The next day on set—

“Alright. That should be enough. Wait, no—I need to wrap this one more time. I don’t want you catching a cold. Oh, and the hot pack…” Jiang Sheng wrapped Ning Xue with his scarf and coat tight like a Christmas present, worried she might get sick.

His manager walked over and caught everything—she was already used to it. “The female lead has arrived,” she said. “The director is asking for you.”

“Got it.” Jiang Sheng returned to his cold and aloof manner once he turned away from Ning Xue, speaking as little as possible.

As Jiang Sheng showed professionalism in his job, his acting, temperament, and character were all faultless—his manager had nothing to worry about. His female costar was Lucy, also known as the next Anne Hathaway. She was pretty, captivating all men around the world.

Thinking that they had quite a several intimate scenes to be filmed that day, Jiang Sheng’s manager peeped at Ning Xue a few times, but the latter didn’t notice her at all.

The first scene involved the female lead searching for her love interest, who had suffered from amnesia. The first part mainly concerned the female lead and the male lead’s father. The male lead had only one shot.

“Ready, action!”

As the actor took one last puff of his cigarette before throwing it away, he rolled up his window. Slouching with his legs wide, he looked at his watch before placing the same hand on the steering wheel, tapping slowly. Not long after, his phone rang. He pulled it out and pressed the answer tab.

“Hello?”

The camera now cut to Jiang Sheng, who was standing on the other side of the road.

At the moment, he was a silhouette, but the setting was that he had just recalled everything from the past. When the camera zoomed in on him, Ning Xue could feel his immersion in the plot—he portrayed his helplessness, sadness, and struggles. The staff on set gasped a little. The corner of Ning Xue’s mouth twitched up—as expected of him.

“Dad? When will you come home?”

The camera shifted away.

“Soon.” The father leaned against the driver’s seat lazily, closing his eyes as he rested. Sometime later, he heard someone knocking at his window. He lowered it with his eyes squinted. He flinched.

A woman’s head popped through the window of her black car. With her curls cascading down and her features a delicate porcelain doll, she had looked like God’s best creation. Her skin was fair as snow, flawless. Aloof but polite, she spoke first, “Hello. Could you tell me how I could get to this street?”

The father pointed at the freeway to their right. “Take the turn at the third fork and drive ahead.”

The woman flashed a smile. “Thanks.” She rolled her window back up and sped off.

“And cut! That was amazing. Let’s take five.”

As the director called cut, Jiang Sheng thought he could have his break then. He wanted to look for his wife, but he didn’t expect the director to move on to his next scene. He sighed.

Ning Xue was waiting for Jiang Sheng, but Lucy showed up instead.

“So you are the one Jiang Sheng’s married to?” Lucy’s voice came before she stood close to Ning Xue, her high heels clicking against the floor as she approached her. Her red dress had outlined her feminine curves, showing off her perfect proportions, her French curls rested wavy down one side of her shoulder. She was glaring at Ning Xue with her arm held out.

“Hello there. Should I introduce myself? I’m Lucy.”

But Ning Xue’s gaze only stopped on her for a second before darting away, leaving her in an awkward stance. Lucy winced in displeasure. How dare she? She was a Hollywood top celebrity, and she was showing courtesy and friendliness for the sake of Jiang Sheng.

“What are you trying to hide under all this thick clothing?” Lucy continued. “Don’t you know how to speak? You ugly gold-digger. I don’t care how blind Jiang Sheng was—you have to divorce him.”

Jiang Sheng’s manager gasped, frightened by Lucy’s speech. She scanned the area for any paparazzi, afraid that they’d appear in tomorrow’s headlines. Luckily there weren’t any. “Ms. Lucy, why don’t I get you a cup of coffee? You can have your break over there—”

“Excuse me. I don’t care who you are, so shut up.” Lucy tilted her chin up high and turned back to Ning Xue. “You know nothing. Jiang Sheng lost so much of his endorsement because of the marriage thing..”
