“No, never, I’ve never ridden one before…I bike maybe, why?” The other girl as she hummed a tune waiting for an answer from me.

“Welp kid, hop on cause we need to get going, if you don’t cause any trouble I’ll buy you some sweets how does that sound?” I said lifting the motorcycle from the ground.

“Really! Oh boy! I’m going to get chocolate, licorice, and lollipops! Thank you, mister!” She said running towards me.

Again for someone who looked eighteen, she sure acted like she was a child. Her face composure showed maturity but her body look to be malnourished, possibly before she even was taken. Her head may have been shaved but distinct black hair was visible. Her skin was incredibly pale for anyone I’ve ever seen in my life and her arms and legs were so boney.

There was no way in hell she could have caused all that damage from before. Then again looking at the fire, hellfire was either black, red, or blue. This one was mortal realm fire.

Honestly, I don’t think I want to know.

VREM! VREM! VREEEEEEEEEEEM!

“Hop on kid and hold on tight!” I said with the motorcycle all revved up and ready to go.

“OKIE DOKIE!” She proclaimed latching onto my side as the motorcycle began to move.

VROOOOOOOOOOOM!

As those empty desert lands turned into small town rubble I could feel the energy around the town to be desolate. No one had been there in years as the various suburbs had been completely destroyed and some even crumbled to the ground. Through a few winding roads leading through a small downtown area of small stores, a few movie theaters, and even a museum the closer we got to the Pear factory.

The factory itself was a large industrial building decorated with red paint or at least I hope was paint. Various large guarding towers and what looked to be military tanks on the top of the roof. Whatever this gang certainly had made some interesting finds.

By the looks of all the trucks with spilled packages that had been knocked over this factory wasn’t one for the fruit pears. It was for computers. Big hunky terminals and keypads all run about on the pavement leading up to the factory. But with each passing sign, the more gang tribal imagery was spraypainted all over the wreckage. Heads on spikes, dead animal heads stabbed onto the walls of the trucks that hadn’t been knocked over. Various other imagery showing this wasn’t a place for anyone who wasn’t insane. The smell of people not bathing, dead animals, and fecal matter ruminated the sky.

“Pee-yew, it smells bad.” Said the girl riding with me.

“It sure does kids…it sure does…say, in case I need to call you for something, is there a name I should call you by?” I said taking a detour to the back of the factory.

“Well, I remember my mommy used to call me her little spooky ghost…” She said right before I interrupted her.

“Ghost it is then, ok then ghost, I’m going to need you to stay by my side at all times. No matter what you see or hear, don’t fight back, the last thing we need is you dead.”

“Okie.” She said gripping my sides tighter with each bump in the road.

“Ghost.”

“Yeah?” She said in a very monotone voice.

“After this whole ordeal, I’ll help you find your family, got it?” I said stopping the engine behind the factory.

“Okie.” She said letting go of me as she hopped off the motorcycle.

“And one more thing, my name is Grim,” I said now hopping of the motorcycle myself.

“Nice to meet you.” She said with a big smile.

“Nice to meet you too,” I said checking the remaining bullets in the revolver.

Exactly four bullets, better make them count.

As both of us made our way through the backend gate of the factory it was clear this was the only part of the factory no one had bothered to touch or even monitor. The back was the loading zone where the trucks that were left hadn't been touched in years. Most likely they had all been sifined for gasoline so there was no point in moving them naturally.

Yet as they rotted more gaps were left in the sides of the trucks.

“Looks like we found our way in,” I said climbing into one of the holes in the side of one of the trucks.

Looking inside the truck hadn't been touched in a while leaving there to be so much excess dust and bugs. Even worse was that the smell of fecal matter grew even bigger and greater the closer we got to the truck’s door.

SWIG!

“Ah yeah, that’s why no one came back here.”

“It’s a pit of poop….ew.” Ghost said covering her nose and mouth.

A giant gap in a large area. The hole had to have been the size of a town hall and probably just as deep too. Looking down into it showed so many entrails of shit and piss that it made me want to vomit a lung out. Luckily a bridge had been built to the other side of this ginormous pit.

“We’re going to jump onto the bridge ok, I’ll go first then you jump that way if something goes wrong I can catch you. Sound good?” I said looking at exactly how I would jump from platform a to b.

“Ok, just be careful.” Ghost said as she took a few steps back.

The metal bridge wasn’t too far yet wasn’t too close leaving me with the only option of a long jump.

Here goes nothing.

“HEMPH!”

SLAM!

BING! BOING! BING!

“Not as Sturdy as I hoped for but It’ll have to do…ok…ghost your going to have to j…UMP!” I said catching her in mid-air letting her go back onto the bridge.

As I tried to regain my composure the damn bridge began to wobble with such a great force. Little clicks could be heard as the bridge began to slowly lead to the left.

“Ghost we need to run NOW!” I said grabbing her hand and yanking her towards me as I ran forward in hopes of not falling into the pit of literal shit.

