spare time while teaching her how to read. I’ll make it up to you with some energy vials.”

After being done with his instructions, he told them to keep studying before going to help Rebecca and Leora in the training room.

In this slow manner, half a year passed, and it was winter again.

Seth spent most of this time helping the girls with their training. Everyone has stabilized their own sources, but remained in his class and did not report their ascended status because of Seth’s different incentives.

Leora and Rebecca were even getting close to breaking through their first shell. All their classes were now spent in the training room, doing combat practice and getting used to their abilities. After they all found out about the different energies, they were even more convinced they made the right choice by remaining in Seth’s class.

Seth also made another leap of faith and didn’t add his destruction energy into Lisa’s sources but still had the system monitor her, as well as the other girls.

Pearl had stabilized her creation source, and Seth started training her as an assassin himself whenever he had spare time left. The rest of Pearl’s time was spent cultivating and learning how to create new things. Creation was the energy that required the most knowledge out of all of them.

Seth’s sources also reached the second shell. To assure a smooth breakthrough with his perception, he left a small trace of destruction energy dormant in the heart of over a hundred thugs and criminals in the city before activating it all at once using his destruction divinity. This created a great deal of chaos in the city for a while and all the perception energy went to him.

He also amassed quite an enormous fortune by stealing from the entire inner ring of the city. He even started stealing from the kingdom’s treasury.

The second princess, Henrietta, started taking visits every day in the outer ring, searching for Seth, but she never found a single trace of him. She had forgotten to ask for his name that night, and even Caitlin was nowhere to be found.

Maya calmed her thoughts and their relationship also return to normal. She would spend every other night in his room, having sex, but she would also return to her dormitory from time to time. This was her way of trying not to fall too deep into the rabbit hole.

Sitting on a bench in the courtyard and looking at the snow all around, Seth’s mind went back to his parents. It was now almost a complete year since he left home.

“I guess it is about time for me to make some preparations and head back…”, muttered Seth under his breath.

A pair of warm arms came from the back and moved down his neck as a warm and wet pair of lips touched his cheek.

“What are you thinking about?” asked Maya as she supported her head on his shoulder.

“My parents. I’m thinking about visiting them.” Said Seth, grabbing her hands in his own.

“Now? There’s not much longer until the admission week.” Asked Maya, bewildered by his sudden decision to leave.

“Well, the students I have are enough for now.” Said Seth with a sigh. He didn’t even want to think about adding new students into the mix.

Maya took a seat on the bench next to him and said: “Iris will probably blow her top if she hears about it. We just pacified her for our nightly activities. Can’t you wait until after the admission?”

“Not really. Imagine what she’ll do when she finds out I want to take my students with me as well.” Said Seth with a chuckle.

“Yeah. She will kill you.” Said Maya with a nod and a serious face before both of them started laughing at the same time.

“Want me to talk to her? I might at least soften her attacks when she comes after you.”, asked Maya after having her share of laughter.

“No need. I’ll just blackmail her with some knowledge. It always works. Come on. Let’s speak to her.”

“Now?” asked Maya when she saw him sitting up while grabbing her hand.

“When then? Let’s go.”

Maya nodded, and they walked hand in hand through the falling snow. The snowflakes acted like they were afraid of the two and avoided them altogether, moving in a curbed way to fall on the sides. Even the snow in front of them parted ways so that they might pass.

“You know, if you keep doing this, Iris might ask you to clear all the snow around the academy.” Said Seth with a smile.

“Hmph, in her dreams. She can use her fire to melt it away if she doesn’t like it.”

Once they reached Iris’s building, they knocked on the door and stepped inside. Iris was once more behind her desk, looking through some papers.

Seeing Seth and Maya hand in hand, she frowned and asked: “Can’t you two act with some decency? You’re still teachers of the academy.”

“Just because you’ve never held hands with a man, it doesn’t make it indecent. Not everyone stays a virgin for their entire life.” Said Maya with a chuckle as she brought Seth’s arm between her melons and hugged it tightly.

“Give me a good reason to not throw you both out right now.”, said Iris in a dark tone, but her red cheeks betrayed her embarrassment.

Maya was about to continue teasing her when Seth blocked her mouth with his free hand to not make the situation even more difficult before saying: “I want to get permission to head south and check on my parents.”

Iris frowned and asked: “You know it’s only one month before the admission period.”

“I know, but I don’t intend to gather more students anyway. The ones I have are enough.”

“Five? Are you out of your mind? Maya here has over 30.” Said Iris in a raised tone.

“Well, mine will all become ascended, so the passing ratio will still be higher than any other class.” Said Seth with a chuckle.

“Come again when you have at least one ascended in your class and I’ll let you leave. Request declined.” Said Iris and moved to write something on a piece of paper.

