When they bumped into each other back in the corridor, Dai Hua’s reaction wasn’t fake.
He could guess she had already started suspecting them just by seeing them once. That alone proved how sharp his senses were.
Yun Xiangxiang remembered Captain Luo mentioning that Dai Hua was the one who scouted the place and made plans for their initiation mission.
His plan was nearly flawless. He was a talent in this matter, but he was forced to walk the path of crime because of reality’s cruelty.
When he knew Yun Xiangxiang was the reason they were arrested, he didn’t blame her. Instead, he even warned her of the danger waiting for her.
If it weren’t because of him, Yun Xiangxiang probably wouldn’t guess that the criminals were already setting their eyes on the stone.
Nor would she know that they were already around her, hiding in plain sight. If she hadn’t been warned, the results could be disastrous.
In a way, Yun Xiangxiang owed him one.
“She likes you, you know,” Dai Hua suddenly said.
Yun Xiangxiang was startled for a moment, and tears started welling up in her eyes. Dai Hua said that he warned her not because he was kind, but because the one he loved was Yun Xiangxiang’s fan.
Yun Xiangxiang never thought that an idol like her could be saved because of her fan.
“Then all the more reason I have to see her,” Yun Xiangxiang smiled.
Dai Hua finally told her the hospital’s name, and he thanked her.
“You are a good man. I’ll tell the cops about your help. They might lessen your punishment. I hope you’ll see a healthy her after you’re out.”
Dai Hua might not be a righteous person, but he was a good man. He gave the woman he loved something most men wouldn’t be able to. It might not be encouraged, but it was touching.
“Be careful. He’s very vindictive,” Dai Hua reminded. “I once saw him tear someone limb from limb just because they got cold feet.”
Someone who joined the group at the same time he did wanted to back out. The boss showed them a video of how he tore someone limb from limb with gloves on to scare them.
He could still see the hands that seemed to claw up from hell itself. The white, plastic gloves turned bloody crimson as the video went on.
Yun Xiangxiang’s hairs stood on end just by listening to it. No wonder they didn’t dare to sell the boss out. The way he killed was cruel.
If someone like him were not arrested, more innocent lives would be taken by him.
As she came out of the police station, the scorching sun shone on her. Even so, she still felt chilly. A jade-obsessed maniac was targeting her.
He could have just given the ones who had cold feet a quick death if he was afraid of being exposed. But he still chose to dismember them alive and even live-streamed it to others.
“He has medical knowledge, to an extent,” Yun Xiangxiang realized.
Dai Hua said he dismembered them, not chopped them up. Dismemberment required skills. It wasn’t something just anyone could understand.
Yun Xiangxiang thought about how this person would approach and attack her.
“If you can figure out what this kind of monster is thinking, you’re close to becoming one yourself,” He Wei advised. “Captain Luo did say that he’s in Beijing. I don’t think your parents are in any danger. I’ll keep an eye out for your brother.”
Yun Xiangxiang nodded. She wasn’t as worried now. She knew this man was coming after her.
Even so, she needed to tell Yun Lin never to step out of class until Qianqian went to fetch him herself.

“Jiu Se”‘s filming was finally done two days later. Yun Xiangxiang posted a Weibo status after they had finished wrapping up. It was only on the twelfth of June. She was planning to go home and study by herself. If she went to campus, the man had a lot of chances to attack her. She also couldn’t allow any innocents to be collateral damage.
Han Zhaolin planned to send two bodyguards for her after knowing her situation. But having guys as her bodyguards would be inconvenient.
Yun Xiangxiang came across a traffic accident on the way home. She wasn’t the one involved. A car ran a red light and crashed into a woman with her child. There were a lot of onlookers. Some of them called the police and an ambulance.
Nobody went up to help. Yun Xiangxiang asked Song Qian to take a look. Song Qian wasn’t a doctor by profession, but she knew a few things.
She took the first aid kit out of the trunk and quickly gave them some first aid. When she confirmed they could move, they had to be sent to the hospital, fast. Yun Xiangxiang gave them some space.
She had to leave the bodyguards Han Zhaolin sent to her. As she couldn’t stay, lest she was photographed, she went into the passenger seat.
Ai Li was driving. Song Qian took care of the injured in the backseat.
After sending them to the hospital, it was a whole ton of procedures again. Before their family could be contacted, the one who sent the injured to the hospital would pay for the emergency treatment.
Song Qian and Ai Li were busy with the procedures. Suddenly, Yun Xiangxiang felt someone looking at her coldly. She looked around but didn’t see anyone suspicious.
With everyone being busy here, Yun Xiangxiang didn’t want to leave. All of a sudden, a family member of some patient argued with the nurse.
For some reason, reporters swarmed the hospital. Cameras flashed as they photographed Yun Xiangxiang.
“Yun Xiangxiang. I heard you hit someone with your car?”
“Yun Xiangxiang, can you tell me about how the injured are doing right now?”
“Yun Xiangxiang, do you know that this behavior will impact society badly?”
“…”
The reporters bombarded her with questions.
The hospital staff and Song Qian returned and blocked these reporters.
Yun Xiangxiang was asked by the medical staff to go to a relatively isolated place. They didn’t want any more reporters barging in and disturbing the patients.
Yun Xiangxiang didn’t enter the room. She stood in the corridor, not giving any chances for anyone to attack her from the sides. She leaned against the wall, her guard fully up.
The nurses in front of her went outside. Something seemingly happened. Yun Xiangxiang’s heart sank.
She heard the sound of a gurney skidding through the corridor. Yun Xiangxiang saw a muscular man wearing a white coat and a mask pushing the gurney and closing in on her. Her hairs stood on end.
The pitter-patter of the leather shoes stepping on the ground was harsh to the ears.
The man didn’t look at her. His hand, which was pushing the gurney, appeared in her sights as he got closer.
There was no ring on his thumbs. But one section of its skin was fairer than the other parts.
This was caused by wearing something that blocked out the sunlight. Yun Xiangxiang could guess who he was now.
Yun Xiangxiang started to run. He suddenly pushed the gurney, hurtling it toward Yun Xiangxiang. She stopped in her tracks and pushed down on the gurney. The moment he pounced on her, she jumped over the gurney and pushed it toward him.
The man didn’t expect Yun Xiangxiang to know some moves. He thought he could get her straight away, but she escaped.
He pushed the gurney aside and chased after Yun Xiangxiang.
To prevent anyone from harassing Yun Xiangxiang, she was at the end of the corridor. No stairs were leading up or down in front of her. There was only a washroom.
