The day was dark, the sky blocked by gray clouds.

On such a day, rain and wind were to be expected.

And rain it did, heavily so, yet in such a rain, on a river a boat floated.

The boat was simple, though it appeared to be sturdily built, and its owner appeared to trust that it won’t sink.

Yet it’s the owner was truly bizarre, not for being ugly or short, but because of the fact that it was a woman! Not to say a woman can’t use a paddle or steer a boat, but this woman, or more appropriately, this young lady truly didn’t seem like someone who could do it.

She was a young lady, no more than twenty years of age, and she was beautiful! Being around a hundred and eighty centimeters tall, she could be considered tall, with long legs and well rounded buttocks, though she fell flat in the chest. In this case, the comparison was literal as she was flat chested.

“To think that father would punish me by having me transport people across the river! Truly inhumane!” she said, with heavy disdain in her voice.

“How else was I supposed to react to being married off to that arrogant dipshit! Not only did he look down on me as a woman, treating me as a collectible, but he insulted my swordsmanship!” she complained loudly to no one in particular, as she believed she was alone. Indeed, who would want to cross a river in such a heavy downpour, and who could blame her for complaining out loud?

“Miss, to whom are you talking to?” suddenly she heard a calm and deep voice, and she became startled, as she didn’t sense the man approaching.

“Who are you?” she answered the question with a question, while quickly turning to look at the one to whom the voice belongs.

On the shore of the river, she saw a man. The man was tall, of an upright bearing, with broad and large shoulders, and despite his long, dark green, or perhaps basil green robe that prevented much of his body shape from being discerned, and the fact that his arms were behind his lower back, he seemed quite muscular, and his facial features were much more pronounced, unlike most people of local birth.

On his left side, by his waist, a sword was hung. The scabbard was made out of wood, with four beautiful engraved characters on it that read “Be as supple as a dragon”. Out of the scabbard, a hilt with a jade ring pommel could be seen.

“I am a man looking to cross this river, and you seem to be the only one that is currently accepting passengers.” He said calmly.

“I see…You may come in.” She replied, still startled on regarding how he had managed to escape her notice.

And so, the large man sat on the boat, and it was only now that she saw how tall he was compared to her, as she was sitting and thus unable to make the most accurate judgment. Not to say that she could currently make an accurate judgment, as they were both sitting, yet his height was truly great.

The young lady considered herself quite tall, as she was, but compared to this man she felt inadequately short, because of the fact that she only reached under his shoulders! Yet she saw how unaffected he was when in front of a beauty like her, and that made her annoyed, so she started scheming.

“When are you going to start rowing? But I do not see a paddle…” the man made a passing comment, yet the young lady pinched her fingers and the boat started moving, and so did her plan start.

She closed the small distance between the two of them and started leaning into the man.

The man was quite surprised at the boat starting without a sail or paddle, but when she leaned into him, he pushed her with his left hand and said “Please respect yourself! I am not that kind of a person!”.

In the young lady’s mind, she cursed at him, ‘You’re not that kind of person, so am I that kind of person?’ but the push, which would not be effective under normal circumstances, worked great with her plan.

And so she fell into the water, while the man shouted “Miss!” with concern, but was met with her head getting out of the water.

“That was quite rude!” she exclaimed, faking offense, and climbing back on the boat.

“I apologize!” the man said, as he was the one who pushed her into cold water, so he had no qualms about apologizing.

“That is not enough! I am all wet, so give me your robes!” she said.

The man looked weirdly at her, as his clothes were also wet from the heavy rain. And the girl realized it was well.

“Hmm… your clothes are wet as well…So hug me to keep me warm!” she suddenly said.

Indeed, in her mind, this all was a mere joke, yet to the man it was weird, but he obliged.

“All right!” he simply said, as even though he found it weird, he was in fact the one who pushed her into the water, so he decided to grant her the request.

