(Territory of the Knights' Union of London County London (combination of parts of former England, parts of northern France, and the Benelux countries)

The year 2100

On the outskirts of London, now the county capital of London and the former capital of England, stood a small single-family home surrounded by a trimmed hedge, and its inhabitants spent the next day as usual peacefully.

Adam gets up it's time for the school said the woman inside a couple of times. At the sound of her voice in this house, a certain boy lying on the desk woke up.

Oh damn, my head hurts, I must have had a good party yesterday because not only do I remember anything, but I woke up on my desk, Adam said in a tired voice. Fortunately, my dear mother covered me with a blanket so that I wouldn't be cold at night and he wouldn't catch a cold.

After the initial grasp, he whispered a word in his head as he usually does in the morning

Status.

A blue screen appeared in front of his eyes, invisible to anyone except its owner and persons authorized by him.

Not want to be a boor and risk his life like the old people did walking around with a phone in front of his eyes as he read it in history books. Adam decided to make a good habit of invoking Status only in the morning after waking up and in the evening before going to bed to see if anything in him had changed for better or worse.

Of course, not to mention the exceptional situations in which he learned new skills or improved old ones because not everyone can refrain from checking out a new toy, and certainly not 'Crazy' Adam as friends and acquaintances call him in such situations.

After he uttered the magic words, the usual appeared to him.

Name: Adam Cadrod

Titles: Mommy's Son, 'Crazy' Adam, Beginner Sorcerer, Squire, and 3 others.

Status: healthy

Statistics: Body E-

Mind D-

Soul D-

Skills: Knowledge lv3, Martial arts lv1, Mana knowledge lv2, Sword fighting lv2, Faith lv0.

Talents: none

Innate features: none

Curses: none

Not wanting to look at the more detailed stats, Adam closed Status and began to think. Once again regretting that he lacks innate qualities that would make his life easier and much simpler. Recalling how recently the government started rounding up people with stuff like this for them to work with.

What to do, what to do at this rate, I won't be able to get into the knight's school. I still need to increase weapon wielding and a much harder increase in body stats. I have to hurry with this because the final exam is fast approaching. And I'm not going to listen to those old high school guys about how magical I am and how powerful my soul is and that I'm more suited to be a wizard or a priest and should focus on training my soul and mind.

After all, they don't know who would want to pore over books for hours in search of answers or constantly pray to some God for an answer, mindlessly carrying out his orders. Not me.

I do not agree with such a future, my blood boils with excitement at the thought of many strong opponents with whom I will fight on the way to becoming a knight. I dream of a worthy opponent, my nemesis, with whom I will fight eye to eye, constantly clashing with weapons, and then after many hours of fighting, I will barely win and miraculously escape from the duel with my life, gaining eternal glory and admiration by posterity. What a fight that would be remembered for millennia. That's why I won't give up and I'll be fine. I have to advise my dreams.

Also, spells are so unmanly who cares about explosions and explosions where you can fight with swords and one mistake, one moment of distraction can mean death or permanent disability? Spending hours listening to some old men talking makes my blood freeze with boredom.

But the church on the other hand doesn't sound too bad, I've heard pretty nuns and nuns go, and in Anglicanism, priests, knights, templars, and all church highs can marry. It doesn't sound like a bad idea, I would love to take one or preferably two girls, take care of the house and children or take care of them together if I was lucky and at that time I would fight for our God in a holy war. Doesn't look bad right? I could live with it.

Hmmm maybe? No, don't stop being distracted, stay focused if you think like that, nothing like being a knight, start acting, Adam shook his head, trying to stop the distracting thoughts.

Adam get up it's time for school repeated the female voice immediately interrupting his thoughts about the possible future.

ADAM Breakfast is ready, if you don't answer I'm going in. The voice said again, this time standing in front of the room door noticeably louder.

Not wanting to be ashamed of his condition, he replied immediately

I'm on my way mom, I just need to take care of myself, last night was tiring can you bring me something for my headache Please? replied Adam, now fully focused.

Well, I'll put the painkillers by the breakfast table at the kitchen table, just hurry up or you'll be late for school, the woman answered this time much more gently, knowing about her son's difficulties. She then returned to where she had come from, clearly satisfied with the answer she had received.

Adam got up from the desk, quickly jumped to the upper bathroom near his room, and took a quick shower that allowed him to calm down the constant thoughts and nervousness about the future, thus losing the last signs of oversleeping. Then he went back to the room in search of something to go out. Fortunately, he didn't have to wear a school uniform, so he was free to choose his clothes. He began searching for things to wear that would satisfy his whims today.

He opted for long denim pants with socks and a red checkered shirt, and finally put on athletic shoes suitable for the warm weather outside.

And when he was fully dressed, he began to go down the stairs to the kitchen in search of something to eat along with the backpack in which there were books for classes.

Downstairs, he was left with his mother at the kitchen sink, her back turned to him, she was finishing cleaning the dishes she had just used for cooking.

She looked as usual about 1m 70cm brown long hair dressed for going to work in a long black skirt and a beige top in her usual uniform. On top of it all, she had her hair pulled back in a single braid and a pair of pearl earrings, complete professionalism befitting her office.

As I said, the tablets are on the table near breakfast, I also put you a glass of water so that you can drink the tablet, she said without looking away from what she was doing, thus stopping Adam from watching her finish cleaning the dishes.

Thanks, I appreciate it, replied the boy as usual out of habit.