CRANK! CRACKITY! CRANK!

THUMP!

SPLASH!

As the bridge was now gone all that was left was my hand on the other end holding on for both of us. Now that wouldn’t be a problem. I was strong enough to carry a three-hundred-pound person. The only issue was, part of the bridge impaled my hand. The hand that was keeping us from falling into the pit.

“Don’t let go…don’t let go of me!” Ghost said grasping tighter on the hand I was holding her by.

“Hold on…kid…I got you…ERGH!” I said fully throwing her on the platform above.

As she landed my hand holding me began to rip slowly. I had one shot to make it to the top but It’d take every ounce within me for me to even lift myself up. With ghost, she was incredible, but my strength with a hand that was being torn apart was a whole other thing on its own.

“Come on Grim just a bit faster and you’ll…”

SCRRRACK!

And just like that my hand had been cut off. Gravity took its toll. Or so I thought.

I was floating, in the air. Being lifted up slowly by some unknown force as if someone or something was using gravity to lift me up.

And to my surprise it was Ghost. Her nose may have been bleeding as her eyes were twitching. Her left hand shook as if she was using every bit of her strength to lift me up.

PLOP!

“Thanks…kid…I owe you one.” I said taking a deep breath as I was now on the platform.

Apparently, Ghost had some form of telekinesis. Either she was born with it or she got it from someone or somewhere. But that wasn’t important right now. What was important was finding the other girl and then hoofing it out of here

“Grim…your hand, its… it’s broken.” Said Ghost pointing to my hand that was now only half of its original size.

“It’s fine Ghost, it’ll heal,” I said lifting myself up from the ground.

Thank whatever the powers may be she was here otherwise I would have fallen and never would have gotten out of the sewage pit.

As I looked at my hand it began to grow back quickly. Almost a little too quickly. Any injury could be easily healed and I meant any injury. But it’d take an hour for me to die and come back, even with a beheading I could regrow a full on head.

“Hey, is anyone back there, I heard a commotion from behind the door?” Said a gunky male voice.

As the man approached hiding to reveal ourselves after he had his back turned was the best solution. After all, he most likely had a gun he was carrying if he was guarding the place.

The platform was stacked with boxes big and small so hiding behind one of those was Ghost’s best bet. The only way in this area was what seemed to be multiple gates that were left open but had what looked like plastic covering the bars. And he was coming right for us but luckily he couldn't tell who was in front of him. If I wanted to ambush him I’d have to take cover behind one of the gates and come out when I was right behind him.

Perfect plan.

“Ghost, hide behind one of those boxes, And stay there till I tell you too, ok,” I said whispering to her and motioning to her to get behind the boxes.

As she nodded and ran off I myself made it to the front of the gate. Waiting for him was a bit intense but I knew I had to strike when I got the chance.

TAP! TAP! TAP!

“Jesus Christ what happened to the brid…HMPH!” He exclaimed as I held his sorry excuse for a neck in a choke hold.

“I’m going to ask you this, and only once, where do you keep the female captives?”

“I ain’t…telling…you…shit…” He said barely being able to speak.

“Very well,” I said nudging him closer to the pit.

“If you don’t tell me I can’t promise I won’t throw you in.”

“Ok…Ok…down the hall, room three o seven, that’s where we keep the breeding whores…”

“Good to know, now…” I said grabbing his machine gun, knife, and ammo belt right before letting him go.

“…have a safe trip.”

“What?”

SMACK!

“But you sssaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiidddddddddddddddd…”

SPLASH!

“I said I couldn't promise you didn’t I,” I said cocking the gun and wrapping the belt on me.

“Ghost, come out,” I said motioning to her to come out.

As soon as she heard me she nodded her head and began running towards me. Almost skipping as she ran.

“Did you get the bad guy?” Ghost said with a big smile.

“Yeah, yeah I did, now come on, we need to go find what we're looking for.” I said walking towards the gate with Ghost following suit.

With each passage of the gates, the dirtier and rugged the walls became. Even more so was how narrow they were becoming. After what felt like walking through such a large loading zone. Noise could be heard coming from the other side of one of the doorways. The doors themselves had been torn off leaving anyone to take a peak through the rooms.

With a quick glance, the area was a giant hallway filled with various doors and various people coming in and out of them. Shooting my gun would only cause there to be more attention towards me and worse I had someone I was trying to care of.

This was the first time for me when I wasn’t in complete control of the situation. The fear of death wasn’t an issue, but rather the fear of death of someone else. A complete stranger, someone who I had never known. I knew nothing about her and originally wanted to leave her for dead. But I couldn’t do it. Usually, other me’s words never got to me. But this time they did.

Or did it?

Maybe deep down no matter what I try to tell myself about the rescue of girls maybe…just maybe…I can’t see a teenage girl being hurt. Because if I did…I’d be like the monsters that took her away.