“You won’t- Wait you agreed?” she said, before getting embraced by the man, with only his left arm. For her most men were more effeminate than her, with their greatest interest being poetry and passing passions, so for the sheltered but martial girl, she expected the man to refuse, so that she would prank him more times and get him embarrassed.

It was not that she didn’t think of him embracing her, but she was quite confident in her beauty and knew how to spot lust in a man’s eye, yet this man’s sincere expression of making amends surprised her.

Under her embarrassment, the boat increased in speed, and soon they were on a different side.

“What is the toll?” the man asked upon releasing her from the hug.

“Just go away!” she answered angrily, and chased him away, but he threw a tael of silver, and it landed near her feet.

The young lady was surprised, as a tael of silver was a quite large amount of money.

She pinched her fingers, before starting to talk.

“Xiao Hu! I will send you a mental image of a man whom I met, so tail him!”

In the wild woodlands, a tiger seemed quite surprised, as something quite weird happened.

‘The girl that crippled the Coral Reef Sect young master for trying to seduce her and insulting her swordsmanship wants me to tail a man?’ Xiao Hu rehearsed in her mind as she was quite bewildered.

‘Seems like a good show’ and she started transforming into a tall, tan skinned, and muscular young lady, and so she rushed in a direction.

A bit later in a larger clearing in the forest, the tall man stopped walking.

“Show yourself!” he shouted, as he was annoyed at someone stalking him.

But there was nothing, no matter how long he waited, so under his breath, the man mumbled about his senses growing more acute in this weather, but in the bushes, Xiao Hu was quite surprised, as she was noticed by a mortal.

‘Interesting!’

Lin Feng was a lucky man. Reborn as a handsome man into a rich clan, he was a genius at martial arts and was considered to be the youngest future master, as many believed he would achieve that amount of martial prowess.

Yet one day, all his internal energy was sucked up! That in itself would not be a problem, but even the energy core was damaged! In mundane terms, the seed that allowed him to use his internal energy and replenish it was gone!

As such, his fiancé left him, and so he made a three year contract that he will beat her, but he wished to commit suicide. So he went to a forest, doing what could only be described as courting death!

Yet he was lucky, as during his wailing and yelling like an injured animal for a tiger or some other beast to kill him, an old voice appeared in his head, telling him that he was the heavenly monarch of something and somewhere, Lin Feng failed to understand, but he was powerful. That Lin Feng was confident of.

Thanks to the methods he, Lin Feng, learned from the heavenly monarch allowed him to reach a higher level of power!

It was merely a month since he started cultivating the so called immortal methods, yet he regained his previous strength, and now… Now he was in a competition to win support from the Ye family, by getting married!

His opponent was the young master of the Wang family, and now they were fighting.

Not letting his opponent speak, Lin Feng used the martial method of Three Strikes Of Rolling Thunder!

Thus Lin Feng was bound to win! Yet the young master countered, using the famous Wang family martial art.

“Is that the famed Tiger Falls Upon A Peasant And Devours The Peasant of the Wang family?” said a man, who didn’t seem strong enough to actually know much about various martial arts.

“Wasn’t the Wang family’s founder, Wang Dajian, the only one to be able to use such a profound martial art?” said another man, who didn’t seem old enough to know Wang Dajian, who died two centuries ago, but he could have learned from various rumors.

“Tiger Falls Upon A Peasant And Devours The Peasant is the secret move of my Wang family! This move allowed ancestor Wang Dajian to dominate the town! Today I shall use it to show everyone that my Wang family isn’t a toothless tiger! Lin Feng, you will die today! Be obedient and I may keep your corpse intact!” the young master of the Wang family said.

Truly an amazing martial art Lin Feng said in his heart, but the heavenly monarch’s voice awoke him.

‘Young man, use ‘that’ method. Else you will die!’

‘That method? Very well! Wang bastard, today I will honor you with this method!’

And so Lin Feng used the method, and in a single bout that seemed as though heaven darkened and the earth shook, the Young master of the Wang family stood.

“Why is he just standing there?” said an onlooker.

