Chapter 7: Chapter 7 – Blood 6

A few minutes later.

I casted a spell called Night Veil, making me and whoever inside invisible. I had to do this, since it would be bad if someone spots me while I was in the middle of a feast. 

I proceeded to move the woman’s head, remove her scarf, exposing her neck. The skin was so white, soft and clean. She used perfume, but not too much, so the smell was pleasant. Good. I liked that. I liked clean people. Seemed like she must be some kind of noble to be able to bathe regularly.  

Yeah, human nobles tend to be fatter than commoners as well. Back in my old days, blood of nobles was really the best. So fatty, so tasty. And if it came from a virgin princess, then it was top of the top tiers!

Ahh...Seeing and feeling the pulsating arteries was again putting a big smile on my face.   

Honestly, who didn’t love this? 

I then wondered if Sera had ever drunk blood straight from the source like this before. Well, based on what happened earlier, I highly doubt it.

Therefore, my plan for tonight was to feast on this woman’s blood, regain a bit of my strength, then go hunt some more and bring back a few delicious humans for Sera. And for tomorrow, I would have to teach her some hunting skills as well.

But first thing first, I tapped on the woman's neck some more so the arteries can pop more. 

I drooled. 

Time to eat.

Ah…

Centuries without food, no wonder why I couldn’t stop salivating. I could smell the blood already through the pale skin. So fragrant… 

So rich!

So, this was what true blood is like. Those packaged blood could never compare!

Any vampire in the past would know, nothing could beat drinking straight from the fountain, feeling the victim’s life force flowing into your body, invigorating your mind and soul.

Ah… such ecstasy...

Thus, not wasting any more time, I opened my mouth. 

“Thanks for the meal,” I then said.

And chomp! 

I inserted my fangs deep into the woman’s neck.

…

Gulp

…

Gulp gulp…

…

Urrghh…

A few moments later.

Urrgh…

This was terrible!

“Sera… Sera!!!” I shouted but the voice escaped my mouth was weak like a whisper.

I finally made it back to Sera’s place. It was just a small room on a very high floor of a building, so I had to use up all my remaining strength to fly up there.

I nearly lost consciousness back then while flying. For a moment, my wings felt so heavy like I was carrying rocks. 

Why…

I didn’t understand.

What was wrong with those people!!?

That woman, not long after I swallowed her blood, my body started acting strange. Instead of feeling invigorated and satisfied as it supposed to be, I felt nauseous. Every organ inside my body rejected it.  

I don’t get it…

Blood was supposed to be the source of all life. But for some unknown reason, hers was like deadly poison. It contained not life, but the element of death.

It felt like I was sucking blood from a decaying corpse, an undead, a zombie.

Something must have happened while I was asleep for hundreds of years. Something messed with human’s life force!

I wonder… was this the true reason why Sera was in that state?

If so… what should we do from now on?    

Oh no…

At that point, I lost my consciousness.

My vision went dark, but I heard footsteps.

Someone was calling me…

Must be Sera…