But by now…I’m far worse than they’d ever be.

My only salvation is making up for the lives I ended…is to help those I deemed worthy of being saved?

How twisted am I?

I don’t want to answer that.

(ATTENTION EVERYONE, IT’S LUNCHTIME, COME AND GET YOUR GRUB WHILE IT’S HOT!)

As the intercom played all the men came out of the rooms and began walking to the big door at the end of the hall.

Looking down at the corridor there was now only one man patrolling the halls. The rest had all left. As he went back and forth the only thing I could think to do was bolt as soon as they had their backs turned.

TAP! TAP! TAP!

“Is someone the…ACK! ACK! ACK!” They proclaimed as blood oozed out of there throat as they gasped for air.

“Let’s see here, room three o five, three of six, and here it is…three o seven,” I said opening the door.

I wish I never opened that door.

—————————————————————————————————

Sure I knew that these gangs were often demented and did awful things. But this, this was beyond anything I had ever seen.

The room was large and dirty, the walls covered in mold, fecal matter, and a clear white substance that I didn't even want to imagine. There were beds divided by curtains with some curtains that were crusty.

That was even the worst part. Far from it.

The man I dumped into the pit called it the people who went in here the breeding whores. I could only imagine what they were doing to women here but this was beyond anything I had ever seen.

Naked battered women, many of them of various ages, ethnicities, and even height all hung from metallic hooks. Held by harnesses around their waists as their arms and legs had been sliced off leaving nothing but lumps. In all their eyes they looked as if they were on drugs barely breathing or mumbling things incoherently. Even worse was that they were all labeled with markers marking lines which I could only assume was how many they were used.

“I think I’m going to be sick…BLAH!” I said right before puking everything that I had eaten the day prior.

Looking back up I could feel my stomach revel in pain but I had to press forward. Within a quick glance, I could see that none of the women on the hooks were the girl I was looking for. But within the corner of my eye lay a cage, multiple cages, and there sat the girl I was looking for scared for her life. As she shivered I could tell she had seen somethings no human being should ever see. But she had no marks on her and was still in that garment that she was in before. She was safe and okay. I couldn’t say much for all the other women. Could any of them have been saved or was it all too late for them?

I didn’t want to know.

“Hey, Angela, I’m here to get you out of here, your dad sent me, are you okay?” I said smashing the lock on the cage.

“Yes…I’m ok…please hurry.” She said softly as she backed away from the cage.

CLU-CHUNK!

“It’s open, can you walk?” I said getting her out of the cage slowly.

“Yes I can…dear god…” She said seeing all the hung-up women in the room.

“Close your eyes, I’ll guide you out, just keep quiet,” I said grabbing her and leading her out of the room.

As I walked out of the room I could see Ghost looking at all the bodies. I had nearly forgotten all about her. I just hoped she wasnt going to be as scarred as I had been from all of this.

“Ghost come on, we need to leave now,” I said motioning for us to leave.

She didn’t say anything, all she did was walk out the door. She began to walk faster with me trying to keep track of her.

—————————————————————————————————

After seeing the grizzly sight of what they do to women in this place and rescuing the girl Angela I could only think about escaping. But instead, here I was following Ghost. She kept walking down the hallway without saying a word. Passing more hallways completely empty until she stopped at the third large door in the third hallway we had walked through.

God, what the hell?

“Ghost what are you doing?!? We need to find a way out not go directly towards them!?!” I whispered aggressively.

“What’s happening?” Said Angela with her eyes still closed.

“You can open your eyes, sweetie...Ghost what are you…oh god?” I said as she walked to the door labeled lunch room.

As the doors opened the smell of meat littered the giant area. It was one of the loading spaces converted to a giant lunch room. Long desks and chairs littered the space as all the men laughed and ate from buckets of food. The lights in the building were all being powered by a giant generator that rang throughout the entire room.

“Ghost we need to leave now…” I said being interrupted by her hand in my face.

“You…you…YOU FUCKING BASTARDS!!!” Screamed ghost with an earth-shattering pitch that had involved some kind of psychic ability.

As all the men began to cover their ears each and every one of them jittered until all at once they all stood up screaming. Their bodies growing large bumps as they tried to move and keep their hands on their ears.

“Make it STTTOOOPPPPPPPPP!!!”

BOOM!

“STOP IT PLEASSSSEEEEEEE!!!”

BOOM!

“I CAN’ T TAKE IIIIIIITTTTTTTTT!!!”

BOOM!

With each scream of the men, all of them began to combust into tiny chunks. It was like someone had put a bomb in all of them and let it detonate.

The room began to explode with large amounts of blood, flesh, and organs splattering all over the room. It was like it was raining blood and guts the more we stood there. Each man lit up like some kind of firework only messier than any firework I had ever seen.

And Ghost kept screaming a scream of someone in pain. Almost like a mix of a cry for help and anger.

It truly was a sight to behold.
