1338 Sound of His Voice

Empana's gaze was sharp, his arms crossed over his chest. He didn't seem to fear Little Silk at all, or maybe he had something else to rely upon.

Ryu looked toward Empana, saying something the latter had never expected.

"Isn't it obvious? We are conquering land. Don't tell me that you want me to explain that as well?"

Empana's gaze narrowed. He looked toward Ianjor, but the latter seemed to be having the time of his life, the only thing he was missing was popcorn. He had spent the first years of his life losing verbal spars to Ryu, those losses somehow made beating the snot out of Ryu not nearly as satisfying. No matter how hard he hit Ryu, he felt that he couldn't vent his frustration. But, at the same time, seeing Ryu making others suffer filled him with endless pleasure.

Empana was rendered speechless. Why did he feel like this long time friend of his wasn't on his side anymore, was his relationship with this superior of his really so good?n0velusB.c0m

Unfortunately, Empana had misunderstood things. Ianjor didn't care whether Ryu or Empana came out on the losing end of this matter, he just liked to see others suffer verbal losses at Ryu's hands. It was a guilty pleasure of his, it didn't mean much more than that.

"So you plan to continue." Empana said this, and it didn't seem to be a question at all.

"Yes," Ryu responded plainly.

Empana's sharp gaze became cold, his hair fluttering and even the golden chain around his neck rising from his collarbone. He seemed ready to erupt at any moment.

"It seems that the Dream Asura Race doesn't understand kindness," Empana spoke, but this time he looked up toward Mae. He could tell that she was the true Dream Asura. It was easy for Ryu to ignore threats because he likely didn't give a damn about the Dream Asura Race and only wanted this woman, but it would be hard to say if she felt the same.

Mae didn't speak. It was as though she was satisfied to allow Ryu to speak for herself.

Empana cursed inwardly. It was no wonder this family didn't want to see these two together, she didn't listen to anyone else but this damned cripple.

In truth, Empana wasn't someone who was good at talking, he had come here to battle and kill. However, he didn't attack immediately not out of fear, but rather because of lanjor. He didn't want to strain the bond the two had, he really did see him as a good friend, one of his rare few good ones. He just couldn't understand what lanjor saw in this arrogant cripple.

"The Lizard Demon Race has an interesting definition of kindness," Ryu replied for Mae, unmoved. He didn't seem to care to explain the rest, he only uttered this. Empana was smart enough to know the kind of poison pill the previous "agreement" was.

"You're really overestimating yourself," Empana growled, his patience wearing thin.

Ryu's lip curled. "We can find out right now who's overestimating themselves."

"You think that a simple False God Beast can do anything to me? A cripple like you wouldn't understand the disparities of the Realms within the Sky God Realm, but I can tell you now that I hope you try regardless. I would love to kill a God Beast."

The more Empana spoke, the more wild his aura became. He truly looked like a beast in a suit.

Ryu suddenly raised a hand. "I wouldn't?"

Ryu chuckled, and the formation suddenly trembled. In all these talks, the trash squad had already made their way into range for Ryu. The moment the formation activated once again, the Nine Pillars within Ryu swelled as his tattoos glowed gold.

"How about you take a punch from me?"

Empana's pupils constricted. He felt a wild and dangerous aura coming from Ryu, it felt as though a single punch would heavily injure him.

"DO YOU DARE?!"

Ryu's voice echoed like a clap of thunder. Kricsz, who thought he was only holding himself back for the sake of Little Silk, suddenly felt a heavy cold sweat pouring down the length of his spine.

Empana's hair blew back, even the skin of his cheeks being pressed into their bones.

lanjor shook his head. The universe should have never let this little bastard get his hands on some power, who allowed this nonsense? Even so, he was more curious about why the core of Ryu's foundation seemed to have vanished. That should only happen when one's Dao Heart tapped out, but setting aside whether he believed such a thing would happen to Ryu of all people, if his Dao Heart really was shattered, how was he standing here?

Empana, though, was having a completely different thought process. All the while, he had been focused on the favor he was returning to lanjor, not quite realizing that maybe the only reason he was alive was because of lanjor as well.

"Alright, alright, give me a second here."

Janjor finally seemed to have decided he was finished watching the show anwrapped an arm around Ryu's shoulder, leading him a not so far distance away.

Ryu raised an eyebrow. According to his understanding of lanjor's character, he wouldn't do this just for the sake of mediating. This was a man who would rather watch the world burn.

"Don't overthink things, I still hate you," lanjor sneered.

Ryu sneered in return and didn't say much other than to urge lanjor to hurry up.

"Spit it out already."

"Don't rush a blind man, didn't you parents teach you manners?" lanjor snapped.

"I've been blind several times before, and it had nothing to do with how fast or slow my mouth moved. Also, when are you going to tell me what someone would want to do with those useless eyes of yours."

lanjor paused. Ryu had uttered it casually, but the fact Ryu could see through this at all was an astonishing matter. Clearly, Ryu understood that the scars on his eyes weren't self inflicted. But, from Ryu's understanding of lanjor, his eyes were useless. Well, useless to Ryu who had Heavenly Pupils, lanjor only had normal eyes.

So Ryu was only making a joke. He thought that someone had blinded lanjor as punishment for his smart mouth.

Indeed, lanjor's expression flashed with a hardly concealed rage before he suppressed it.

"Stop talking so much," lanjor snapped, "you really love to hear your own voice. Listen, I have something to tell you. It's about Empana..."
