Jaxon was returning from a delivery mission, piloting his spaceship, The Star Explorer. He had just completed a successful delivery of supplies to a remote mining colony and was on his way back to civilization. As he settled into the cockpit of his ship, he couldn’t help but smile, proud of a job well done.
“Alright, SAM, let’s set a course for home,” Jaxon said, eager to get back to his family and friends.
“Right away, captain,” the ship’s AI, named S.A.M., replied with a hint of sarcasm in its voice. “Where to this time? Back to your mom’s basement?”
Jaxon rolled his eyes, used to S.A.M.’s snarky attitude. “Ha ha, very funny. Just set a course for home, please.”
“As you wish, captain,” S.A.M. said, with a touch of mock obedience.
Jaxon was used to S.A.M.’s sense of humor, or lack thereof, and chose to ignore it. He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes for a moment. Suddenly, his peaceful moment was interrupted by a distress signal.
“Captain, we’ve received a distress call from planet Fyl,” S.A.M. reported.
Jaxon sat up, suddenly alert. “What kind of distress?” he asked, reaching for the controls.
“It’s a general distress call, captain,” S.A.M. replied. “The source is unknown, but it’s coming from the surface of the planet.”
Jaxon didn’t hesitate. He quickly set a course for the planet and engaged the engines, sending The Star Explorer into hyperspace.
“SAM, estimate time to arrival at Fyl,” Jaxon said, his eyes fixed on the navigation screen.
“Arrival at Fyl in approximately 5 minutes, captain,” S.A.M. replied.
Jaxon nodded, his mind already turning to the task ahead. He had never been to Fyl before, so he accessed the general archives and to his luck there was a file with the planets description. On opening the file he came to know that Fyl was a lush, forested planet with rolling hills, rivers, and lakes. It was covered in dense foliage, with towering trees and a vibrant array of flora and fauna and home to the native kind knows as the Flax.
As the ship approached the planet, Jaxon prepared to make his descent. “SAM, initiate landing protocol,” he said.
“Initiating landing protocol, captain,” S.A.M. replied.
Jaxon couldn’t help but smile as he felt the ship begin to descend. Despite the seriousness of the mission, he couldn’t shake the feeling of excitement. This was what he lived for – the thrill of adventure, the unknown.
As The Star Explorer passed through the stratosphere, Jaxon caught sight of a group of creatures on the surface. They were humanoid in shape, but with cat-like features.
“SAM, what are those creatures?” Jaxon asked, leaning forward in his seat for a better look.
“They appear to be Flax, a species native to this planet.” S.A.M. replied. “The Flax are a species of aliens that resemble humanoid foxes, with fur and cunning wit who have a deep connection to nature and have lived in harmony with their planet for thousands of years.”
“Huh!! So that’s what they look like?” Jaxon asked.
“Yes, what did you expect a box of kitten sleeping?” S.A.M. replied with a hint of sarcasm.
“Ha ha, set us down, nice and easy SAM” Jaxon replied.
“Aye Aye captain”
As the ship descended, Jaxon could see that the Flax were having a party. They were dancing and laughing, completely unaware of the approaching spacecraft.
As the ship touched down, Jaxon quickly made his way out of the cockpit and towards the group of Flax. They turned towards him, their cat-like eyes narrowing as they took in the strange visitor.
“Greetings,” Jaxon said, approaching the group with his hands raised in a gesture of peace. “I am Jaxon, a space explorer. I received a distress signal from this planet and I have come to assist.”
The Flax looked at each other, communicating silently amongst themselves. Then, one of them stepped forward, a smile spreading across its face.
“Welcome, Jaxon,” the Flax said, its voice musical and light. “We are the Flax, and we are having a celebration. We would be honored if you joined us.”
Jaxon was taken aback by the invitation, but he didn’t hesitate. He knew that the best way to learn about a new species was to immerse oneself in their culture.
“I would be delighted to join you,” Jaxon said, bowing respectfully.
The Flax led Jaxon to the center of the party, where a table was overflowing with food and drinks. Jaxon was introduced to the other Flax, and he was amazed at their hospitality.
