Fang Qi almost burst out in laughter and whispered, “Isn’t your hint a little too obvious?”
Nian Xi picked up a toothpick to get herself a slice of honeydew melon, “I have no other choice—my boyfriend is too oblivious to social cues. If I don’t give out obvious hints, I don’t think he would dare to propose to me… Not even after my hair has turned gray.”
Cheng Jing and Fang Qi nodded simultaneously. They agreed that she made complete sense.
“Oh, that’s right—is there any news about the death of that criminal, Zeng Hai?” Nian Xi asked. “What kind of poison is that K1NO2 exactly?”
“It’s difficult to say,” Cheng Jing frowned. “Only tetrodotoxin has been identified as one of the compounds. There are seven other toxic compounds in it, and they all seem to be extracted from unidentified microorganisms. However, Captain Chen has done a lot of research on this, and apparently, there have been similar cases in Brazil—the victims seem to be related to this underground organization called TOX.”
Jiang Yuning was just walking over with a plate of fish, and his hands trembled when he heard that name.
Nian Xi propped up her chin with her right hand, “I heard that Brazil is quite chaotic now. Many international criminals are there, from drug traffickers to arms smugglers. Could the people from that organization have sneaked into our country?”
“It’s difficult to say.” Fang Qi sighed. “The past few days, we have investigated everyone who was around Zeng Hai, or has come into contact with him, but we couldn’t find anything. According to his neighbor, he was too anti-social and had an odd personality, so nobody was willing to befriend him, or even take any notice of him. His family also only visited him once every few months. My guess is that his death has something to do with selling weapons.”
“Looks like this case might just go cold,” said Nian Xi as she frowned, crossing her arms.
“Not necessarily. It may be better to let Interpol take over the case.” When Fang Qi looked up, she noticed Jiang Yuning in a daze a few feet away. She immediately stood up, “Professor Jiang, is the fish done already?”
“Yes.” Jiang Yuning bent down to place the turbot on the table. “And so is the shrimp. Get ready to eat.”
They all enjoyed the seafood dinner.

Fang Qi and Cheng Jing left after dinner at around eight-thirty.
Jiang Yuning was focused on sweeping the floor.
Nian Xi waited till he was done, then signaled over to him.
“Xixi, are you thirsty?” Jiang Yuning walked over while wiping his fingers.
Nian Xi sat up straight and hooked her arm over his neck to pull him down. Her eyes were filled with passion, “Did you hear what I said earlier? So, when do you intend to propose to me?”
Jiang Yuning’s eyes grew wide in surprise. Watching the pretty face that was only inches away, he gulped anxiously. “Xixi…”
“Wait,” Nian Xi focused on him.
“I… I don’t know how…” said Jiang Yuning, trying to find an excuse.
Nian Xi raised her brows and said boldly, “I might know how.”
Jiang Yuning was speechless.
His head was burning hot.
After she had her bandages removed a few days before, the doctor said that she needed about another twenty days before she could walk again. “Xixi, I…”
Nian Xi didn’t wait for him to finish—she started kissing him passionately. Jiang Yuning stumbled and was pushed down onto the sofa. He cradled her waist anxiously, “Your leg has not yet recovered…”
“That’s right, my leg hasn’t recovered.” Nian Xi bent down, her raven black hair draped down her shoulders. At that moment, a gentle but seductive look gleamed all over her beautiful face. “Thank you for taking care of me for the past few days. Will you marry me?”
