It's a weird coincidence that my heroes and villains are at a Halloween festival during this time of year.

*The Edge of Glory by my beautiful lovely, Lady Gaga. This song for this chapter goes to Michael and Sara.

Enjoy :)

“Who’s that?” wondered little Sara as she pointed to a picture of a fair girl.

Michael was walking into her bedroom, his eyes locking on the picture. He snapped the frame away from his daughter, “None of your concern, Sara.”

Sara’s eyes welled up as her father took the picture away from her hands.

Michael placed the picture down, hugging her in his strong arms, “Oh, sweetie, I didn’t mean that. Don’t cry, you know I hate when you cry.”

Sara sniffed, “It’s okay, daddy.” She threw her arms around him, letting Michael rub his hands along her back.

Michael glanced at the picture that was turned over, “That girl used to be my sister.” He sighed, “If you want to know.”

Sara dug her slender small, frame face into Michael’s chest, “Daddy.”

Michael squeezed his arms even tighter, whispering soft words to her.

After a while, Sara gazed up at him sleepily, rubbing her coal eyes, “Used? What happened to her?”

Michael sighed as he looked down upon his beautiful daughter asking hard questions that made his chest rally up with emotions, “She died of a disease.” His voice caught in his throat as he looked away from Sara, letting out a shaky breath. Tears glistened in his eyes as he tried to blink away them, “It was my fault.”

Sara woke up with a small headache. The curtains were drawn back, sunlight spilling into the room. Her eyes fluttered open as she groaned, rolling over on the other side to go back to sleep. She heard the water running in the bathroom, and Kate humming to herself. Sara rolled over again to check on the clock, which read it was ten in the morning.

She placed her arm over her head, remembering the long night of laughter masking her deep concern for her father. She hadn’t seen her father since they arrived at the hotel and dread seeped inside of her from what Lucifer had said. Did her father actually kill his sister?

Her memory was starting to prickle that maybe she did know all her life Michael had a sister, but she dismissed it easily, knowing her father had many siblings. Sara was starting to slowly recall Michael crying as he held her one night, Sara not knowing what to do.

Eyes were on her and she turned to see who.

Sal. He was leaning against the wall, his head resting on it, “Finally waking up, sleeping beauty?”

Sara sat up, the sheets tangled around her. Her hair needed to be washed and she smelled, “I feel so sweaty.” She drew back the blankets, letting her feet touch the soft carpet. Her mind was going back to the strange dream she had. She remembered slightly that taking place. It has been a long time since she dreamed about the past because of Sal intruding on her mind.

She rubbed her eyes, letting out a yawn, “Kate, are you almost done?”

The bathroom door opened, and Kate walked out with a bath towel covering her, “Yep.”

Sara saw Kate right in front of Sal, “There’s a bug behind you.”

Kate jumped, twirling around, seeing a bare wall. She turned back to Sara with a roll of her eyes, “Very funny.”

Sara give a quick flash of a smile and went into the bathroom, saddened that Sal was always invisible to anyone unless he wanted to be seen. She undressed and turned on the shower, letting the warmth drown away her sorrows. She washed her hair and body, stepped out of the shower, and dried her hair. She glanced at herself in the mirror, her stomach rumbling, “God Sal, do you always have to snap so much fucking energy from me?” She sucked in her breath, seeing the bones of her ribs, “Look at me! Everyone is going to think I have a fucking eating disorder!”

Sal rolled his eyes, and he muttered a little bit of sympathy in his tone, "Sorry."

Sara huffed as she opened the door, steam coming out, “Kate, can you get my costume, underwear, and bra, please? It’s on the chair.”

A second later, clothes were tossed at her and she slipped on her underwear but didn’t need her bra she realized because the dress showed bare shoulders. As she put on the dress, she wasn’t happy to see her cleavage was much exposed.

A knock rapped on the door, “Twenty more minutes until Michael wanted to start heading to the festival!” called out Nathan. Footsteps scuffed away.

Sara opened the bathroom door, frowning, “I need help with my corset.”

Kate nodded, lacing up her high leather brown boots, “Sure.”

