“Don’t, don’t move.” Nian Junting hurriedly stopped her and said, “The doctor said you need to rest. I’ll do it myself.”
“Don’t fall again,” Luosang reminded him.
“I won’t. I’ll turn the light on.”
Nian Junting took a cold shower in the bathroom. When he came out, he felt sober. He put an arm around Luosang and murmured, “Before, every time I got together with my army friends, some of them would leave early, saying that they needed to go home to spend time with their wives and kids. Today, it was finally my turn to show off. Everybody was jealous of me.”
Luosang wanted to laugh. What was there to be jealous of? She turned her face and saw that Nian Junting had closed his eyes, his face filled with a satisfied smile. His hand lingered on her lower belly. She was content with what she had. But in a couple of minutes, that changed. Nian Junting snored every time he was drunk.
As she moved slightly, Nian Junting murmured with a gentle voice, “Good baby, don’t move. You can’t turn somersaults yet.”
Luosang was speechless. At first she thought he was calling her baby.
Next morning, Nian Junting woke up to see Luosang’s unhappy face.
“Mr. Nian, you snored loudly last night.”
The smile which had just emerged on Nian Junting’s face froze immediately.
Before, Luosang had complained that he snored when he was drunk. He always denied that. This time, as she accused him of it again, he couldn’t keep pretending that it didn’t happen.
“I get it. You don’t like me drinking, do you? You’re trying to make me give up on drinking. Don’t worry, I won’t drink again,” he said.
A couple of seconds later, he calmly sat up from the bed. Luosang felt speechless. It seemed that he wouldn’t admit snoring, no matter what.
“Oh, have you watched the film Medusa? What do you think about it?” Nian Junting abruptly asked.
Luosang paused briefly. She thought that he was trying to distract her. “I have. It’s popular. I think it’s the film with the highest box office takings this year.”
“Who did you watch that film with?” Hearing that, Nian Junting immediately became a little unhappy.
“Yan Su. Why did you suddenly mention that film?” Luosang was a little confused.
“Hmm, I heard people talking about it yesterday when I was at Huzhuang for the meeting.”
Luosang couldn’t stop praising the film. “It’s worth watching indeed. It was about 140 minutes long, but the plot is compact. It’s actually not slow at all.”
Nian Junting glanced at her and pulled a long face.
During breakfast, he asked casually, “Sangsang, would you break up with me if your family didn’t like me?”
“Why suddenly ask that kind of question?” Luosang didn’t understand.
“I’m just checking. I’m a little bored.”
“You didn’t give up on me when your family didn’t like me, so I’d do the same for you,” Luosang took a bite of the poached egg, then responded smilingly.
Nian Junting’s eyes instantly glowed.
Since Luosang had given her word, he didn’t need to worry that he might have offended his future mother-in-law anymore.
“But Junting, are you really going to work with a face like that?” Luosang couldn’t help but remind him.
Nian Junting paused in confusion. Luosang kindly opened the front-facing camera on her phone to let him see himself. There was a bruise on one side of his cheek. He must have fallen to the ground last night. That bruise would totally spoil his handsome image.

A while later, he raised his head and said to her helplessly, “Give me some foundation.”
Luosang’s foundation didn’t have a very strong concealing function.
After breakfast, Lu Kang drove to the villa to pick Nian Junting up. Seeing Nian Junting’s face, he spotted the bruise. “Mr. Nian, what happened to your face? Did you get drunk and fall last night?”
“Do I look like someone who would do something so stupid? It’s all Sangsang’s fault. Last night, she was unhappy because I came home too late. She lost her temper and hurt my face with her head.” Nian Junting glanced at Lu Kang, then got into the car.
Lu Kang stayed silent. He didn’t really believe Nian Junting.
“You’re so thick-skinned and Miss. Xu is a pregnant lady. Did she really have the courage to bump her head against your face?” said Lu Kang silently.
After Nian Junting got into the car, Lu Kang handed him a stack of files and said, “These are the files about Morrison that you asked for.”
“So soon?” Nian Junting raised his brows. “Good, you have improved.”
Lu Kang gave a fake smile and replied, “Earlier, you wanted to buy out Yi Group, but Morrison got it first. I figured that you might be unhappy about it and that you’d probably tell me to dig out her background. So I did some research in advance.”
Nian Junting lowered his head and opened the file.
The file wasn’t thick.
According to the file, she had returned to the Morrison Family five years ago. Her father was Mr. Morrison’s third son. She wasn’t working in the iron and steel business of her family but often went to the polar regions to film documentaries. Three years ago, she had been caught in an avalanche in Antarctica. The rescue team took two days to rescue her. But still, she was severely injured and had to stay in hospital for six months.
Before that, no history of hers could be found. Mo Liuxi was the same as his mother. Nian Junting read the file carefully. Earlier, he was 20% sure that Morrison was Luosang’s mother. And now, that number went up to 25. Three years ago, Luosang’s brother went to An City to look for her. After that, nothing was heard about him. Perhaps it was because his mother had an accident at that time. Also, Mo Jin seemed to have been majorly involved in something related to directing before.
“There’s another thing,” said Lu Kang. “Earlier, Yi Jingxi was injured, and it might have been something to do with Morrison too. I heard that on that day, they left the Industrial and Commercial Bureau together for dinner and after that, Yi Jingxi was sent to the hospital, seriously injured. Weirdly, he didn’t call the police.”
Nian Junting closed the file.
Lu Kang continued, “I also heard that the day Yi Jingxi was discharged from the hospital, his mother went to the hospital to have wounds dressed. No one knew how she had been injured. She didn’t call the police either. After that, Yi Jingxi went missing.”
Nian Junting stayed silent.
Lu Kang quietly glanced at him in the rear mirror, then continued, “Mr. Nian, if she was really Miss Xu’s mother… She seems to be very hard to deal with and pretty violent.”
“Tell me about it.”
Nian Junting rubbed his forehead with a sulky face. “She did all that I wanted to do.”
She punched Yi Jingxi and slapped Chu Lei.
He was planning to torture Yi Jingxi brutally after he got Xu Zhengxuan out of prison.
But now, someone had done that already.
In the future, when her mother found her, Luosang would become a rich girl. She would have everything she wanted and more money than she could ever need. She would be even richer than him.
In that case, he would become a useless man to her, except for in bed.
“However, if she’s really Miss. Xu’s mother, she should have talked to Miss. Xu long ago.” Lu Kang didn’t understand that. “Also, why did Mo Liuxi move next door to Miss. Xu?”
“They’re trying to find out what kind of man I am…” That was the only explanation that Nian Junting could come up with.
Lu Kang didn’t respond.
Nian Junting put a hand on his forehead and continued, “I don’t even remember what I have said in front of them.”
Lu Kang stayed silent.
It was definitely something mean, proud and impolite, he thought.
“It’s okay, Mr. Nian. You’ll be such a wonderful son-in-law. I’m sure that Morrison will like you,” Lu Kang complimented Nian Junting despite his true feelings.