“Intimidating!” said another.

Then, the young master of the Wang family spurted blood, and fell to the ground!

“How is that possible!” said an onlooker.

“How could he fall down!” said another.

Then suddenly an elderly man jumped out, shouting an endearing term towards the young master of the Wang family, as he was the old master of the Wang family, who is the father of the young master of the Wang family, the Wang family patriarch!

But a voice boomed, “Patriarch Wang, stand down!”

Then after a threatening conversation, the Wang family Patriarch stood down.

Then the Ye family patriarch came to Lin Feng.

“Lin Feng-“

“Greetings!” suddenly a booming but deep voice resounded.

It was the tall man in basil green robes!

“And who might you be?”

“I am the man who wishes to fight with you!” said the

“What? I, Ye Tian, am not somebody who would fight random charlatans!”

“Father-in-law! Let me deal with the man!” Lin Feng’s voice came.

“Very well Lin Feng!” Ye Tian replied to the foolish words of the young man.

“Draw your sword!” Lin Feng said to the basil green robed man.

The basil green robed man looked Lin Feng straight into the eyes, and said “You’re not worthy!”

“What?” Lin Feng replied in confusion,” How dare you!”

He, Lin Feng, was a heaven sent genius! How could a man who looked worse than a beggar dare to tell him he was not worthy?

It was true that the basil green robed man looked worse than a beggar, yet it was because of the heavy rain and the fact that someone was stalking him! He could barely sleep, and the bastard was shameless enough to hide when noticed. The basil green robed man was not a god with three heads and six arms, nor did he have supernatural skills to pinpoint the location of his pursuer.

As such, the basil green robed man was always cautious, and the constant vigilance drove the polite and calm man crazy.

“Die!” Lin Feng roared as he charged at the basil green robed man, only for the basil green robed man to dodge and punch Lin Feng with his left hand. The punch landed in the young man’s liver, making Lin Feng fall, only to get his head stomped on and his neck broken, killing him.

“Patriarch Ye, I wish to fight you!” the basil green robed man said once again, only for a girt to lunge at him from his back,

He dodged and, using his left arm, grabbed her sword arm by the wrist, and dislocated it.

“Mei’er!” the patriarch of the Ye family, Ye Tian, shouted before jumping at the basil green robed man, who promptly kicked his head off, as he, the basil green robed man, was pissed!

Upon the destruction of Lin Feng, Ye Xiaomei, and Ye Tian, the Wang family patriarch thanked the basil green robed man greatly, as now that the foundation of the Ye family, Ye Tian, was dead, and the future of the Ye family, Lin Feng and Ye Xiaomei were neutralized if not dead so that the Wang family could now dominate the town.

Suddenly a tall, tan skinned and muscular girl appeared. It was Xiao Hu! And she, using a straight single edged sword, attacked the basil green robed man.

The attacks were fierce, yet the basil green robed man swiftly dodged them all. The tigerish might infused into every single one of them frightened the onlookers, nonetheless the basil green robed man’s footwork was even more distinguished thanks to them.

And so the onslaught of attacks lasted for several hours, but the basil green robed man didn’t bother to draw his sword. The young lady, Xiao Hu, was surprised that none of her attacks hit her target. One must say that most people couldn’t move so actually for several hours. Most fights lasted from several seconds to several minutes!

Yet the basil green robed man’s stamina made Xiao Hu interested, so she stopped using pure martial arts and started using supernatural powers, and managed to capture the basil green robed man.

Then she used some weird methods to summon a carriage and put him in there. Thus they started traveling.

Soon after the incident, a tale started to emerge of a tiger demoness and a peerless swordsman and their romantic relationship. A scholar surnamed Xu, with the given name of Fan composed it, and many years later it grew tremendously in popularity.

…

In the carriage, the basil green robed man slept soundly. One would wonder how he slept so sweetly when he was kidnapped, but his answer would be simple, “They did not kill me, so they need something of me, and thus I can at the very least have proper sleep!”

