George placed the Theodore problem lower down on his to-do list, he was not essential and would have to wait his turn. There was a scroll placed on his bedside cabinet, he presume this had to be the timetable that Gemma had mentioned earlier. George picked the scroll up and unravelled it, the paper it was made of felt more like cloth and seemed hard to tear unless he tried to do it deliberately. It read;

NOTE: Astronomy Students may be asked to attend lessons at MIDNIGHT at their teacher's discretion.
George was quite surprised to see the similarities between the Hogwarts timetable and a conventional muggle school's timetable. George found it funny that the majority of the classes are being held on the same floor students have been specifically told not to go wandering about on. Wasn't Dumbledore just tempting fate, or was he looking for alternative methods to feed Fluffy? It would be fewer noisy kids to teach and more free bite-size snacks for the three-headed dog, that's a win-win if you're completely insane. The headmaster really was a sick old man, he should just retire and let McGonagall take over.
The schedule was more generous for spare time than George had anticipated. The late afternoons would be free, which he assumed was time intended for study and personal research in the library. This was great news since it provided plenty of time for his potion-brewing escapades. He also recognised every single teacher and was personally looking forward to receiving his defence against the Dark Arts lesson from Professor Quirrell and his Dark Lord assistant two days from now. Who could be better to teach the next generation about the evils of magic than Voldemort himself?
George committed the timetable's content to memory and then placed it inside his pocket. He then left his dorm and returned to the common room where he found Gemma still lying relaxed on the sofa and smiling to herself. She must have found her joke very amusing.
Gemma spotted George and looked surprised, "you've only been gone three minutes. Did you get lost or something? Do you need me to hold your hand and show you the way?"
Gemma's condescension towards George was skyrocketing, she was having way too much fun teasing him. He was only willing to tolerate her attitude because he could tell under all that sarcasm Gemma actually cared for him and just had an unusual way of expressing it. George believed that Gemma was socially awkward and this was her way of coping with it when talking to new people, he was predicting that this was her unique way of making friends. Therefore, he could not afford to squander this bit of little banter. This dialogue could make-or-break their future relationship, so he'd have to take this insult on the chin.
He played along and pretended to be upset by her insinuation, he pursed his lips and crossed his arms.
George spat out his answer to her question after pausing for dramatic effect, "of course I found it, the rooms are numbered after all. Do you really think I'm that incompetent?"
Gemma seemed to be revelling in George's reaction, her smile only broadened at seeing his fake agitation toward her allegation. He became more confident in his understanding of what made this girl tick, she was definitely starting to treat him like a little brother. Her behaviour closely mimicked how George treated Ellie whilst he lived at the Linwood house, he did not consider that a coincidence. He felt that his self-deprecating and childish act was going to be the most effective way to reeking the most benefits from his friendship with her.
Gemma gracefully got up from the sofa and walked up to George whilst holding out one hand, she was expecting him to give her something. Her fingers kept on wafting towards herself as if to hurry George along. He pulled out the timetable from his pocket and handed it over to Gemma, he waited patiently whilst she began to read it from top to bottom. George found it odd that she didn't already know the first-year Slytherin timetable, it was only this morning that she had been showing the others around. Gemma only took ten seconds to skim-read the timetable before she handed it back to him.
She ended up giving him some advice, "I completely forgot how empty first-year timetables are, the school clearly doesn't expect much from you. That being said, it's not the best timetable I have ever seen, you're going to have to be careful on Mondays. Professor Snape and Professor McGonagall have zero tolerance for late students and often make you pay for it by losing your break as punishment.
You've got history tomorrow, my deepest condolences to your brain cells. Professor Carrow is so boring that it should be considered torture to attend his class but don't tell anyone I said that. The last thing I want is to be spending detention with him.
Wednesday's look good though, I've heard that Professor Quirrell is a bit of a pushover so you can probably have a lie-in if you wanted to. It's a shame you have to end the week with Potions class."
George wasn't planning on being late to any of his lessons anyway. He would not risk losing time by sitting in a room to serve detention when he could be spending the time researching or brewing potions. Plus, he had the good boy persona to maintain.
Gemma clapped her hands and rubbed them together, "we're gonna have to do the impossible so I hope you're ready. We have roughly half an hour to go to eight different corners of the school before the lunch break so we can't afford to mess around. It usually takes about five minutes to go from one classroom to another on average so we'll probably have to run to make up time.
We'll have to be extra careful so that Filch doesn't catch us, it'll be hard since that man seems to be everywhere all at once. We're already in the dungeons so we should start with your Potions class and then work our way up to the Astronomy classroom."