“Steampunk renaissance,” grinned Sara, “I like it.”

Kate blushed, “Too kind.” She smiled, “Damn, showing off your assets aye?” She came behind her best friend, tightening the corset and lacing it up.

Sara hugged herself as Kate finished, “I am going to wear my cloak, I hate exposing my breasts, feels strange.”

Kate scoffed, finishing the corset and starting to apply makeup on herself, “Why?”

Sara shrugged as she grabbed a mascara pen, “I don’t know, feels eyes will fall on me, and I don’t want that.”

Kate put blush on her cheeks, “That’s the point, Sara.” She saw Sara was trying to attempt to put eyeliner on herself, but Kate knew she was doing it all wrong. She snatched the eyeliner from Sara, “Here, let me do it for you.”

“Thanks.”

Kate placed a finger on Sara’s chin, making her tilt back some, “Okay, actually, go on your knees.” Even though Sara was several inches shorter than Kate, she couldn’t get a good see well. “Tilt your head up a bit,” ordered Kate as her friend did so. She carefully applied a thin liquid line of eyeliner, Sara trying not to blink too many times. “Wait.” She grabbed the mascara, applying thickly. She nodded, “Looks sexy.”

Sara looked at herself in the long mirror, slipping on her ankle boots. The medieval dress was white with a brown corset. It flowed at the skirt bottom to give freedom and stopped where her ankle boots were. She grabbed her cloak of weapons, wondering, “Should I put some more makeup on?”

Kate shook her head, starting to pack, “No, you are so fucking pale and gorgeous enough to have no more makeup to ruin your face.”

Sara nodded as she started to quickly pack. They finished packing and were out the door in less than ten minutes, meeting the rest of the gang in the lobby. Michael was wearing a white tunic and tan pants, with tall black boots. Lucifer wore his usual black outfit but had a sword strapped at his hips and an eye patch over one eye.

Girls looked at him with desire, whispering how pretty he was as the heroes and villains left the hotel, and put their suitcases in the trunk. The drive was short and when the van stopped, they could see the festival was already bustling with activity. Sara hopped out of the car excitedly, Michael ordering her to leave her cloak in the car. After a few minutes of convincing, Sara finally put a strap over her hips that had a sleuth with one of her favorite swords. She hugged herself nervously, stepping to her father, whispering, “Is this too much boobs?”

Michael raised his eyebrows, “I think you are fine. You need to be confident in your beauty, honey.”

Nathan was wearing a silver armor knight that was matching the middle ages like Elena's costume. Timothy wore a black knight outfit that made him look more like a ninja. A sword was by his hips and he wore black sneakers.

Michael handed out cash, told the teenagers to spend it wisely, and let them go wander around. The teenagers stayed in the group but were glad to leave the adults. They explored food stands, getting some gyros and eating carefully not to spill on their clothing. They looked at jewels and Sara was caught away with a ruby ring with two diamonds on each side, sparkling at her. She saw the price, and moved on, although her eyes kept flickering back on it.

Nathan walked next to Sara, “So, what are you exactly?”

Sara shrugged, making up as she said, “A runaway princess.”

“Oh, maybe I am the knight that ran away with you.” He glanced at Timothy, “And he is trying to capture you to sell you.”

Sara eyed the Nephilim, “That went far.” She glanced around, seeing some eyes look in her direction, but glad most of the humans passed her without looking at her too long.

“Swords! We have real swords!” a person called from a booth, catching some attention.

Sara and Nathan went to the booth, studying the swords and designs on them.

“They are only one hundred dollars with the sleuth of your choice!” the buyer exclaimed, looking around at the interested people.

Sara easily picked up one sword expertly, examining and feeling the light weight of it. “This sword wouldn’t last very long with its cheap hilt, and can easily shatter by its brittle steel. Also, rust much faster from how it’s poorly made.”

The buyer snapped a gaze at her, “You some kind of expert or something?”

Sara smiled warmly, bragging a little, “Oh, I just know my weapons and how they are made well.”

Some people turned their eyes on her, seemly interested in what she meant.