Heaven forbid they touched his sword though, as he would kill them in a single strike, and if he couldn’t kill them, he would not provide any sort of information that was needed.

Soon enough he woke up, and upon looking outside the curtain of the carriage he was astonished by the sights!

A sandy ground, with much mucus and seaweed on it, many stones and fishes and corals and various other underwater objects and living beings. A completely alien world!

Yet what was even more astonishing was the magnificent construct that stood lonely in the underwater landscape. Its walls were made of the finest violet jade, and its roof seemed to be made from silver, but this was merely an outside view.

As he went to the door, he was astonished at the quality of its craft! Two nine clawed golden dragons seemed to serve as protectors of the household.

“Hey!” the tan skinned lady’s shout woke up the basil green robed man from his stupor.

“You finally awake? Good! I wish to know why didn’t you use your sword during our duel.” Now that he took a closer look, the girl was clad in only a tiger skin skirt and a cloth that seemed to keep her well developed buxom in check.

“You do not have the eyes of a swordsman! Or maybe a swordswoman in your case… Nonetheless, you do not have the eyes of a sword wielder whose conviction is firm, and I myself have sworn that I will only use my sword on such opponents!” the basil green robed man replied with an extremely firm tone.

“I see… why is that?” the tigerish tan skinned young lady asked.

“I was once a wild man, murdering hundreds, if not thousands of people with my sword, all to sharpen my skills and concentrate my bloodlust,” the basil green robed man said, with much nostalgia in his tone,” Then I fought an opponent whose conviction in swordsmanship was simply insane, so I promised myself that I will find more such swordsmen and will only use my skills in the sword arts to murder them.” He exclaimed with conviction.

“That is an interesting story…” the tigerish tan skinned young lady replied, and suddenly asked a question” so did you find any of such swordsmen?”

“Nay! I found not a single one!” the basil green robed man replied with great indignation in his tone, “I believed that I will find many, considering that the world is so big! But to think I found not a single one? Yet somehow my swordsmanship improved to a terrifying extent…”

“That is truly wonderous” the tan skinned tigerlike young lady replied” So what is your name? My name is Xiao Hu!” she said.

“Hmm...” The basil green robed man pondered for a moment, then said” I only give my name to worthy swordsmen, though in the rivers and lakes, people call me ‘Day in Day out’! Though others call me ‘Fist Demon of Shu Mountain’.”

“I see… well the young lady asked me to simply tail you, but I brought you in, so let’s report that!” the tigerlike tan skinned young lady cheerily said and ran off.

“YOU! IT WAS YOU WHO DIDN’T LET ME HAVE A WINK OF SLEEP FOR SEVERAL DAYS!” and the basil green robed man went onto a cursing spree full of fury, before going in pursuit.

So he saw the inside of the palace, and it was truly glorious! Priceless gems decorated the walls, and jade pillars with golden dragons stood mightily on the silver floor.

To that scene of majestic beauty in the immeasurably large hall, the basil green robed man’s only reaction was that silver was too soft to be used on floors, as he was roughly pissed off.

The anger of the basil green robed man subdued greatly as he looked upon the woman in front of him.

He felt that she was familiar, then it clicked in his mind, “You are the shameless boat girl!” he exclaimed.

The young lady, while grateful to be recognized, was frustrated by the association the basil green robed man had of her and shamelessness.

“I have a name you know!” she said angrily.

“And I do not know that name!” the basil green robed man replied calmly, as all his anger left him because of the one simple fact. Why would he be angry over something that already passed? There was no reason to remain in a useless state of fury.

The young lady blushed, and then introduced herself, “My name is Ao Minjun!”

“I see…” the basil green robed cultivator replied plainly.

“Well, will you not introduce yourself?” Ao Minjun asked.

“I will only introduce myself to a worthy swordsman! Or a swordswoman… A worthy sword wielder!” the basil green robed cultivator said.

