Sylvia walked out of the other room, the noise making Lu Yu jump

“Sorry to startle you” Sylvia spoke whilst walking over, a spring in her step “Zhang Yuan is resting in the other room”

Lu Yu looked up “is he alright?”

“Of course! no injuries just tired it seems, you boys must’ve gone through quite the ordeal to reach here”

Suddenly, Lu Yu also felt tired it had been a long day after all “becoming your disciple... you said I will live with you?”

Sylvia rested elbow on the table “yes, you’ll live here with me” she gestures to the room which although rocky and cave like in places was definitely suitable to live in “ I'll teach you some things whilst we live here and I’ll have a chance to know you better that way travelling will be easier” Lu Yu noticed  she spoke with a gentler tone than before, he was rather suspicious “will I be able to visit the village?”

“Hmm good question... I suppose I’ll have to tell your mother that you’re gone, can’t worry the villagers, especially Zhang Yuan’s mother” she mused and tilted her head back the zabuton rustling “... but after we’ve told your mother you probably can’t return at least not for several years”

Lu Yu began to see what kind of an offer this was, it was a chance at a new life abandoning the old “what about Zhang Yuan? Can he visit us?” Lu Yu sat up and gripped his crossed legs tighter, his eyes seeking an answer.

“ he will until when the sect recruiters come this week... then even if you were chosen you would most likely be separated, not seeing each other for years is highly probable no matter the scenario”

Lu Yu’s eyes widened ‘of course!’

“but...." he spoke slowly “if I get selected won’t we be together?”

Sylvia pursed her lips before speaking “well I don’t know much about your world’s current organisations but if they can arrange recruitments they are likely very large and are spread out across the continent, if not the world. Even with great talent being able to choose your placement takes numerous connections or a position of status and power meaning just being in the same city will be Lucky.”

Lu Yu’s posture sunk “I see...”

“could I... leave if I don’t like being your disciple?”

Sylvia blinked a couple times “of course! Oh, on second thought... probably not after a year of discipleship....I’ll be too attached by then, but! Before then we’ll call it a trial period you don’t like anything Bam” she shoots her arms in the air “discipleship gone! I’ll even let you keep your root!”

Lu Yu still seemed cautious but he lifted head and said “I’ll do it then!... please teach me how.”

Sylvia beamed with a smile that almost split her face “perfect!” She stood up and with bouncing steps reached the centre of the room gesturing Lu Yu to follow “now kowtow to me 3 times and call me master!”

Lu Yu felt a tad awkward as he got down on his knees before a girl that looked almost younger than him and bowed 3 times “...master?”

“Yes my disciple!” Sylvia then offered he hand to help Lu Yu from the floor “ we'll get you that root after we talk to your mum no use making her feel like somethings off”

Sylvia did not let go of Lu Yu’s hand as she headed to the blue double doors she had come from previously, what looked like a training room opened up before Lu Yu as Sylvia lead him to a door set into the right side of the room “Zhang Yuan is just through here I'll most likely send him home first.”

Lu Yu felt Sylvia’s hair brush against him as she turned, he could smell a Lush forest like smell, her hair felt softer than the donkey’s belonging to Mr Zhang and softer than the leaves of the hua trees in the village, for a moment he wanted to Bury his hands in it.

They entered in room in which Zhang Yuan was lying on a feather stuffed mattress covered with a sheet, although his clothes were the same they had been cleaned and mended. Lu Yu sat besides his sleeping friend. “alright! Zhang Yuannnn... its time to wake up” Sylvia called

Zhang Yuan stirred rolling over before opening his eyes. slowly his blurry vision met Lu Yu’s knees “I feel well rested...”

Zhang Yuan’s voice was rough as though he’d slept a while

“Sylvia’s going to send you home” Lu Yu smiled at Zhang Yuan

Zhang Yuan sat up “huh? But isn’t she sending us home?”

Sylvia bent over to face level with the boys “nope! Lu Yu is my disciple now!” she started smiling uncontrollably again.

Zhang Yuan look a little surprised “I’m sure the offer was good but... this is years we're talking about are you sure?” Zhang Yuan looked steadily into Lu Yu’s eyes.

Lu Yu sighed eyelids drooping “you’re going to be leaving this week anyway, and! I’ll get to learn cool things here!” Lu Yu began to show some of his usual enthusiasm Zhang Yuan seemed satisfied and stopped leaning towards Lu Yu.

Sylvia approached the foot of the mattress “I'll have you at your doorstep before you can even blink” she smiled mischievously “ah...” She looked absent minded again tapping her cheek with her finger “I almost forgot, try to keep what happened here a secret” Sylvia pressed her finger to her lips and showed a guilty smile “especially do not mention me giving you a root, however...” She knelt down and rested her hands on her knees “don’t worry too much if you do, worst case scenario I get a few unwanted guests but understand this information is only dangerous: not beneficial to anyone.” Zhang Yuan looked rather worried.

Sylvia waited a while to let Zhang Yuan process her warning “hey Lu Yu?” Lu Yu jerked from his sleepy mindset sat up “yeah?” “do you want to visit your aunty Zhang when you go visit your mum?” Lu Yu seemed to pause for a moment his posture relaxing and eyes blinking slowly “I’d like to” he nods

Zhang Yuan watched this interaction and got out of bed “we should get going” he stiffens and looks round “hang on? How long have we even been here?” he tenses and suddenly yelps “have I missed dinner?!”

“Pffft hahaha” Sylvia was shaking with laughter “don’t worry there’s still about an incense stick of time before you need to get back”

Sylvia stands up and faces Zhang Yuan directly “you’re going to feel a falling feeling and then you’ll be in front of your house... try not to scream” she waited a beat before stretching her hand out towards Zhang Yuan, he tensed a little before she reached him

Lu Yu watched as his friend suddenly disappeared in front of him.

As for Zhang Yuan he felt a rushing feeling before opening his eyes to his home's back door, he gazed around the well kept courtyard in bewilderment, the scent of a forest lingering a while.
