Chapter 1442: An Absolute Gem of A Man

“Don’t worry, I’ll help you clear up the situation,” Yan Su said. “You helped me last time and Mo Liuxi said that he would still keep his promise.”

“He did? Then I don’t have to worry.” Ji Nuanyi was a little surprised and smiled.

“What did he promise you?” Yan Su asked curiously.

“He didn’t tell you? Since I matchmade both of you there, he said he would help me win the Best Actress Award in Venice.” Ji Nuanyi smiled.

“He’s crazy! Doesn’t he have any shame?” Yan Su sighed.

“You’ll have to see it to believe it. You’ve never seen him act in a scene—he’s really talented in acting,” Ji Nuanyi said seriously. “As an actor, he is an absolute gem of a man.”

“To women, whether or not a man is considered a gem by others is not important. The most important thing for her is that he treats her well.” Yan Su smiled and nodded. “I discussed last night’s situation with Luosang—she’ll clear up the misunderstanding on your behalf. As celebrities, there’s no way we can avoid being involved in rumors, but I think it’s important that we clear up all misunderstandings. Mr. Xiao might be angry at first, but he’s a forgiving person—he’ll forget about it eventually. I need to go now, but if there’s anything you need help with, feel free to look me up.”

“Thank you.”

Heading towards the door, Yan Su thought for a moment before adding, “I don’t know if you realize it, but I think you should keep a distance from Brother Cheng…”

“You mean about him liking me?” Ji Nuanyi had hit the bullseye. She paused, contemplating for a bit before continuing, “He confessed to me last night.”

Yan Su was surprised. She did not expect Ji Nuanyi to confide in her.

“We might have had too much to drink last night. We were all in a good mood because of the box office results, but I rejected him and told him that we would only stay as co-workers in the future. But there’s still ongoing promotions for our current movie, and since both of us are also the main leads…” Ji Nuanyi shrugged weakly.

“I understand. I’ll leave now.” Yan Su nodded seriously. She felt helpless too. Cheng Sheng was a top actor; the man of many people’s dreams. Although being 38 years old, he was quite a good match for Ji Nuanyi. Unfortunately, she already had a boyfriend. It was not a good thing to intervene in someone else’s relationship.

While waiting for the elevator, Yan Su checked the time—it was ten-thirty. Since she was already out, she thought that she might as well head to the restaurant to buy some breakfast before heading back.

Just as she was about to leave after getting her food, she met Shi Xiang’s manager, Chen Chen.

She bowed to greet Chen Chen as he stopped in front of her, looking serious. “Miss Yan, may I have a word with you?”

Yan Su wondered. “If it’s about Shi Xiang…”

“Please tell Mo Liuxi to stop provoking him.”

“When the production team split both of you up to promote the movie separately, Shi Xiang was relieved.” Chen Chen sighed. “You were always in his heart, but he probably felt that he wasn’t right for you—that’s why he only wanted to stay as friends. When both of you met in Venice, he simply wanted to talk to you as a friend. He was also very careful to avoid showing too much concern for you. Last night, when he wanted to give you an apple, he even went and gave everyone else one too. He tried his best to contain his feelings, and yet Mo Liuxi continued to provoke him. His feelings had already been hurt before. Although he may look glamorous on the outside, on the inside, he’s a real softy.”

“I don’t know what he saw last night, but when he came home, he downed five bottles of red wine and was almost sent to the hospital from gastric pain.” Chen Chen fixed his gaze on her.

Yan Su looked at him in shock.

“He might have betrayed you in the past, and that was indeed his mistake, but he did that in hopes of giving you a better future.” Chen Chen sighed. “The only thing I’m afraid of now is that he would get pushed to the edge and down the wrong path.”