As he settled in and began to enjoy the party, Jaxon couldn’t help but feel grateful for this unexpected detour. He had come to Fyl on a mission, but he was leaving with a new appreciation for the wonders of the universe and the diversity of its inhabitants.
As Jaxon and the Flax continued their celebration, a dark cloud suddenly descended over the planet. Jaxon looked up and saw a fleet of ships descending from the sky, their weapons firing indiscriminately at the lush forest below.
“What’s happening?” Jaxon asked, turning to the Flax in alarm.
The Flax were equally frightened, their eyes wide with fear. “It’s the Xyrons,” one of them said. “They are a warlike species that have been trying to conquer our planet for years. We thought we had managed to hold them off, but it seems that we miscalculated.”
Jaxon knew he had to act fast. He quickly made his way back to The Star Explorer and jumped into the cockpit.
“SAM,” he said, his voice tense. “We have to help the Flax. Can you arm the weapons?”
“Arming weapons, captain,” S.A.M. replied, its tone now deadly serious. “Preparing for battle.”
Jaxon engaged the ship’s thrusters and took to the sky, to fight against the swarm of small Xyron fighter ships and their mothership. The battle was intense and relentless, with laser fire crisscrossing the sky. Jaxon and S.A.M. worked in tandem, dodging incoming fire and taking out Xyrons ships one by one.
Despite their efforts, the Xyrons continued to gain ground, and Jaxon realized that they were up against a formidable enemy. He looked down at the planet, seeing the Flax fighting trying to hold their ground, but they were vastly outnumbered.
“SAM, can you target their mothership and look for any weaknesses?” he asked. “If we can take that out, it might turn the tide of this battle.”
“Affirmative. Targeting and scanning the mother ship for weaknesses, captain,” S.A.M. replied.
With swift action Jason engaged the ship’s thrusters to maximum and aligned his ship to target the mothership.
Abroad the Xyron mothership. Xyron soldier“Commander an unknown ship is heading straight for us “
Xyron Commander: “Target their weapons systems and take them out! I want them destroyed before they can get anymore close”
The Star Explorer was shaking violently as Jaxon tried to maneuver through the intense barrage of laser fire from the Xyrons mothership. S.A.M. was frantically analyzing the ship’s defenses, searching for any weaknesses that they could exploit.
“Jaxon, I’ve found a possible weak point on the ship’s underbelly!” S.A.M. cried out. “It’s heavily guarded, but if we can hit it, it could mean the end of the Xyrons.”

“Alright, let’s do this!” Jaxon replied, gritting his teeth as he flipped the ship over and headed straight for the enemy’s vulnerable spot.
The Xyrons mothership was massive, and as Jaxon approached, he could see the intense laser fire pouring from its weapons systems. He could feel the heat from the beams as they narrowly missed the Star Explorer, and he knew that they were in for the fight of their lives.
“Jaxon, I’m getting readings of incoming missiles!” S.A.M. warned. “We need to take evasive action, fast!”
Jaxon spun the ship around, narrowly avoiding a deadly explosion as the missiles impacted against the Xyrons mothership. He could feel the ship shaking and groaning under the stress of the intense battle, but he refused to give up.
“SAM, can you give me a more precise reading on that weak point?” Jaxon asked, his eyes locked on the enemy ship.
“Affirmative, Jaxon,” S.A.M. replied. “But the odds of hitting it are only 10%. We have to make this shot count, or it’s all over.”
Back in the Xyron mothership.
Xyron Commander: “What’s going on? Why isn’t their ship exploding?”
Xyron Targeting Officer: "It seems as though he is using advanced evasive tactics, making it difficult for us to lock onto him."
Xyron Weapon Officer: “Commander, they’re targeting our weak point! We need to move, now!”
Xyron Commander: “All power to the deflector shields! I want that weak point protected at all costs!”
Jaxon took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves as he lined up the shot. The Xyrons mothership was looming larger and larger in front of him, its weapons systems blazing away.
