I left the girl in the recording room and start fiddling with the DAW. Checking some presets and didn't do most of the specifics. Luckily I found a preset that actually okay for my ears. Splitting the guitar into two, giving me that wide sound. One from raw sound of her guitar and the other from the amp. I'm surprised that the girl actually knows what she is doing with those knobs.
Not before long, the other kid, the singer came in to the control room with christine.
"Sir, I'm okay to sing now."
"You're just right on time. Alright. What'a your name first?"
"Yamasaki Ichiro, sir. But you can just call Me Juan."
"Juan? A pun for One, I guess?"
"Yess sir." He scratches his head, smiling.
"Go to the booth and warm yourself there."
He bowed towards me and went inside. Christine suddenly stand on my back.
"Uhh.. what do you think of those two?"
"To be honest? I don't really know.. it's just that.. my instincts are telling me that we are in for a surprise."
"I hope so. They don't know the fact that the fate of the club is in their hands."
"It' better if they don't know that."
Suddenly, the voice of the kid rang towards the control room and he said, "I'm ready sir."
"Ms. Locke? You are you ready?"
She was startled when I spoke, and and shouted, "yes!!" But I can see that she still isn't ready.
"Alright. I just wanna ask, what song are you going to perform."
"We are going to perform a japanese hit song during early 2000 First Love. But in a rendition used by a popular japanese rock band."
First love? Oh wow. It's a song in key of G. Not many guys try to sing that. I wonder how he will pull it off. I pressed record and for a remembrance and pointers before I stood up and go to the center.
Juan nods towards Jasmine and she took a deep breath before strumming an E chord.
E chord? Isn't it supposed to be G? Then her fingers made a chords face that almost looked like a standard B major chord but instead the root was and E before plucking the B octave and it's major. Then B root, then C#. The root is the only thing that is changing, the B octave and it's major stayed giving this sustained melancholy sound. And finally it ended with an E.

Without any sign or queue, Juan starts to sing. It was a perfect entrance. This shows how much the two have been practicing. He had already adapted on his guitarist's playing style. This is what most of the newbies lack, the synergy between the members. A band is supposed to play different parts. And there will be times when it will be very hard to actually be on point sith each other but once you did find that right synergy, and play as one, a single note can make a person Jump, cry, whatever feeling you want yo portray.
He is an amazing singer. He has potential. He's hitting his note well. Not putting frills to make him sound like a pro, but he is showing, relaying the mood of the song with his voice, which is not very easy to do. You can hit the right notes as you can but delivering is another thing.
The song reaches the pre chorus and i just realized something. Jasmine isn't really looking at her fretboard and instead looking at Juan. Not in a way you're mesmerized by someone you liked but like she's watching him, observing him what Juan will do. And when Juan is trying to belt those notes, her plucking patter changes in a way that perfect accompaniment for him. And on the end of the of the pre chorus, Jasmine played notes that will harmonize the notes Juan will use.
The chorus comes in and her Plucking pattern changed again. This time, giving this beaty and small slaps before going back to plucking again. A very harmonious performance of a unselfish guitarist and a unpolished singer. Why I call him unpolished? He lacked something, something that is hard to get, to learn. Experience. He probably sang in some karaoke's in the past. I can see his eyes looking at me and christine from time to time probably trying to see our expression on their performance. Looking at Christine, she's also wearing a poker face. Just attentively listsning to them, but he foot is hitting that tempo right this time. Is she only bad at maracas?
"What do you think, christine?"
"Great, I guess. I'm actually surprised."
"Why?"
"I think I know the rendition they were talking about." She crossed her arms and taps her arm with her pointer finger.
"That Japanese band became very known after having their western debut, being signed by a rock music label as well which is known for having a great rock music roster. The singer is known for his high range for a male rock singer. And right now he doesn't seem to be having any problem hitting those notes at all."
"Is that so. Now that you say that, he actually has a low speaking voice yet hitting those notes well."
I looked at him again and while we were talking, the song was now on the latter half of second pre chorus.
The chorus came again and that vocal adlib he did before the chorus comes in gave me chills. He's entering the zone. While Jasmine, has been in the zone since earlier. She's now playing with her eyes closed.
Then suddenly, the sound of plucking on the root changed, it sounded like it is being plucked by a pick yet the rest are still by fingers. I took a better look and saw her finger now holding a pick and doing Hybrid picking. Wow, hybrid picking isn't particularly easy to do, not hard as well. It's just a matter of being comfortable of using your thumb and pointer finger to hold the pick and and the rest to pluck. Mostly used in math rock, country and other plucky genres.
Then by the time they are about to reach the modulate the key to F, Jasmine starts to strum her guitar buildig up that needed intensity. It is all up to Juan to answer that foundation that Jasmine built up.
He took a quick deep breath, then sings.
My mouth opened and immediately covered it with my hands not to show any reactions to them.
This is what I call a synergy.
Then while Juan was singing that high part, first line, jasmine on the other hand only Strum the Fmaj7 chord ones yet loud to keep our ears listen to Juan's voice. And on the part of "inside my heart." She strums there 3 times as if portraying the heart beat, then scratches before doing a bass slide before going to the next Bar. Then her pattern stays with single strums then plucking it back for sustain until the end.
Then Jasmine did the outro by doing the piano part to her guitar flawlessly. Then a last strum of F chord.
"We've struck a diamond mine." christine said.
Unpolishedz but still a diamond.
