A few hours had passed since Jason and Jennifer had entered the Shiman camp. Linus had shown them everything while explaining the rich heritage of the humans that originated from Argos.
At the same time, Linus was trying to convince Jason to stay longer inside the camp because it would be the best for him to advance further.
After all, they had the means to accelerate the speed at which a strong soul connection was built!
This was interesting, and Jason felt inclined to stay longer inside the camp, but that was exactly what Linus wanted.
Other than that, it was not difficult to imagine what kind of techniques could allow the soul connection to become stronger. He could easily gauge why there were so many humans with problems upon fusing with their soulbond for the first time.
Artificially increasing the firmness of the soul connection should be possible, but Jason was sure that this was harmful for both the soulbond and the binder.
Thus he wanted to steer clear of any possible way which would put him or his soulbonds in harm's way.
As such, he acted as if he was interested in being able to learn how to fuse with his soulbonds.
Jason's great acting skills made Linus believe that he had achieved his goal.
Thus, in the end, Jason decided to stay in the Shiman camp, with Jennifer by his side.
He had made it look like he was clueless to everything and that Linus had spotted a hidden gem.
In a sense, it was true. Linus was convinced about the high soul amplification Jason's soul was ought to have.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have bent the rules of the Shadow walkers, in order to allow someone else to stay inside the camp.
In only a few more weeks the Shadow walkers would return, and if they found Jason to be worthy, they would make a soul contract with him, promising to nurture him well.
Maybe the Shadow walkers would even show some leniency and would allow Jennifer to stay by Jason's side, but that was not something Linus was bothered about.
The mission he had given himself was to make Jason stay until the Shadow walkers returned, and the means he utilized didn't matter to him, at all.
As such, Jason and Jennifer were given a room inside his house that looked similar to the traditional building complexes on Argos.
In fact, there was a dojo near the room where he was resting and the two took a look at their room.
It was almost evening, and the last rays of sunlight had disappeared behind the horizon.
Jason was just thinking of ways to kill time when something Jason didn't expect to happen occurred.
"Do you want to participate in the comparison matches we hold on a weekly basis?"
It was Linus who had asked Jason this, and he was not sure what exactly the young man meant.
Despite that, it sounded interesting.
As such, he nodded his head without another thought.
He simply pulled Jennifer behind him while following Linus to the dojo.
There, Jason was already able to perceive the mana fluctuations of a few dozen younger Cultivators.
They were probably below the age of 100, but if Jason were, to be honest, he had no idea how to tell a cultivator's age anymore.
After all, Cultivators at the Ascendion stage were able to live several thousand years as long as they didn't stop cultivating.
The only thing Jason could thus be sure about was the fact that humans on Argos could be around 300 years old.
But that was not what Jason believed when he saw the faces of the few dozen humans or more mana cores he had only perceived with his Emperor Eyes beforehand.
While his golden eyes and the tattoo above his right eye were special, it was Jennifer, who attracted the attention of everybody around her!
However, this was only obvious because Jennifer was not a human from Argos, but evidently someone with three awakened cultivation veins. Her uniqueness was easily perceptible according to the subtle energy waves she released.
Thus, everyone stared at her, marveling at her stunning beauty, before Linus intervened.
He could very well sense the intentions of men who threw lewd gazes at her, along with the killing intent Jason released without hesitation.
"Everyone calm down, please! We don't want to scare away our newcomers, right?"
He quickly announced in a loud voice attracting everyone's attention, before some of the crowd finally avert their attention from Jennifer to look at Jason.
At this moment, they noticed that Jason looked equally stunning, both pretty and handsome at the same time.
With disbelieving looks, some of the men rubbed their eyes in confusion, while the women were now gazing at him with a meaningful glint in their eyes.
This caused Jennifer to grasp his hand instinctively before she pulled him closer to her.
When Jason noticed this, he looked at Jennifer.
He believed that she was much more comfortable with holding his hand than before when they had entered the camp.
Her protective grip over Jason's arm made Linus believe that she was his fiance.
In fact, Jennifer hadn't understood what Jason spoke to Linus this time, but considering that he had been holding her hand, it was not difficult to comprehend what her role was.
As such, she was able to reveal her true feelings while 'playing' her role as a fiance, and jealous woman that didn't like the gazes with which Jason was eyed.
Seeing this, a small wave of jealousy hit Linus, who hadn't doubted that Jennifer and Jason were truly engaged. He couldn't help but feel sorry for himself for never having found someone to be with yet.
Their interactions made him turn envious of the couple.
'Is that really necessary?' He growled inwardly, only to quickly remark.
"Jason, here, is also a human from Argos, but his situation is a little bit different than ours. He was brought to the Manyrs as a small child and was raised in the Julandra region. Meanwhile, Jennifer is his fiance.
They fled together when Jason heard about the Shiman camp. He wanted to know more about his heritage, and now they're here."
Following the short summary, the crowd broke into a murmur that resounded through the large dojo.
The initial lustful gazes of the young men and women changed to respect for both Jennifer and Jason.
Jason's decision to come to the Shiman camp while they were at war with the three races of the Julandra region could be said to be foolish.
But it was also a bold move, clearly showing how sincere he was with the things he wanted to achieve.
Meanwhile, Jennifer's love for Jason was crystal clear to everyone's eyes because she must have been considered a prodigy in the Julandra region.
After all, she had three cultivation veins, was at the Ascendion stage like all of them, and she seemed to be quite young too!
As such, it was a ginormous sacrifice to flee with Jason, instead of letting him to leave alone.
That was what almost everyone thought about Jason and Jennifer, who looked like a couple in search of help.
Little did they know about the truth behind the misunderstanding they had generated owing to their own creativity.
In the end, the few dozen people were not even thinking about the possibility that Jason or Jennifer had different intentions than what they we*re showing.
It might be weird for a prodigy to leave the Julandra region, but love was unpredictable. Thus, nobody said anything about their doubts and believed them.
Now their lewd and lustful gazes were replaced with acceptance and respect for their decisions, with a glint of eagerness in their eyes.
If Jason and Jennifer were leaving their home for the Shiman camp, they were honor bound to show them that it was not a mistake!