“Here we go!” Jaxon shouted, his eyes fixed on the target. “Firing all weapons!”
The Star Explorer unleashed a barrage of laser fire, the beams lancing towards the Xyron mothership with deadly precision. The Xyrons’ shields flickered and failed, their weapons falling silent as Jaxon’s shots hit their target.
“Direct hit!” S.A.M said. “Their shields are down! It’s now or never, Captain! Take them out!”
The Star Explorer shook as its weapons systems unleashed another barrage of laser fire, slamming into the exposed Xyrons mothership weak point. Jaxon could feel the impact as the ship’s hull crumpled under the force of the attack, but he held on, waiting for the result.
Xyron mothership. Commander: “What happened?”
Xyron Engineer: “Commander, they hit the weak point. The entire ship is mere seconds from exploding.”
Xyron Commander: “Impossible! How could they have known about our weakness?”
For what felt like an eternity, there was silence. Jaxon held his breath, waiting to see if they had succeeded.
And then, suddenly, the Xyrons mothership exploded in a massive fireball, debris raining down all around them. Jaxon whooped in triumph as S.A.M. let out a cheerful beep.
“We did it, Jaxon! We took down the Xyrons mothership!” S.A.M. exclaimed.
“Yeah, we did,” Jaxon replied with a smile, feeling a sense of pride and satisfaction wash over him. “But let’s not get too cocky there still more Xyron ships.”
“Actually no. It seems like the rest of the fleet has retreated after seeing their mothership destroyed.” S.A.M replied.
“Oh okay.” Jaxon said.
“What you sound disappointed, we did just destroy a mothership you knows” S.A.M replied.
“Yeah. Damage report?” Jaxon asked.
“We took some heavy hits, but the ship’s systems are still functioning. We were lucky this time.” S.A.M replied.
“Lucky? I’d say it was more than just luck. That was some spot on calculations, SAM.”
“Thank you, Jaxon. But I have to remind you, it was your aim that took down the mothership. Without your precision, we wouldn’t be here.”
Jaxon descended towards the lush, forested planet of Fyl, feeling a sense of relief wash over him as the intense battle with the Xyrons was finally over. As he landed, he was greeted by a group of Flax he had encountered earlier. They were all smiles and excitement, eager to thank Jaxon for his help in defeating the Xyrons.
“Jaxon, you have saved our planet!” one of the Flax exclaimed, a broad grin spreading across its feline face. “We are in your debt.”
“It was nothing,” Jaxon replied modestly, feeling a sense of pride at his role in the battle. “I’m just glad I could help.”
The Flax led Jaxon to a massive gathering in the center of the planet, where a massive party was underway. Jaxon was greeted with cheers and applause as he approached, and he soon found himself surrounded by smiling faces, eager to thank him for his help.
“Jaxon, you are our hero!” one of the Flax exclaimed, holding up a cup filled with a strange, sparkling liquid. “Please, join us in a toast to your bravery.”
Jaxon took the cup, feeling a sense of warmth spread through him as he sipped the sweet, effervescent liquid. He found himself laughing and joking with the Flax, amazed at how easily he was able to connect with these strange and wonderful creatures.
As the night went on, Jaxon found himself enjoying the company of the Flax more and more. They were kind and generous, always eager to help and make him feel welcome. Jaxon felt a sense of sadness as he realized that he would have to leave this beautiful planet and its wonderful people soon, but he promised himself that he would return one day to visit.
“Captain” S.A.M. called through the comms startling Jaxon from his thoughts.
“What’s up S.A.M.?”
“After thorough analysis from the distress signal we received, I have come to learn that it was a beacon masked as a distress signal “
“You’re joking “
“As much as I would like to am not.” S.A.M. replied with a serious tone. “The signal appears to be coming from a nearby cave. Should I set a course for the cave?”
“Right away. Am on my way to you get the engines fired up”
Jaxon stood up and thanked the Flax for their hospitality while assuring them that he was not leaving but was going to check something out.
As he started the engines and lifted off the ground, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off about that beacon.
