"Uh, wow." I let out, standing up.

Did I start anew?

Walking out of the compartment I saw the same first year students I saw the first time I appeared here.

The feeling was slightly eerie and at the same time exciting.

Deciding to make a slight change I stood there in the hallway, waiting.

And sure enough, the Maxwell guy, professor or whatever, was heading my way.

Yet this time he looked at me, turned his head towards my compartment, saw that it was empty and ... walked away.

This bastard was surely up to no good! Maybe he was the one who killed Harry and the others?

With that thought in mind, I waited for a little while, observing his every movement. He opened one of the compartments and made a very familiar troubled face. Meanwhile, Hermione approached me.

"Sorry," She started.

I straightened up and looked at her inquiringly.

"Um, hi. I was searching for a toad, have you seen any? Neville's lost it." She asked, her expression firm, but her fidgety fingers betrayed some nervousness.

"No, sorry but I haven't."

"Oh." Hearing my reply she excused herself and walked away.

And I slowly went after Maxwell.

I took out my wand, wanting to know what I'm capable of beforehand.

I examined it more closely. It was a fair wand, as if made out of a birch tree. A narrow, barely noticeable line separated it's handle from the shaft. Up from this line, a spiral engraving was carved almost till the tip of it. The company's logo, square glasses with horns, was located on the handle.

I waved it, but nothing happened.

I waved it again and the result was the same. Not even a sparkle.

What does this supposed to mean? Every witch or a wizard, even without knowing how to use a wand, should at least trigger some reaction from it.

I sighed, frustrated. Not knowing what else to do, I tried to link my fingers together and point at the wand. But now again, nothing happened.

Not losing hope, I tried to kind of zoom in and finally managed to summon an explanation to my frustration.

===

[Hell Mode Wand] - Player Exclusive

Has a magical link with a player. Cannot be replaced. Exerts a disguise signature, making it indistinguishable from other wands. However, it is incapable of focusing or enhancing the player's magic.

===

Yeah, that was really bad.

I stomped my little foot and kept on walking.

Magically linked to me and can't be replaced? Then what use does it have? Yeah, now I wonder how am I even gonna do magic without a wand.

I finally reached the compartment that Maxwell went into.

I gave it an inconspicuous side glance, saw Maxwell talking to two children, walked past, turned around and headed towards Hermione.

I waited long enough so that she entered the compartment and only then went after her to check if that was the one I needed.

Coming closer I saw a long nosed redhead Ron. Skinny, bespectacled Harry. And Hermione sitting and watching as Ron tried to perform magic.

Now that I know where they are I can just ask someone for help when I catch Maxwell doing his dark stuff. But who do I ask? Should I search for some seventh year students?

As I was thinking, a certain lady with a trolley entered my sight.

Of course! She is the only adult witch nearby. Well let's hope it'll work.

So the plan is to wait till the guy comes and attempts to kill Harry and the gang, and only then ask for help. Yeah, sounds stupid. But I most probably will have another chance if it doesn't work.

So while I have time, let's see what Maxwell is up to. Maybe I won't have to risk Harry's life at all.

...

I approached the compartment once again and peeked into the window. But the window was sweaty and I couldn't discern what was happening inside.

It wasn't winter, mind you. There is definitely something happening in there.

As I was about to touch the window I noticed that the doorknob was stained with something. It was this coal-like, black mark again.

Repeating the same movements as with my wand I summoned a window.

===

An extract of polyjuice mixed with swamp toxins.

===

Polyjuice?

I think I know what it is. Isn't that the potion that allows you to transform into someone else? Well, this gives some hints.

My curiosity took the better of me as I wiped the window slowly.

A barely noticeable squeaky noise resounded.  I looked in, worried if he heard it, and was frozen.

Half of the compartment was filled with something black.  And it was moving. I finally noticed the pair of bulgy hands holding something. After a moment I realized that this black thing was very much alive and even humanoid.

