Mo Liuxi kept quiet.
Luosang smirked as she said, “So you like chicks from Hunan, huh? Those spicy girls. They’re quite outgoing aren’t they? Maybe they’re the only ones who can control you.”
Mo Liuxi was speechless. It took him a while to reply. “So only Hunan has preserved meats now?”
Luosang blinked. The thought never entered her mind. She had just had a dish with preserved meat at a restaurant serving Hunan cuisine, so she just assumed that he came back from there. “Then… is she from Hubei or not?”
Mo Liuxi was speechless.
Nian Junting walked over and patted her shoulders, “Who cares where she’s from—the meat looks like it’s smoked well. Let’s have some for dinner tonight.”
He wasn’t going to tell her. If Luosang found out that her younger brother was dating her best friend, she would freak out.
When they went in, Mo Liuxi ran over and hugged Little Apple affectionately. Seeing Little Apple reminded of his daughter and he gave him a big fat red packet.
Luosang was shocked when she saw the red packet. “Why did you put so much in there? You didn’t even give as much for his hundredth-day celebration.”
“I made more money this year,” Mo Liuxi said nonchalantly. “Just keep it.”
“Why do I feel like you’re a lot more caring after coming back from your girlfriend’s place?” Luosang remarked. She felt as though she had just watched her own son grow up. “You were gone for quite a long time—it’s already the seventh day of the Lunar New Year.”
“Yeah, I stayed with my girlfriend’s parents for a couple of days after she left,” Mo Liuxi said casually as he fed Little Apple.
Luosang kept quiet.
Her eyes widened in disbelief. It took a while to process everything before she asked, “You mean to say that you stayed at her place even after she left?”

“Yeah,” Mo Liuxi answered. “They’re eventually going to become my father and mother-in-law anyway. Is it strange to be spending time together like that?”
Luosang gave him a thumbs up. “Good on you. Your skills are comparable to your brother-in-law’s.”
“You can just talk about him. Why do you have to bring me into the picture?” Nian Junting said as he continued playing with her fingers. He had to admit that the guy was almost as thick-skinned as he was.
As they were talking, Mo Liuxi’s phone rang. He quickly picked up and said gently, “Hello? Ma… I’m already in Xia City. I’m eating at my sister’s place. I have to thank you and Pa for taking care of me these past few days. I’ll go back and visit both of you when the holidays come around. Bye!”
Luosang’s jaw dropped. Was this the same stone-cold brother that she knew?
After he hung up, Luosang asked him, “You weren’t talking to our real mother who is still in Europe, were you?”
“Of course not. This was my girlfriend’s mother,” Mo Liuxi said matter-of-factly.
Luosang’s mouth twitched.
It was a good thing that Mo Jin wasn’t around to listen to that conversation—she would’ve been upset.
He hadn’t even brought his girlfriend home yet, and he was already calling her parents Ma and Pa. “He’s really thick-skinned, even more so than his brother-in-law,” Luosang thought to herself.
Halfway through dinner, a sudden stench wafted through the air.
Nian Junting’s expression changed and he said through gritted teeth, “Little brat, did you just poop again?”
Little Apple didn’t say anything. Instead, he gave him a sheepish grin as he stared at his father with teary eyes.
Niang Junting frowned as he said, “How many times must I tell you this? You have to tell me when you’re pooping. You’re doing this on purpose just to disgust us.”
Luosang grinned she said, “Then what should he tell you? Just go and clean it up over there. I’m still eating.”
Nian Junting kept quiet.
He was still eating as well.
