Chapter 5: Massacre

“Sir, we’ve lost him.” Said one man as he showed the clothes he picked from the ground.

“Useless.” Yelled the town lord as he threw the clothes into the man’s face and continued: “Find out everything about him. If you find nothing, cut your necks, and don’t come back.”

“Yes, sir.”

The two men dressed in black started running away to get more information about Seth. None of them noticed a small bird sitting atop a lamp in the lord’s garden.

Seth, as a bird, continued following the lord and turned into a fly before sitting on the back of his clothes.

‘How much time left?’

<13 minutes.>

The lord went through the halls until he reached his wife’s room. After entering inside, he told the maids to get out and walked up to his wife’s bed.

Slapping her awake, he grabbed her neck and said: “You fucking whore. Who was that?”

“Lord, please…” the woman was terrified, but the lord didn’t let her speak anymore as he started hitting her again, avoiding the face.

Seth continued watching the cruel interrogation without making a single move. The woman had nothing she could reply to, since she knew nothing about Seth, but the lord didn’t care and continued beating her until she fell unconscious.

Spitting on her face, he sat up and rushed out of her room. He told the guards outside to not let anyone inside, not even the maids, and continued down the hallway.

Seth sighed and changed back into his doctor’s body. Walking up to the bed, he sighed as he saw her. ‘What a piece of human garbage…’

He turned around and was about to walk away when a frail hand grabbed him from the back.

“Healer, please kill me.”

‘She faked unconsciousness for him to stop.’

Seth frowned and said: “Why?”

“Because if you don’t, he’ll continue torturing me. Please, save me. Kill me.” said the woman, fear obvious on her face.

“Why does he beat you?”

“He.. he will beat me whenever he is angry…”

Seth found the fact that the guy’s actions annoyed him quite refreshing. In his past life, he has seen situations like this so many times, but never really cared that much.

‘A mortal’s feelings are indeed refreshing…’

Breaking the hold she had on his hand, Seth said: “Don’t worry. I’ll kill him for you and then you’ll be free. You just rest and the next time you wake up, it will all be over.”

The woman looked silently into his clear eyes as he said that before nodding and closing her eyes again.

‘System, start feeding me data in real-time from the World Records. Superimpose everything over my vision. I’m taking out some trash today.’

As his words ended, his vision seem to pass through the walls of the mansion and he could see everything and everyone. As he looked down, he was completely disgusted and about to throw up as he said: ‘removed the basement.’

Being ready, he walked behind the door to the room and threw a vase from nearby near the bed. As the guard rushed inside, Seth hit him in the back of his neck, killing him on the spot.

Feeling the negative response accumulating from the dead body, he muttered: “Sorry, after what I just saw in the dungeon, none of you get to live.”

Seth quickly undressed the guard, taking his clothes and sword, before changing his appearance and walking outside.

Walking with ease past all the other guards and maids, he entered the town lord’s office. Faking a panicking expression, he said: “Town lord, come quick. The mistress started throwing up blood.”

The lord sat up from the chair with a pissed expression, but as he reached next to the guard, an icy feeling passed by his neck, and the room started spinning. Seth cut his neck in an instant and the town lord didn’t even know how he died.

Kicking the dead lord’s head, Seth smirked when he noticed the negative energy entering his body. He knew for sure that soon he would get a hell of a lot of positive energy later.

Leaving a line of blood on the office’s floor with a swipe of his sword, Seth walked outside the room and made his way toward the closest guard. Now that the lord was dead, it was time to take out the guards.

Making use of his ability to see through the walls, he easily killed the remaining seven guards patrolling inside the house by approaching them in disguise before cutting their throats as well. Having reached a dark-looking downward staircase, he took a deep breath and started walking down. There were two guards in front of the door to the basement.

They got alert when they heard footsteps, but calmed down when they saw the one coming was another guard.

“Hey Va…” one guard started addressing Seth but lost his head before he could finish his words.

“Wha…” the other guard tried to grab his sword, but he was also decapitated before he could reach it. How could a few mere town guards even compare with his level of weapon mastery?

Not even sparing the two headless bodies another look, Seth pushed open the door.

Inside was a large dungeon, complete with cages and diverse torture devices. Young women were locked inside those cages, their eyes showing no trace of awareness.

Seth moved through the sticky white substance on the floor and opened every cage, but no girl moved at all. Seeing the state they were in, Seth heaved a heavy sigh and started walking out, ignoring the feeling of disgust welling up inside him with every step.

He freed them, but couldn’t do anything else for them. He knew full well that this cruel world had no laws to protect slaves. One could do with a bought slave whatever they wanted. They were no longer considered humans, but property. It has taken a few million years before slaves became illegal even in the previous timeline.

Once outside the basement, he headed for the mistress’ room and opened the door.

Changing his face to look like the doctor from before, he said: “It’s done.”