I saw veins filled with blood. A clawed hands holding onto a child's body. A big toothy snout was attached to a poor kid, pumping all the blood out of him.

As silently as possible, I tried to flee.

I was frightened like never before. The humongous, weird-looking thing made me tremble.

I took just one step, never leaving the sight of this thing. In a fraction of a second it turned it's head towards me and our eyes met just for a little moment. But I understood immediately. I must run.

And I did. As fast as my body allowed me to.

Thinking that the hallway is not the best place to hide, and the trolley witch being too far away, I entered a random compartment.

There were two girls, a blonde and a brunette sitting there. They eyed me strangely, wondering why I barged in like that.

I heard heavy stomps, which indicated that the creature was coming this way.

Instead of explaining myself to the girls I looked at the window. It had two sections. The lower section was fixed and could not be opened. The upper section, however, wasn't. And had a gap big enough for a child to fit.

I took off my robe, tied one sleeve onto the handle of the upper window and another sleeve onto my hand. I climbed on one of the seats and almost jumped out of the window.

I was now outside, hanging on my robe. Placing my legs on small protrusions of the train I barely managed to hide so that I won't be seen from inside the train. Even though almost half of my body was still visible, I had hope.

I heard a loud smashing sound. The compartment door flew in my direction and hit the lower section of the window, breaking it almost completely.

I was trembling. From the fear and from my body being strained too much.

The girls were screaming their lungs out. Squealing and shouting. But it stopped promptly and was replaced by something tearing apart. I couldn't see anything from my angle, trying to hide as much as possible.

The creature seemed to leave the compartment. The train was shaking uncontrollably from it's movements. Threatening to fall to the side.

I heard a weird swishing sound accompanied by the flashes of light. The sounds continued for a whole minute. And my body was already too tired to keep on hanging.

I entered the train through the broken window.

Next thing I heard was an explosion that seemed to tear the metallic frame of the train. I looked out, through pieces of broken glass and saw the monster falling into the water.

No other action followed. Ripples on water traveled through the surface of the lake, and vanished soon after I realized that the calamity was gone.

Slightly relieved, I finally looked down, minding my surroundings.

There laid the bodies of two girls. Barely distinguishable. Torn apart. Blood spurted all over the place.

I couldn't help but close my eyes and turn my head away.

The feeling of guilt was overshadowed by the disgusting, gut-wrenching stench.

Covering my nose, I walked out in a hurry.

The scene that awaited me in the hallway wasn't any better.

That was a massacre. Severed limbs were scattered all the way from where I stood till the very end. There were survivors, of course. Some lost their hands or legs. Some were unharmed.

Many of them were wailing in pain.

I walked slowly through the shaking hallway of the train.

I lost focus for who knows how long. My head wasn't filled with thoughts. Just the buzzing noise.

Still holding my nose I went further and further. And I finally saw the shredded bodies of Harry, Hermione and Ron.

At least I can restart this now that they are dead.

Walking past their bodies I saw the trolley witch, who sells sweets. She was wounded. But it didn't seem grave. I approached her as I heard her mumbling something.

"...Fiendfyre-" I barely heard, "I should have used Fiendfyre!" She looked at me dazedly.

"How could I have mistaken that thing for an evil spirit?" She mumbled to herself and I walked past her.

And as I was passing by her trolley, I noticed that there was a door behind it that I didn't pay attention to before. It was probably some kind of a staff room.

There was a broken lock laying on the floor.

I opened the door. It was a small room with stuff for laundry and some keys hanging on the wall. And here a familiar man lay, chained to a table. Maxwell Inkwood.

I felt frightened at first. But remembering that the creature was kicked out of the train I relaxed a bit.

He was unconscious. Perhaps the creature chained him here? And he was the real Maxwell?

I did see the polyjuice stains. So it means that the monster can transform into other people.

With a knew plan formed in my head, I sat down and waited patiently, trying not to pay attention to people's cries. It wasn't long before the notification came again.
