“Yun Xiangxiang here. Hello, Teacher Deng,” Yun Xiangxiang returned the handshake.
“I trust that you know why I am here,” Deng Yang cut to the chase. “I am sincerely asking you to join my team.”
“Can I know your reasons for choosing me?” Yun Xiangxiang did not shy away from questioning either.
“Well, for one, your image matches my new brand’s image of growth.”
“Secondly, you enjoy a certain degree of fame in New York, and I plan on establishing my brand here.”
“Third, nobody can offer you better terms than me.”
“Fourth, you shall achieve the greatest sense of accomplishment from partnering with me.”
Deng Yang explained her reasons clearly.
“Image? So your new brand is targeting young women?” Yun Xiangxiang asked for the details.
“Not exactly. I am targeting all ages.” Deng Yang answered. “I chose you because my new brand will focus on China’s traditional craft.”
Yun Xiangxiang’s interest was quickly piqued.
“I will be incorporating a lot of Chinese elements in my brand. From the materials, designs, the sewing, and the theme.”
“As far as I am concerned, your expertise lay in Western designs.” Yun Xiangxiang raised her doubt.
“I have been researching Eastern designs during my five years of fighting cancer,” Deng Yang answered.
Yun Xiangxiang nodded, “You chose to start a new brand in New York. And that brand is based on Chinese elements. What direction is your brand taking?”
“Haute couture,” Deng Yang replied unhesitatingly. “I went to many of our nation’s ancient places during my recovery. I found many ancient handcrafts. With these hands, I believe I can stun the fashion industry with my brand.
“You can actually find some investors or partners.” Even if she had seen better days, Deng Yang’s talent was still with her. As long as Deng Yang wanted to find them, Yun Xiangxiang trusted that she could do it.
“My last failure told me that I must call all the shots,” Deng Yang replied coldly. “I don’t have a huge amount of capital. The fastest way to fame is to find an actor who is just starting to shine both domestically and overseas. I know about your growth from He Wei. It’s as if you were born for my brand.”
She was already 45. The slow and steady pace was already something of the past. To make things worse, she had an ex-husband who did not want to see her succeed.
“Then here’s to a happy partnership,” Yun Xiangxiang extended her hand.
Even the decisive Deng Yang was surprised by this. Yun Xiangxiang only enquired about the first two reasons. She did not pry further about the last two reasons, which were related to her own profits.
“You believe in my potential, and I believe in your skills. Partners must trust each other,” Yun Xiangxiang smiled gracefully.
“You have an irresistible charm,” Deng Yang had never given anyone such high praise before.
“Ah, this charm of mine has no place it can call home. I can’t do anything about it either,” Yun Xiangxiang held her face in her hands, as a cheeky smile played on her face.
She amused the usually serious Deng Yang, and the atmosphere lightened up a little.
“You might have not asked about it, but I still have to say this. I’ll be giving you two ways to go about our partnership,” Deng Yang needed to finish what she had to say. She and Yun Xiangxiang were busy people after all.
“The first way goes like this. I guarantee that you will receive a million yuan annually as your endorsement fee. If my gross revenue exceeds ten million yuan, you will receive ten percent of the net profit.”
“The second way goes like this. You invest in my brand with your image and influence. I will give you ten percent of the shares.”
The former guaranteed Yun Xiangxiang profits. No matter the outcome of Deng Yang’s new venture, she would still receive money. The latter would be asking her to share the risk of the brand.
“I choose the second way. I don’t really understand the details. You can talk about it with Brother Wei,” Yun Xiangxiang replied without hesitation.
Putting aside the fact that Yun Xiangxiang thought highly of Deng Yang, her spreading Chinese culture was already reason enough for Yun Xiangxiang to help her as much as she could even without profits.

“Then we shall be partners from today onwards,” Deng Yang raised her glass. “Here’s to a happy partnership.”
“I want to get involved in this too. Teacher Deng, do please consider me if you have trouble with capital,” Lu Jin raised his glass too.
“You will be the first on my list when I add men’s clothing into my brand,” Deng Yang toasted to him joyfully.
Yun Xiangxiang gave her image to a clothing brand just like that. All the brands who sought her out after that were rejected.
He Wei and Deng Yang must have drafted the partnership terms before as the contract came out the next day.
“Huh, why are there two of them?” Yun Xiangxiang flipped through them.
“One of them is about your partnership with Teacher Deng. That’s all yours. The other one is about the endorsement fee you get from endorsing your own brand with your own image. This is for the company,” He Wei explained.
“You can even do that?” Yun Xiangxiang looked at He Wei touchingly. “Brother Wei, why don’t you just become my brother? You are just too nice.”
Yun Xiangxiang did not mind sharing half of her share profits after this with the company.
She wouldn’t be here today without He Wei. Deng Yang wouldn’t even seek her out. He Wei was a part of Huan Yu Century Entertainment.
He Wei was different from Wen Lan. The shares of Huan Yu Century Entertainment he got all by himself aside, he still had Huan Yu Century Entertainment’s shares that were left by his late father.
As Huan Yu Century Entertainment’s shareholder, Huan Yu’s profits were his profits.
“Finally not father and daughter anymore?” He Wei looked sideways at Yun Xiangxiang.
Yun Xiangxiang gave him a politely awkward smile.
Deng Yang rushed to New York after signing the contract. Yun Xiangxiang and He Wei went back to China.
Lu Jin had the ad’s promotional video on the day of Yun Xiangxiang’s return. He immediately posted it online, and it attracted a huge crowd of fans glueing their eyes on the screen.