“What’s done?” asked the town lord’s wife, opening her eyes. She didn’t really sleep, but only stayed on the bed with her eyes closed and heard Seth as soon as he stepped in.

“They’re all dead, but you should still act like the house was just attacked and you’re panicking to not raise any suspicion on yourself. I also didn’t kill any of the girls here, so that should serve as extra protection. There are some girls in the basement whose situation… well, use the dead lord’s money to clean them up and try to help them.”

Once he finished his instructions, he turned to leave, only to hear the woman from inside: “Who are you?”

Seth ignored her words completely and walked toward the main door. There, he turned into a small fly and flew out of the keyhole. Once outside, he flew to the roof of a nearby building and waited to see how the woman would handle things. If he didn’t like it, he didn’t mind coming here one more time to finish the job.

‘System, cancel the link to the Records. Also, tell me what happened to those slaves in the basement during the last timeline?’

<They all died one by one and were replaced by other slaves who shared the same ending. This ended six years later when the lord was overpowered and beaten to death by one of his slaves. >

‘That would have been pleasant to see. I gave the fucker too easy of a death.’ Said Seth as he looked down at his naked junk. He couldn’t wait to form a creation energy source to get rid of this clothes problem.

“Ahhhhhhh. Dead. All are dead!” a hysterical cry followed by the lord’s wife rushing out the front door and stumbling onto the ground attracted his attention, also the attention of other people passing by.

She grabbed onto the pants of one guard and started crying while explaining the situation through her loud wails. More and more people gathered at the town lord’s house and the two guards at the gate walked inside to see what was going on.

One of them didn’t last long before walking back outside while puking continuously. It soon turned into complete mayhem as more people walked inside to check for themselves.

They also covered the basement girls with some white sheets and escorted them outside. Feeling that his staying here was meaningless now, he started flying back towards the inn while basking in both positive and negative energy coming his way.

Turning into a fly and sneaking into his room, he changed into a new set of clothes and laid down on the bed, channeling all that energy towards his source.

In the evening, with a knock on his inn door, he received the energy vials he has ordered from the thieves’ guild. Taking the crate inside the room, he continued the source creation process until late in the night.

‘System, please create a map of the city for me and mark the location of that gambling den. I’m falling behind with the lust source.

Once the map appeared in the corner of his eyes, he changed his looks to that of a rich and handsome young man with blond hair and walked out of the room. He followed the map through a series of twists and turns until he reached the staircase toward the basement of a normal-looking house. Seeing the two beefy men in front of the door, he started walking down.

“Password.”, said the two men, a threatening look in their eyes. While Seth didn’t look bad, he still didn’t look like a person who would frequent places like this.

‘System?’

Blinking once in amazement, Seth said: “All for gold.”. The guards didn’t say another word and opened the door for him. After walking inside, a long corridor with both the walls and the floor covered in fine fabric greeted him.

A tall and slim server came up to him and bowed slightly. She was smiling, but there was a trace of sadness behind her polite smile.

“Sir, what would like to visit today?”

After finding out the list of attractions inside there from the system, he said: “Take me to the slave fights.”

“Right away, sir. Please follow me.” Replied the girl and started leading Seth down the hall. The slave fights were a place where people will bet on two slaves fighting. With the system’s help, he figured he would make easy money there.

After leading Seth inside a room with only ten people yelling bets while two slaves were fighting in the middle, the girl asked: “Anything else I can help you with?”

“How about you keep me company while I make a few bets? I’m sure lady luck will smile upon me with such a beautiful lady by my side.” The girl, already used to these kinds of requests, agreed, but Seth could still only feel negative energy coming from her. He thought about looking up her information, but tonight he didn’t come here for anything else besides some easy coins and lust energy, so he gave up.

The two made their way in front of the small crowd and Seth looked at the two beefy fighters before asking: ‘System, any information on this fight?’

<The black-haired one will win in two minutes and 21 seconds.>

Smiling slightly, Seth said: “One gold coin on the black-haired one.”

Even the server was startled at the amount and said in a low voice: “Even if you bet one gold coin, you will only win 90% of what the people put on the other fighter after the tax.”

Seth nodded, already aware of how the rules went, but he already knew he won. Another employee there marked down Seth’s bet and everyone waited for the fight to end.

Two minutes later, the black-haired slave hit the other one in the neck and knocked him unconscious. The employee came toward Seth and gave him 1 gold coin and 25 silvers.

Letting out a sigh, Seth turned toward the server and asked: “Is there a place where I could bet more money?”

“Hmm.” The girl pondered for a moment before replying: “The largest bets are placed on dice.”

“Great. Take me there.” Said Seth with a smile as he threw the silver coins he just won toward her.

The girl was startled and quickly caught the pouch before leading the way. Also, it was the first time she presented Seth with some positive energy.

‘Money really makes the world go round.’ Thought Seth to himself as he followed her.
