Chapter 27: Chapter 25: Training grounds

“Ok guys, are you ready?” asked professor Clarus.

As the students heard him, they returned and gathered at the entrance of the cafeteria.

“Now, we’re going to visit the last location for today. The training grounds.”

“Yes”

“Nice, let’s go!”

The students were excited to visit the training grounds, as they were the most essential part of the academy and it was also its most important institution. As the students followed their professor, they chatted with each other. They talked with delight about their expectations for the training grounds and about what they would like to learn. Some guys even demonstrated some martial arts, that they had learned at home, to impress their friends and maybe make some girls interested in them.

The training grounds were located at the back side of the academy building, thus it took them some time to reach it.

Unlike all the other rooms that were separated from the hallway via normal doors, the training grounds didn’t have doors. As they were at the end of the broad hallway, there were no doors, instead, the hallway just transitioned into the entrance of the training grounds. Though there were no doors, the entrance to the training grounds was decorated with a roman arch, sitting on two white marble pillars.

As they saw that splendid-looking entrance, they wanted to overtake the professor, who was leading the group, and run inside. Seeing that, the professor reached out his hand, to symbolize to the group, that they should stop.

“Before we enter, I have to tell you something.

It’s nice and all that you are so agitated… so eager to go in there and train, but I have to remind you, that you will be here for quite some time, so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to train here.

As for today, I will only show you the interior of the training grounds. So please just follow me and don’t do anything stupid.” cautioned professor Clarus.

“Ok professor.” answered the students, some of them in a rather sad voice.

They entered the training grounds together with him.

“Ok guys, here we have the training grounds.

There is one big rule here. If you want to strengthen your body, or better said your physical abilities, you stay on the right side.

But if you want to strengthen your magic and mana capacity, you go to the left side.

Now each side has its own equipment. On the right, there are weights, and punching bags but also a small space for some spars.

On the left side, on the other hand, it’s much simpler. There is a large space, whose ground is covered with a mana-amplifying formation, that helps you gather mana. And then there are also dummies on which you can test your new or amplified spells. And don’t worry, these are some special dummies so they don’t get destroyed that easily.”

‘Ohhh, so these are like the so-called indestructible dummies, that, in every other isekai manga, get destroyed by the main character, leaving the others in shock…’ Hiroki thought, as he made fun of these stories in his mind.

Just as the professor said, the students weren’t allowed to touch anything. They just followed him, as he was on his move again. They walked straight through the training grounds and at the end of them, they reached another door.

As they went through the door, they found themselves in a large space. It was a rather plain-looking space, as the ground was made of stone slabs and there were no other decorations or equipment.

As they looked into the sky, they were surprised to see that they were outside, as they could clearly see the blue sky and some white clouds. And, what seemed to be walls, were actually other buildings.

“Welcome to the sparring ground. Personally, I like to call it the tournament ground, but that’s irrelevant. This here is the place, where you will spar with your classmates in the future. Maybe there will also be some competitions in which you’ll have to fight against other students, outside of your class.

Anyways, as you can see, all around us are different buildings, that is because we are currently in the backyard of the academy, which is surrounded by different houses, to prevent outsiders from spying on our students.

And if your curious, in the winter when it’s cold, or when it’s raining, there is a formation, that allows us to span a roof over the sparring ground and regulate the temperature inside.” professor Clarus proudly demonstrated to his students his wide knowledge.

Though at first, the professor said that he wouldn’t let the students take a more detailed look around the training grounds, in the end, he still let them do it. Not just because some students wouldn’t stop to ask him about that, but also because there was still plenty of time, as school wasn’t finished yet.

After around twenty long minutes, professor Clarus said goodbye to the students and let them go home, as the first day of school was officially finished.

5 minutes later, Hiroki’s house

“Finally home, that was really tiring. Some of our classmates really are a handful,” said Aiko, as he was laying on the sofa, covering his forehead with his hand.

“Yeah, that’s true. And I am really grateful for your teleportation magic, Hiroki. Just imagine if we had to walk from the academy to this house every single day… I couldn’t do that.” exclaimed Eichi.

“What are you guys talking about? Our classmates are great. I can’t understand why you are like this.” said Yasuo.

He was the only one in their group that made contact with other students, as he was the most social one of them. He had immediately found a group of friends with whom he started talking.

Basically, he spent most of the day befriending those guys, instead of talking with his friends.

‘Well, and just like that the misery begins…’ thought Hiroki.

Though the weight of these words cannot be understood as of now, so we’ll have to wait for a bit.