Gemma then turned and started jogging towards the exit, George didn't hesitate to start following her. This was quite a contrast to the lazy attitude Gemma was showing less than a minute ago. He was starting to get the impression she might have multiple Personality Disorder or ADHD. He decided not to worry about it since she was currently acting how he wanted her to.
The tour around the castle predominantly involved travelling up and down many flights of moving stairs, and all the running back and forth had taken a heavy toll on Gemma. George learnt once again how little physical exercise was practised outside of Quidditch. Maybe it would be a good idea to start a workout club and recruit his friends to improve their fitness. Gemma was gasping for air by the time they reached the seventh floor, he had to just stand there and wait for her heart to catch up with her body.
Due to a combination of Gemma slowing them down and getting lucky not running into Filch, they only just managed to reach the Great Hall for dinner with a minute to spare. The atmosphere inside of the Great Hall had changed since the Sorting Hat ceremony, the main difference being the room was practically empty. There was not a single student seated at any one of the four houses' tables, George and Gemma seemed to be the first ones to arrive. There were a few janitors dressed in similar clothing as Mr Filch, they were checking the tables to see if all of the student's cutlery was present and clean. At the far end of the room, there were a few teachers, many of which George did not recognise.
One of which George did recognise was Professor McGonagall, she was currently seated beside the headmaster's chair and was reading a copy of the daily prophet. George was aware that he had missed her class in the morning and felt it was in character for him to apologise for his absence, Gemma did say that McGonagall held punctuality in high regard. Speaking of which, Gemma was leaning against the large wooden door whilst panting for air. George felt that he needed to ask permission from her before he wandered off. She had helped him look around the school and deserved that level of respect.
George politely asked, "Miss Farley, can we go and see Professor McGonagall? I think I should apologise for being absent from her lesson this morning."
Gemma looked pained by what he'd said, "first of all, don't call me Miss Farley. You make me sound like my mother. I'm only sixteen, you know. Secondly, just give me a minute alright, I'm dying over here. I don't get how you're not tired."
Gemma started to take deep breaths, breathing in through her nose and out through her mouth. After about twenty seconds, her breathing returned to normal. She walked over to George and gave him a gentle punch on the shoulder, it was obviously not an attempt to hurt him.
Gemma looked toward George with a suggestive smile, "you're smart for playing teacher's pet on day one. It's a good idea to work your way into some of the teacher's good books right from the start. It makes getting away with trouble much easier when you eventually get caught, but I'm not speaking from experience. It's all hearsay. Just remember not to suck up to Professor Snape, he hates that sort of thing."
George agreed with Gemma's advice, teachers were human too and were susceptible to being biased towards students they liked just like any other adult. He already planned on getting into a good relationship with every one of his teachers. He intended on being a model student and achieving excellent grades. George wanted to disguise all of the brown-nosing behind a goody-two-shoes facade, he planned on putting Tom Riddle to shame. Sadly, Gemma was destined to never know how far he was going to take her suggestion.
George decided to look confused after hearing Gemma's implication, "I don't know what you mean. I just wanted to check that I didn't miss anything in Professor McGonagall's class. What's wrong with that?"
Gemma's mischievous smile widened, "sure sure. I totally understand. You probably want to ask if there is any extra homework you can complete to help you catch up? Maybe you want to offer to help after lesson time too, right?"
Gemma was winking whilst nudging his shoulder with her elbow, he was confused why she was able to see through his innocent act. George didn't believe that Gemma was smart or suspicious enough to distinguish his lies from the truth. Perhaps she could not possibly comprehend a student legitimately having a keen interest in their subject and wanting to do extra work for the fun of it. Weird people like Hermione must come around very rarely.
George decided to keep acting ignorant of her insinuation, "I don't see why not. Transfiguration seems like a fun subject anyway. A little extra work wouldn't be so bad."
Gemma's smirk didn't waiver, if anything, her confidence in his secret agenda seemed to grow with every word that left his mouth. She appeared to have already painted a picture in her head of what George's intentions were. This was probably less to do with his acting failing him, but rather Gemma self-projecting onto him. He felt he had learned a little more about Gemma through this interaction.
George was fairly confident that Gemma had a good relationship with teachers just so she could get out of doing detention whenever she was late for class. In a relationship, this behaviour can be a double-ended blade. In one regard, Gemma is open to bending the rules and could help George accomplish some of the more shady parts of the mission. On the other hand, her deceptive nature might make her inclined to see through his lies. After all, it takes one to know one. If he was to commit to using her, George would have to be careful to keep his manipulations to a minimum.
