Chapter 139: Yun Xiangxiang’s Secret Hobby
Most people wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation of The Star of Peace even if they considered the long term collaboration.
Yun Xiangxiang could become rich overnight if she took The Star of Peace to an auction house. She wouldn’t need to worry about her life after that.
An adolescent girl that was smiled upon by Lady Luck could calm down so quickly and return the jewel without any change in expression.
Everyone was praising this young lady’s forebearance after the news was released today.
Yun Xiangxiang left some impression last time when she became MonRoe’s spokesperson. That impression was now carved deep in everyone’s minds this time.
Since then, the Star of Peace and Yun Xiangxiang have become linked in everyone’s minds, and the thought of the Star of Peace would inevitable invoke thoughts of Yun Xiangxiang.
It was difficult for Chinese actors to leave some impression on Western countries. The geographical difference dictated that foreigners might not understand the works that the Chinese loved.
That was why the actors that became famous overseas with their works were scarce. Foreigners also thought that the nation’s actors’ acting skills were dubious. They wouldn’t invite the any foreign actors to take any important roles.
Yun Xiangxiang’s episode could be said as walking down a different path. It was just like that time when she became famous in the country through the National College Entrance Exam.
“When will it be?” Yun Xiangxiang asked.
“You have to strike while the iron is still hot. The shooting for the interview will be done the day after tomorrow. The issue will be published next month,” He Wei smiled. “Being NI.G’s spokesperson shouldn’t be a problem now. Do you still want to go to “e-one”‘s interview?”
Going to “e-one”‘s interview was because they needed to fill the blank that was the insufficiency of international influence. It was done because they wanted NI.G.
Now they had secured cover page of “FE”‘s monthly issue. Even though February’s issue wasn’t the new year’s issue, it was already important enough.
“Of course. Why wouldn’t I go?” Yun Xiangxiang didn’t think that she had the right to brush “e-one” off just because she could go to “FE” now.
“I can’t omit a film where the director isn’t as famous as Director Wu just because I starred in Director Wu’s film, right?”
This wasn’t Yun Xiangxiang’s style. She never felt that she should look down at anyone below her just because she got one step higher.
“Besides, Milan is different to New York. This is also Brother Jing’s favor.” Not going means that she would be slapping Lu Jing in the face.
He Wei nodded appreciatively, “Very good.”
Yun Xiangxiang liked He Wei praising her, yet she didn’t know why. Her attitude was not unlike an elementary school student meeting her teacher when she was facing He Wei.
That was why her smile blossomed, “Oh, right, Brother Wei. Austin hoped that I could go to a charity dinner the day after tomorrow.”
“I went to see a friend yesterday. I plan to take you to that charity dinner too,” He Wei knew about this. “Expanding your horizons helps you too. It won’t delay your plan of going back home for the New Year.
The pioneer for this charity dinner was a big name in New York City. Lots of actors and actresses from Hollywood would take part in it too. China didn’t have any actors taking part in this charity dinner so far.
Nobody could just waltz into this charity dinner even if they wanted to.
Even Austin had to bow his head to snag this opportunity for Yun Xiangxiang.
“Do I need to prepare anything?” Yun Xiangxiang asked carefully. This must be different to those she went to in her previous life.
“I won’t say anything about etiquette. Either you prepare something that you want to be auctioned off, or you get ready to bid something,” said He Wei. “I trust that you know what is important in this.”
The participants for this kind of large-scale new year charity dinner which were famous and rich were doing it for charity purposes.
Even though it wasn’t stipulated, going there empty-handed wouldn’t look good on her. What more, she was Chinese. If she messed it up, they wouldn’t only see her as an individual [1].
However, it was quite the hurdle for Yun Xiangxiang to take out something that could be auctioned off. It didn’t need to be enamored by everyone, but at least someone must be willing to buy it.
Even though she knew that Austin wouldn’t let her embarrass herself since he invited her.
However, if Austin bought the item that she auctioned, everyone would know what happened even though they would put on a show.

If they wanted her to bid though, her finances were tight. Not to mention that she would offend someone easily.
Trying to snatch something from someone meant taking away what they loved. Besides, she was new here. She couldn’t know about the stories here.
She didn’t want to interrupt someone else’s plan again and make another enemy.
Yun Xiangxiang still felt that donating an item to the auction was safer after deliberating about it.
Song Mian wanted to accompany Yun Xiangxiang to file a police record for that event himself. He Wei went to arrange his business.
Yun Xiangxiang spoke about what happened once. However, she didn’t say a word about her conjectures and suspicions.
She would not use her subjectivity to influence the police’s judgment even if she might not have that kind of influence.
Yun Xiangxiang got into Song Mian’s car after she finished the record, “Ah Mian, why don’t we go to the flea market?”
“Going to scavenge for some treasure?” Song Mian placed one hand on the steering wheel while he turned his head aside and smiled at her.
“I know that you have a lot of great stuff for me to auction off. I also know that Austin would prepare some items for auction.”
Yun Xiangxiang said honestly, “I also know that I may not be able to find any treasure to sell off, but I need to try.”
Her chance was slim. However, she couldn’t just enjoy the fruits of other people’s labor while she did nothing.
Besides, she was curious about this legendary place. She had not entered that place in her previous and present life.
The most important part was that this was her first time shopping with her boyfriend.
Since they couldn’t do it in the country, then they could only do it overseas.
“We need to disguise ourselves.”
Song Mian took Yun Xiangxiang to change into casual couple attire. Yun Xiangxiang wore a baseball cap and a pair of sunglasses. This was a common outfit. Half the face was hidden. It would be hard to recognize even if any photos were taken.
There were also Chinese reporters overseas. There were still a lot of Chinese who were paying attention to the nation’s news constantly.
Both of them were similar to the couples who were vacationing in New York City.
The more relaxed they were, the less attention they attracted. Yun Xiangxiang felt incredibly happy about this.
This was the first time she was walking on the streets freely with a beverage in one hand and her loved one beside her.
The flea market was a second-hand market. There were stalls and shops. All of them placed their items at random.
Yun Xiangxiang and Song Mian stopped at some stalls to observe them. They noticed that it was the same everywhere. They loved to make a killing out of tourists.
There were also a lot of stuff which had Chinese elements in them.
After they turned a corner, Yun Xiangxiang was attracted by a shop when she heard the silvery sound of a windchime.
“This wind chime is really unique,” Yun Xiangxiang held the windchime in her hand and waved at Song Mian.
The windchime was a small wooden block. The most interesting part was that the wooden block was made into mahjong pieces.
“The wood is fine too,” Song Mian looked at the quality first.
“There’s a nice scent. Could it be made out of sandalwood or agarwood?” That would be too spendthrift if it is.
“No, it’s just ordinary machilus. This one was probably bought from our countryman.”
Machilus and mahjong were the love of Chinese.
“I love it. I’m buying this,” Yun Xiangxiang had a secret hobby: playing mahjong!
Song Mian went off to enquire about the price from the shopkeeper. Yun Xiangxiang continued looking around. She discovered that this shop had a lot of stuff.