“I see,” in the eyes of Ao Minjin the spirit of competition was born, “So, do you wish to have a duel?”

“Very well! I will not draw my sword if you prove unworthy!” the basil green robed man said, and soon they went to a fighting arena made of jade.

Ao Minjun drew her sword and took a posture, but suddenly the whole atmosphere changed! She was no longer a girl, but a cold sword wielder! The basil green robed man felt excited!

‘How long has it been since I drew you for combat, old buddy? Has it been twenty years?’ the basil green robed man said in his mind.

“Very well! You have the spirit of a swordmaster! This is my sword, named ‘Exemplary courage’! It is three chi and nine cun long! It is broad two and a half cun edge to enge, its hilt leanght is nearly eight cun, but not quite...” the basil green robed swordsman rambled with great excitement in his voice.

It was the first time he would fight a true swordswoman and the first time in decades that he would fight a sword wielder of such conviction!

“I see… Good to know!” the swordswoman Ao Minjun replied while a little weirded out. Even she was not so obsessed with swords! She would just pick out a random sword and practice with it, as she was a lot more interested in swordsmanship rather than swords themselves.

Then the basil green robed swordsman finally used his right hand and pulled out his sword, and as it turned out his right hand was longer than his left! By fifteen centimeters even, but that simply meant that his range was even greater!

And so they both stood calmly, waiting for an opening, and the first one to show one was Ao Minjun. It was a slight opening, but the basil green robed swordsman was no ordinary swordsman, so he could exploit the opening, and so after an initial moment of utter peace they fought!

Withing every second they exchanged many cuts, and when opportunities arose a thrust was sent, yet in a moment of inexperience in battling opponents that matched her, lunged at her foe, who promptly dodged her and sent a thrust at her side.

But terrifyingly the blade was blocked by the skin, and the basil green robed swordsman backed away quickly. And it was the best course of action, as once the girl stood up, her appearance had changed.

“Heh, to think I would have to reveal my draconic nature…” Ao Minjun said, appearing somewhat ashamed.

“SHAME ON YOU!” the basil green robed swordsman bellowed,” why did you invite me to a proper duel and not use your full strength?”

“That’s quite hypocritical of you, considering that your swordsmanship is so exquisite!” Ao Minjun, the dragon girl who had no change in her appearance apart from a pair of horns on her head, retorted.

“While it may be hypocritical, it was because of the fact that I didn’t wish to break anyone’s spirit! But oh well, I am not a Buddha that can be perfect!” the basil green robed swordsman replied.

And then, the real fighting began!

To the onlookers, especially Xiao Hu who was the only one currently being there, the battle was something that was comparable to the legends! So it was great that a recording orb was there.

If one were to describe the sword wielding skills of the two swords wielders, one would describe Ao Minjun’s as a style that heavily relied on her superior might, yet there was no lack of skill in every move she made.

But the basil green robed swordsman was quite the opposite! His swordsmanship could only be described as very scientific, and very defensive! In the few times that he took the offense, the dragon girl, Ao Minjun was thoroughly suppressed! If she didn’t have the great strength of the dragon race she would have lost dozens of times by now.

And so, they fought more and more intensely, the fight lasting for hours! But the fight would soon be over, as the basil green robed swordsman was a man!

In a moment of weakness, he did not properly parry, and so a thrust hit his hearth, destroying it thoroughly.

“Keough-“while choking on his own blood, the basil green robed swordsman said,” take care of my sword!”

The dragon girl was terrified, as she didn’t wish to kill him! She had finally found a man that held such a similar interest, why was he to die?

With a tear coming down from her eye, she asked with sadness in her voice “Can you at least tell me your name?”

“Very well-Cough!” the basil green robed swordsman replied while spurting blood out of his mouth,” My name is Cao Xiang!” and promptly died.

Xiao Hu was quite terrified at the atmosphere that Ao Minjun exuded. It was chilling, to say the least. Yet the man was dead, his soul in the underworld. But there was nothing to do but accept.