I know, eat now because you will get completely cold, you always complain to me afterward that you have to eat cold food, his mother said dispassionately, already used to his licks, although she did not show it internally, she was happy with her son's gratitude even if she knew that he was doing it only to calm her down and appease.

Without going into further discussion, Adam sat down at the table, swallowed the pill with water, and then began to enjoy the sausage, bacon, and eggs along with the bread and toppings that his mother had prepared. It is his favorite meal, ideal for muscle growth and strength gain, containing everything needed for a busy athlete and aspiring knight like himself. Just perfection, nothing more nothing less.

As he finished eating and was about to leave, Adam heard his mother's startled voice behind him.

What are you wearing? she screamed in surprise. Come back here and show yourself to me, his mother said commandingly, looking at him closely as she did so.

What are you up to, mom? I dressed normally and supposedly I have to hurry to class, leave me alone.

It's the first time you've worn that shirt I bought you a long time ago, and you remember when you said you didn't like it and I don't know much about fashion. And now what have you changed your mind or maybe changed your tastes said the woman with a clear smile on her face to her son.

It's not just that I'm going to college next year and I thought I'd like to change something about myself, it's probably easiest for me to start with clothes. Then it's time to be confident in your voice.

Okay, I'm not bothering you anymore, good luck in school and I LOVE YOU, the mother shouted to the departing boy.

Yes ... Bye ... I love you too see you in the evening said the boy but he said the last words so quietly that no one could hear him right after closing the door behind him.

The way out was open to him.

...

Unknown to him was that his mother heard them and then smiled pleasantly at him when his back was turned to her. That smile immediately disappeared when they closed the door, she remembered what she had to do today and what she had to face.

The work won't do itself - she whispered gloomily under her breath in the empty house.

...

Adam was about to leave the house on a pilgrimage to school when he noticed a familiar man at the gate of the house. He was tall as Adam but in contrast to him, he looked exaggeratedly bony, he looked as if he had been starving for many days and had a very pale, almost anemic skin color, he also had black straight short hair and glasses on his nose with large shadows under his eyes probably from not sleeping many days. He smiled at him once in a while looking at the notebook he was holding in his right hand.

Hi William, nice of you to wait, Adam said to his longtime good friend. Offering him a hand in greeting. You know you don't have to catch up with me on the way.

Don't exaggerate, you also know where I live, it's not so far from here and what the atmosphere is like inside, besides, the two of you go for long walks, William answered amicably.

And what is the real reason, asked Adam with a mocking smile. When he went to school with a friend next to him

Okay, you got me, you're going to catch me like I've done something to myself reading the exam notes as a reminder, said William, this time not taking his eyes off the notebook.

Probably no problem, Adam replied with a smile, but then he realized what William had said at the end of the sentence, which made his smile fade. exam?

Don't say you forgot again, and what should I do with you? William managed to say without even getting an answer from Adam because he expected it as soon as he looked at his expression.

You've been drinking excessively again, admit it. Even if you are in better shape than me, you should know your limits by now, said William, concerned about his health.

You know me too well my friend Adam laughed all the time looking at the road and also at his companion checking if he was in danger as promised.

As they approached the crossing, William started walking through it without even looking at the color of the traffic light.

Be careful, Adam shouted, grabbing William's T-shirt in front of the car and heading straight for him.

Not caring about the death he had just avoided, William still did not take his eyes off what occupied him. That's why I got you, my knights, he said mockingly to Adam.

But you'll help me pass, won't you? Adam whispered knowingly to William as he crossed the street.

Of course my friend, of course, as always. This time looking at the friend's face with a smile. That's what friends are for.

The rest of the road went without complications, only William tried to hammer into Adam's head the most important information to pass the exam, but as always with poor results. They got to school. When the two gentlemen found the right class in which the exam was to take place in the school building, at that moment the bell rang to start classes.

Can you please remind me why these bells were installed? asked Adam, annoyed by the noise he felt worse than others because of his mana-enhanced senses.

At the possibility of a terrorist attack, it then makes a loud specific sound that cannot be mistaken. The fact that they call every class is just their second priority, William explained to a dumber friend. And besides, you'd stop complaining about it, at least change the purpose of complaining, not about the same thing all the time.

When they entered, the history teacher was already inside and only looked at them from the corner of his eye. Please take the empty seats, he said to them. They sat on the left in the first pews one after the other. Then he started to check the attendance list and seeing that everyone was already present, he began to distribute exams to everyone, starting with the usual formula about not cheating and not cheating. Nothing out of the ordinary for him.

Looking at the sheet of paper lying on the table in front of him, Adam could only think of one FUCK. He flipped through the exam from side to side and pages and nothing had changed as he hoped. He still knew nothing.

I don't know the answer to any question, thought William's only hope, or he'll fail and have to retake the exam, wasting time on practice.

Trying to remember something, Adam began to delve into memories using the learned technique his mother once mentioned, he went deeper and deeper in search of answers, forgetting the basic principle that you have to learn something to remember something. He concentrated on it so much that all sound faded away, and then he heard nothing. He didn't even hear William's whispers behind him as he tried to help him by giving him the right answers.

In the complete silence of his mind, Adam began to hear strange noises surprisingly similar to those made by the system. Notifications about skill upgrades or getting a new one. The sound continued to grow inexorably.

And just as he was about to check what had changed in his status by issuing a mental command, he heard a robotic female voice speaking to him emotionlessly.
