This night mom told me that I should just sleep in the same bed since it was big enough to fit.

But it’s so embarrassing! I can’t just sleep with a girl! Ahhh!!

But I can’t do anything, now can I? We decided to help her and all.

Since we had to share the blanket, I had to sleep on the open edge of the bed, while she was near the window. I couldn’t sleep, so I was just lying in bed more or less.

Her face was so pretty... Though it was embarrassing, I couldn’t stop looking at her face.

As I was looking at her face, she woke up.

I stared into her gem-like blue eyes that stunned me. Feeling embarrassed, her cheeks turned red and she buried her face into the blankets. I could only see the top of her head pop out of the blanket.

“I-I’m.. s-sorry.”

She nodded back.

Gah!! Why did I even do that?! I’m so stupid! Dang it!

Now I feel so stupid...

“Um... B-But are you okay?”

She popped her head out of the blanket. But she looked sad, her eyes looked down. “Hey...?” I said. Seeing my face, she shook her head. I asked her “Do you have a family...?” She nodded her head but she looked even sadder.

Smiling at her, I held her hand and said “It’s okay...”

Slowly tears flowed out of her eyes, she simply cried. I went near her and let her lean on my chest while she cried. Not knowing what to do, I patted her head.

A few moments later she stopped and slept on top of me, I was resting against the backboard of the bed. Feeling cozy I slept with her atop me.

The next morning I saw that she was still sleeping on me. In the morning sunlight, her hair shone and I could see her sleepy face better. I slowly put my hand on her shoulder and tapped on it, she slowly opened her eyes. Once she looked up at me, I waved at her, she then nodded at me with sleepy eyes. Then slowly I moved her onto the bed and got up. She again went to sleep.

I stretched my back a bit. My back hurt a lot, probably because I rested on the back board instead of the bed... But it’s fine.

Once I went outside the room, I saw mom standing there. She whispered to me “Don’t get too attached okay..?”

She had a slight frown. I said “Mm. Okay.”

She smiled at me and then she went to the kitchen. Since I had to wait for breakfast, I went back into my room and sat on the bed.

I simply sat there and did nothing. Once I started smelling the food, I went back outside and sat at the dining table.

Soon I finished all the food and went back inside the room to see that she had woken up and could sit on the bed.

“You can sit on the bed now!”

“...yes...” It was like a whisper, but she had responded.

“Do you want to eat?”

She nodded in response and said “..mm..”

I went to the kitchen and asked mom for food, like yesterday she prepared some porridge separately for her. I took the bowl of porridge and spoon and went back into my room.

“Can you eat by yourself?” I asked her.

She nodded, but afraid that she might not be able to hold the bowl, I tried giving it to her while holding it from the bottom.

But, like I thought, she couldn’t carry it.

“It’s fine, you know? I’ll help you.” her cheeks turned a bit reddish. But then I sat down next to her and fed it to her, one spoon at a time.

Once she finished the bowl of porridge, I put it on my side table, but now the both of us simply sat next to each other, not doing much.

Usually grandpa would be outside, doing his exercises, but we agreed that we should first help her get better at least for this month. And so they also sat next to me, but no one else could see them.

She was looking down at the floor and seemed to be deep in thought. I looked to my side and saw her eyes. I took occasional glances at her face. I couldn’t stop looking at her.

After a few minutes I asked her “Are you okay... being here?”

She looked at my face, nodded and said “..mhm..”

“That’s... good. I’m sure you’ll get better in a month, and soon we can find your family!”

She dropped her head down, but she nodded. “It’s okay... you can stay here till then, of course.”

She nodded yet again.

Feeling bad, I sat closer to her and put my hand slowly on her head and patted it.

I thought she needed it. The only thing I thought about were her cries.
