"I'm home!" Gideon exclaimed weakly as he opened the front door to their house.

His mother emerged from the kitchen a few moments later, holding a large metal spoon. "Welcome home," she said, furrowing her brows. "You seem tired today," she remarked, her gaze following Gideon as he walked upstairs with his shoulders slumped.

"I had to run for my life from a bunch of gangsters and a kinky girl who wanted to put a leash around my neck, so yeah. I am tired," he replied.

His mother assumed he was joking and chuckled at his remark.

Gideon chose to ignore the response and proceed to his room. He leaned against the door as he entered his room and peered into the gloom. The chaos in the room greeted him as soon as he turned on the lights and let out a breath. He set his suitcase down on the floor and went over to the belongings that were strewn about the room. As he neared the nearest one, he knelt down and put out his hands to grab it.

The most typical item that was lying about was the first thing he took. Various manga were all over his room. They were meant to be concealed in their storage space, but instead they were dispersed and left open. When Gideon opened the manga and saw the pictures inside, he smiled.

"It's been months since I read one of these; perhaps I missed it last week, which is why I decided to read them again." His gentle smile widened as he flipped another page. Then he looked down at the other manga on the brown wooden floor. "Man, I used to love reading manga and watching anime... I've just stopped reading and watching since..."

After remembering a traumatic memory, he put down the manga and took up the others. He put them together, picking up posters and anime DVDs that were supposed to be hidden. The walls of his room were devoid of any posters.

However, his hand stopped after grabbing something from the collection of manga, DVDs, and posters. He noticed a black notebook and looked at it. Immediately, recognition appeared on Gideon's face. He took the black notebook carefully from the floor and looked at its cover. Before turning to the first page, he went through the notebook with his fingertips.

A character sheet that he had constructed and written by hand. Information about a personalized character he made in the past, when he was still highly enthusiastic about a certain type of activity, role-playing, was listed on the character sheet. On the notebook's first page, the name of the character was written in bold type.

"It's been a while... Hunter Windleaper," he mumbled, recalling years ago when he was writing about the character. He turned to the second page and read what was on it. "An agile fighter who specializes in mobility and close combat," he smiled as he read through the character sheet summary. He closed the notebook after a few minutes of not moving. "That must be why I insisted on being called Hunter last week; I think I just went back to my chuuni phase for a while," he rubbed his brow. "Who knows, I may have roleplayed as Hunter all week, Hunter is cool though."

He placed the notebook gently on the floor next to the manga and looked around the room. "As far as I recall, I made two of this shit, but where did I put the other one?" He grimaced as he remembered something. "Man, the other one was more chuuni than Hunter; my classmates looked at me with disgust after roleplaying as that guy for a month." He hugged himself as a chill ran down his spine. "Embarrassing days," he said, smiling. "Those were good times," he said, placing his hand on his chin. "I wonder where I stored my anime figures."

After putting everything together for a while. He put his possessions in cartons and kept them under his bed. A tap on the door, though, caused him to stop.

"Just come in," he said.

His mother emerged from the door. "Dinner will be ready soon," she said, pausing and looking at Gideon with surprise in her eyes.

On his walls, Gideon was sticking posters of anime. They were all adorable anime heroines posing in adorable ways.

"Don't look at them like that, Mom. It's embarrassing. Are you going to say that I have a very strange hobby again?" Gideon asked, holding a Nakano Itsuki poster.

His mother shook her head immediately. "No, I won't say that. I was just teasing you and your big brother," she said as she walked toward Gideon. "I'm glad to see you're putting them back up; you and your big brother Gian enjoy these kinds of things, and he'd love to see you doing what you two enjoy."

"Mom," he said as he walked toward the door. As he walked past his mother, he suggested, "Let's go downstairs, it's still quite messy here."

His mother, on the other hand, simply followed him with her eyes. "It's been a while; you should pay a visit to your big brother; he'd be delighted to see you."

Gideon came to a halt and swallowed his saliva several times before exhaling. "He can't see me anymore, he's gone," he added, his voice mournful.

"But you should still do it."

Gideon took a brief pause. He returned his gaze to his mother, who was looking at him with concern in her eyes. He shook his head slowly and looked down for a few moments before returning his gaze to her. "All right, I'll pay him a visit this Saturday; he'd love it if I dropped by and gave him a bouquet of flowers." He stretched his arms in the air, groaning softly. "Anyway, what are we having for dinner?" he asked, changing the subject.

His mother approached him, a relieved smile on her face. "I made beef stew, which I know you enjoy."

"Of course I do! As long as you're the one who cooked it, I'll eat whatever you give me."

"You sound just like your dad," his mother teased. "How did you spend your day?"

Gideon laughed. "You won't believe what happened today, Mom; I had a very crazy day... Literally."

"Oh, really? Then let me hear it."

"Hmm, where should I begin? Oh, on my way to school this morning..."
