Chapter 11: Chapter 9: The royal dining room

10 minutes had already passed, and nobody knew what to do.

"Well… that's awkward, just standing here without saying anything.", whispered Aiko to his brother Eichi.

"Well, even the king is haphazard, just look at him!", answered Eichi.

In fact, king Wicus was even more embarrassed as Hiroki's friends.

'Damn you Hiroki, because of you I'm already leaving a bad expression on your friends the first time we meet. They must think I'm a good-for-nothing, but I really don't know what to do'

He didn't let the others know about his inner thoughts and stayed calm… waiting for a possible arrival of Hiroki or Gaia.

After another ten minutes, Yasuo asked the king in a rather arrogant voice: "Hey, I'm sorry to bother you, but if we have to wait here until Hiroki comes back, can't we at least get some chairs to sit down?"

"Oh… yes, sure…", answered the king nervously and ordered a servant to bring some chairs.

As they sat down, they used this chance to get a second glimpse of this majestic throne room. Most of the things inside were made of grey marble. There were six pillars, three on each side, had golden decorations. Behind the king's throne was a very big banner, a few meters in size to be exact, it showed what they thought to be the crest of the Ambrose Kingdom.

The background of the banner was crimson red and in black, there was a shield inside which a mage's staff and a sword that crossed themselves right in front of it.

They were surprised as to how similar this crest was to the ones back in the medieval on earth.

But they also used the time in a more effective way, from time to time they peeked over to the queen and her daughters to just "take a look". At least that made them feel as if the time waiting for Hiroki wasn't completely wasted.

After around an hour had passed, after thoroughly discussing it with his wife, the king decided to invite Hiroki's friends to a meal, since it was around lunchtime.

"I bet you all are hungry, why not join us on our meal?", asked the king nervously.

They agreed and thus they followed the royal family to the dining room.

'Wow, what a nice room'

'I bet everything in here is expensive'

Were some of their thoughts.

The dining room was still flashy, but it had less golden elements than the throne room. Though the walls were still made of marble, but this time it was a brighter marble that gave off a calming feeling. The whole floor was covered in a crimson red carped that felt, as if one stepped would on clouds.

The table was in the middle of the room, it was a very big table. There was space for many guests of high status. At one end of the table were the king and queen seated, they sat close to each other, and their chairs were the only ones with an armrest. At the long side of the table sat the first princess Livia, on the opposite her husband, and next to her, her sister Aelia. Hiroki's friends were invited to sit down beside them.

The moment before the meal was served, Aelia asked her mother in an innocent tone, while tilting her head: "Mom, what are Uncle Hiroki and Miss Gaia doing this long?"

The queen's face turned red, even the others on the table blushed.

"Well, once you're old enough, you'll understand.", was her answer.

Exactly at that moment, the door to the dining room opened and Gaia entered arm in arm with Hiroki. She visibly seemed to be in a very good mood, Hiroki on the other hand looked as if all his life force had been sucked out and now, he was just a walking corpse. They sat down next to Yasuo, and a maid brings them their food.

"Welcome back you two! It seems you two had a lot of fun.", said the queen while grinning.

But all she got in response was a sarcastic "Ahahaha" from Hiroki.

Embarrassed as she was, she tried to quickly change topic.

"…Anyways, what did you plan to do, in order to learn your friends some adequate skills and knowledge?"

"Well, I thought that we could go to the kingdom's academy since there they could learn all about their abilities and choose which path would be the best for them. We are even in the right age to enter", said Hiroki, looking like he had fully recovered from his previous exhaustion.

Not believing what he just had heard, Eichi sighed.

"Why would you go to school… if that's your plan we could as well go back to earth…"

"Well, that's true, but the school here is really nice. It starts at around 9 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m., lunch break included.

And the most important thing is, that there are all these noble boys that brag about their parents' money. Crushing their pride is the just most satisfying feeling in this world.", says Hiroki with a bright grin on his face.

But after he looked over to his wife Gaia, whose look with her crimson red eyes had a faint hint of disappointment, he understood that he was lost in his mind for a moment and told them his inner thoughts without even realizing. All the others on the table looked at him in silence, but with their eyes wide open in disgust.

"Ahem, could you please arrange a place in the academy and a stable background for us? You don't need to worry about housing since I plan to let them stay at my house.", he ignored their looks.

"Of course, I will order it immediately.", answered the King.

With just a wave of his hand, the maid, who had been standing next to him, left the room and went on the way to inform the responsible persons, such as the director of the academy.

"May I ask, how you plan to let so many people live in your tiny house?"

"Old geezer, have you already forgotten that I'm also a god, plus I am fricking omnipotent. I can enlarge our house with just a wave of my hand…", said Hiroki annoyed, because the food that was served, steak with potatoes to be exact, wasn't to his liking.

Though nobody had informed the king about that, and Hiroki never even mentioned it, not even to his friends, he just pretended to know.

"Oh yes, I totally forgot. But are you sure you and Gaia won't be recognized by the people?"

"No way, maybe Gaia will get recognized, but who in the world would still remember some guy who defeated a Demon Lord 15 years ago?".

Although Hiroki said so, inside he hoped that at least a few people would recognize and praise him for what he had accomplished.

"Well, you are quite lucky, the new semester is about to start in two days.", said the King.

After the King finished talking, Aiko had built up the courage and asks Gaia:" Ehm, miss goddess, are you the really wife of Hiroki or did the queen just make a joke?".

"No, that's correct, we have been married now… well, for Hiroki it would be 18 years. And by the way, you guys can call me Gaia, there's no need for formalities since we are going to live under the same roof from now on.", answered Gaia.

Eichi finally understood the whole situation after he had put all the pieces together in his mind and revealed:" Ahhhh, that's why, after you came back from this world, you were no longer interested in any of the girls Hiroki!"

"Well obviously, Eichi, I am not some guy who cheats on his wife just because she is living in another world.", answered Hiroki proudly, lifting his chin high in the air and posing with his arms on his waist.

His friends insisted on wanting to know about how Hiroki and Gaia had met each other, but Hiroki didn't want to talk about him and his wife and their past, maybe another time. Thus, he changed the topic. And so, they talk about school for around an hour before leaving the palace.