Seth smiled and said: “If I bring you two, would you let me take the students as well?”. He was happy she gave him this chance to leave without having to pay with more knowledge. Revealing some of the ascended in his class would not be an issue since he had three that could pass as simple water ascended.

He needed to increase his reputation as well, and for now, he was only known as a sex animal, which boosted his ego but didn’t help with his overall plans.

Iris’s hand froze, and even Maya looked up with a curious look in her eyes.

“Are you saying two of your students already ascended?” asked Iris while looking up again. There was a hidden glimmer in her eyes.

Seth nodded and said: “Indeed. So can I leave now?”

Iris sighed and said: “Fine, but your students stay here.” Then, she thought of something and added: “Once you have three ascended, you can take your students with you.”

Seth barely contained his laughter as he said: “Alright. Please prepare the documents for both me and my students. We’ll be leaving in two days.”

Iris was stunned at her words, but Maya immediately understood and broke into loud laughter. “You really shot yourself in your foot there, Iris. Haha.”

Maya’s words made Iris’s face turn bright red as she said: “Fine. Bring those students here first. If you’re lying to me….”

Seth quickly dragged the laughing Maya away before Iris would burn them both to a crisp. On the way back, Maya also stopped laughing and asked: “Are those the girls you took from me?”. She didn’t consider for even a second that even Caitlin was now an ascended.

“Yeah. They ascended quite a while ago, but they agreed to not report it and remain in my class to learn more.”

“Of course they did. I would… wait, take me in as well.” Said Maya with shining eyes.

“Take you in where? You can’t mean as my student.”

“Why not? You know so much more than me. Aren’t I your lover? Why do those girls get all the good stuff while I… well, the sex is quite amazing. Forget what I just said. I’ll just take the sex.”, replied Maya without even a trace of shame.

Seth chuckled, and they went to pick up the girls from the training room. Maya waited outside and Seth returned with Lisa, Alexa, and Rebecca. He instructed them to only show their water sources and also let the others know they will leave on a journey in two days. He gave them the chance to remain here, but none of them wanted to miss classes and remain behind.

“Show me.”, said Maya as they were walking towards Iris’s house.

After a nod from Seth, the girls covered their bodies in a thin layer of water.

“Well, fuck me. I get Rebecca since she was quite gifted, but the other two as well? How did you do it?”, asked Maya as she clung to Seth’s arm and stared at him, waiting for some tips.

“If you were to think of anything else other than sex, you might do it as well.”, replied Seth with a chuckle. He knew it was not her fault, but he couldn’t miss a chance to mess with her.

“Said teacher I can make my dick as large as you want.” Scoffed Maya back.

The three girls that were walking in front were already beet red from the two’s conversation.

After a long and awkward journey toward Iris’s office, the three girls, still blushing fiercely, were showing their energy manipulation to Iris.

Iris sighed and said: “You girls and Maya can go back. Seth, stay for a bit longer.”

The girls left and Maya kissed Seth’s lips briefly to piss Iris off more before leaving as well. Once only Iris and Seth were left, she asked: “How did you do it?”. She didn’t beat around the bush, hoping Seth wouldn’t just squirm his way out of answering.

“My knowledge is a lot more complete than the academy’s compendium when it comes to water energy.”, replied Seth honestly.

“Just water?” asked Iris back, but Seth remained silent.

Seeing he wasn’t planning on answering, Iris asked: “What would it take for you to add that knowledge to the compendium?”. There was a defeated tone in her voice. She knew the kingdom was in trouble and needed as many ascended as it could gather. Seth’s knowledge, she needed it, badly.

Seth shook his head and said: “I won’t let this knowledge leave my hands. I know what you’re worried about, but I have no loyalty toward the royal family of this kingdom. You also know they’ve been pressuring ascended on joining their stupid wars. I won’t let them blackmail more students to fight and die in their stead.”

“But your students will also probably join them. You can hide their ascended status now, but once their period ends, they will either reveal their status or…” Iris sighed at the end, not continuing her words.

“… Get killed to keep the secrets from leaking out? Who knows what would happen by then.”, said Seth with a dangerous glint in his eyes. He knew that the royal family would kill a large part of the fallen, mostly those that didn’t have any decent backing. They will also don’t shy away from threatening the families of the ones who graduated to add them to their army ranks.

“But won’t your family and students also suffer if the other kingdoms attack? Even Maya might not be safe.” Said Iris again, hoping to convince him. She couldn’t force the knowledge out of him, so she hoped to at least use his feelings for Maya as leverage.

Seth smiled and said: “Don’t worry. If they come, I trust my capabilities enough to protect myself and the ones I care about.”

Iris sighed and shook her head before saying: “Fine. Do what you want. I’ll have to report this to the kingdom, so be careful on the way to your parents.”

Seth nodded and took his leave. He knew the shadow corps will for sure come this time, but he didn’t care that much. It was about time he started putting some pressure on the royal family as well.
