The first scene in the afternoon was when the female lead moved into the building across the male lead. Here, they would form a telepathic connection as they reminisced.
“Ready, everyone? Action!”
The female lead walked to the entrance and turned the lock. The door clicked. She advanced to the window and pulled the curtains, leaving a tiny hole for her spying activity using her binoculars. She looked through the lenses.
The man across the building was distracted, moping in his apartment. It was until the afternoon that he had an episode of a faster heartbeat. He was perplexed about it but didn’t take note of it. He lay on his bed, closing his eyes like a sleeping angel. Yet, something bothered him: it was as if someone was peeking at him from the dark. He inched towards the window and yanked the curtains open, and he found nothing. Still, the feeling was there.
Jiang Sheng did a great job disappearing into his role there.
The female lead finally saw the man she had been yearning for all this while. Though it was one glimpse, it was worth it.
Then, the man got downstairs, dawdling around the swing in the playground.
The woman pulled her curtains open. She could already imagine the pleasant and soothing view waiting for her next, looking through the sheer. She lifted it and slid the balcony door open, taking in the first breath of fresh air. There was a bamboo chair on her balcony with a few pots of flowers and shrubs. Down the balcony on the ground floor was thee green lawn and a pond inhabited with thousands of lotus leaves. Instantly, she brightened up.
As her gaze glided to the right, she saw a swing. And right next to it was a man squatting on the ground, his head lowered. Her grip tightened on the railing. “Jack…” she whispered, her voice so low it was indiscernible.
That instant, the man stopped what he was doing—fidgeting—and looked up.
The woman tucked her hair behind her ears, letting out a faint smile.
“There’s the classic—I want nothing but perfection. Lucy, can I get a teardrop from you?”
“Great. That’s it. Jiang Sheng, you’re doing wonderful. Keep at it.”
“Good work, guys. Let’s take a break before your next intimate scene. You might want to talk about it, discuss how to take things up a notch.”
Ning Xue, who was scrolling through her phone, came across someone posting a picture of their set online just moments ago—when did the paparazzi arrive? She scanned the area as she pursed her lips. It looked like someone didn’t learn her lesson yet.
“Things might get a little hot later on. I hope your wife over there won’t get angry.”
Jiang Sheng remained focused on the script, holding back a frown. He didn’t want any other interactions other than anything that had to do with the set.
“You didn’t have to act so indifferently. We were from the same college, remember? Maybe we can get coffee some other time.”
Jiang Sheng threw her a glare. “If you aren’t going to talk about work, then scram.” What was she trying to do—seduce him? With that face? Pfft. He already had the prettiest woman on earth. Gentlemanly, he didn’t react to her pretentious manners with sarcasm. He knew well she was there today because she slept her way up.
Lucy couldn’t hide the humiliation written on her face. She was known for her looks resembling Anne Hathaway, but Jiang Sheng hadn’t paid her any attention ever since their first day on set.
She thought if there was something wrong, perhaps with her charms. The next thing she knew, the reporters had already arrived. Well, all she had to do now was to make a scandal out of their sensual scenes coming next. Then, they’d go viral. It was bound to happen when anyone was associated with Jiang Sheng.
“In 3, 2, 1, action!”
The man came to the woman’s door. He knocked, but no one came. Just when he was about to try again, the door opened. A delicate figure crashed into his chest, her scent creeping into his nose. In reflex, he caught her, his hands grabbing her arms.
“Why did you come?” the woman’s voice was soft, slightly pitched.
The man reached for her forehead, testing her temperature. “Get changed. We’re going to the hospital.”
The woman wore a pink nightdress, the deep V of her collar exposing her chest as she wasn’t wearing anything beneath.
“Cut!”
The second the director called it, Jiang Sheng snapped out of his emotions and shoved Lucy away. Subtly, he patted on his clothes as if something dirty had come into contact with him..
