*She Keeps Me Up - Nickelback
SIGHHHHH. This song is purrfect for Kate and Andrew. Please listen to it! I needed an upbeat song after the last chapter. (And the girl singer sounds a lot like Katerina, and the male singer sounds like Andrew lmao.)
And yes, my cheesy straight, romantic couple. Enjoy ;). I decided to just embrace my cheesy side, because why the fuck not?
When Andrew pried off his sneakers on his sore feet, he called his girlfriend. The night was nearly ready to sink back down and let the sun take place, but even as early as it was, he ached to hear Katerina’s honey-silk voice.
“Andrew?” Kate’s groggy voice answered, “Is something the matter?”
“No...I wanted to hear your pretty voice.”
There was a loud sigh, “Do you realize how early it is? The sun isn’t even damn up.”
Andrew frowned, “Well...it’s been a couple of days and I finally got a chance to sleep, but I wanted to hear your voice before I went off to my nonexistent sleep.” He started stripping off his shirt, exposing the cool air kissing his ripped muscles. He grabbed a gray t-shirt and slipped off his pants.
Kate chuckled and there was a ruffling sound of her moving in the bed, “Hmm, strange. Sara isn’t here. Anyway, tell me, what’s been happening? What have you been doing?”
“I have been on my feet constantly helping the angels bring in injured heroes.” He flopped on the bed, taking off his socks.
“Oh, I forgot you want to be a medic,” said Kate. She loudly yawned, “Heard anything about being promoted?”
Andrew picked up his phone as he started to get comfortable, “No, but the angels keep telling me how impressed they are.”
There were a couple of beats of silence until Kate muttered, “I miss you, Andrew.”
“I miss you too, Kate. How’s your trip going?”
Kate sighed, “Sara freaked out and she blasted her powers at Pitch’s warlocks, and now Lucifer knows she has powers, and Michael isn’t happy.”
“Why did she freak out?”
“I think there was an overwhelming sense of powers; you know she struggles with powers surrounding her because she hardly practices keeping her powers under control.”
“You’re okay, though?”
“Yeah, just worried and I don’t know where she is now.”
“Don’t worry.”
Kate thought she heard a twig of sadness in her brother’s voice, “What’s wrong?”
“Oh, nothing. I just miss you and it’s hard falling asleep. So much anxiety from Pitch and helping Demetrius is exhausting.”
Kate smiled, her ache missing her boyfriend also. She gazed around the room, the lamp she turned on when Andrew called exposed a regular hotel room with just her in it and an empty bed. She didn’t see any lights from the bathroom, just an eerie darkness covering the room that made her loneliness beg to be spared. “Hey, why don’t you use your portable port to come over here? Sara isn’t here, so we could cuddle each other and fall asleep in each other’s arms.”
Andrew sighed, “Demetrius is trying to be cautious not using the portable ports. There’s been a storage issue for some reason and he is trying to figure that out..but, I’ll make an exception. Send me your address.”
Kate texted him the address and waited only a few minutes until he appeared. She sprung to her feet and they pressed their bodies together, kissing each other’s lips hard until they were sore, and rubbing their hands all over each other.
“Kate,” whispered Andrew as they stood there, now just hugging each other.
They sat on the bed, Andrew holding his girlfriend in his arms as they talked their usual conversations. Monsters, outfits, topics about climate change, and the trip of haunting Pitch down. Kate expressed her concerns for her friend, Sara, and how she freaked out and revealed her powers to Lucifer. She talked about how this whole mission was affecting Michael and he was acting strangely sometimes. “I am not sure if I am thinking too much about it, but I feel like he is scared of something.”
Andrew muttered as he brushed Kate’s short brown hair, their bodies pressed together, “He’s under stress right now.”
Kate was happy to feel the warm of Andrew’s body, her eyes gazing at the color of eyes of the soft bark tree
“I know.” She went to explain what Michael said to her in the hallway at Lucifer’s castle and how she was feeling about him. “I wish all the pure pressure on him would cease.”
“He’s the Archangel, he can deal with it,” Andrew said, feeling a bit annoyed his girlfriend kept being in the same loop over and over again, frightened over her father figure. He lifted his head, seeing Kate’s worried eyes, “Save your trouble anxiety for the time when you might need it. Yes, Pitch has the sword, but dozens of people have from what I heard, and not once has Michael let anyone cut him down.”

Kate smiled, a warm feeling bubbling inside of her. Andrew always knew what to say to satisfy her troubled mind, “You are right.”
Andrew leaned in and kissed her collarbone and lowered his head as his eyes gazed at her, “Finally listening to what I have to say?”
Kate felt her skin prickle from feeling the wonderful touch of his skin caressing her, and his lips giving her a shudder of relief and pleasure. She buried her fingers into Andrew's long, hazelnut hair.
As Andrew kissed her girlfriend all over, he smelled her sweet honey scent he missed and loved every inch of her smooth tan body. He wanted more of her as he started to peel off her clothing and Andrew ran her hands down his hardcore chest.
Kate said, “I wish you were with us.”
‘I need to help run the headquarters if something happens,” reminded Andrew.
“I know, but I hate leaving you alone like this. You are staying so strong and doing everything without a doubt or even frustration on your mind.”
“Kate,” hushed Andrew, “I am doing all of this to make you proud.”
Kate looked at him with her loving eyes, “I am always proud of you, and what you are doing now, makes me know you are everything I need. You don’t need to do anything else. I will always love you.”
“I—” started Andrew, but there was a sound of a loud crash as the window was broken through.
Andrew rolled over quickly, grabbing around Kate’s stomach as they landed on the floor with a loud thump. They rose quickly, their eyes peaking out. They saw a window smashed and fragments all over the window edge.
Kate timidly stood up, her fingers flickering alive with fire, her eyes steadily looking across the room for any bombs. Her heart was beating fast as she wondered frantically who would come and haunt them.
Michael and Lucifer made an agreement not to hurt each other’s people until Pitch died.
Kate turned on the rest of the lights, seeing a blue glowing rock next to the foot of the desk table. Andrew was cautiously behind her in just his underwear. Kate leaned her face, her hair swooping down at her neck as she watched the rock glowing blue dim every few seconds until it was a solid black rock.
She poked at the rock quickly, leaping back in case it was going to blue at any minute, but nothing happened. Kate lifted the rock carefully, feeling the lightweight it. As she turned the rock, there was a strip of folded neat paper taped on the rock.
Kate was careful not to rip the paper apart, but only the type as she read: Leave Pitch alone!
The handwriting was a bit messy but easy enough to read it. There was no clear definition who this person was, but Kate assumed it was one of Pitch’s people or some manic that had eternal respect for the high-ranking warlock.
The rock started to feel so cold it burned Kate’s hand. She dropped it, her palm already healing, “Damn it!” She grimaced at whoever targeted, was at her. She could handle any heat, but such coldness burn was much different.
Andrew took Kate’s healing hand, “Are you okay?”
She grumbled as she knelt, letting her magical flames obliterate the rock, a horrible hissing noise as the fire scorched the freezing rock. “I don’t understand why everyone wants Pitch alive! He is a monster!” She huffed her annoyance as she carefully took steps to the window. she looked a few stories down at the street. “Great, now how am I going to fix this window?”
“Get Michael I guess.”
Kate said, “He’s going to get worried.”
“Well, someone just threw a rock at us. Could’ve been a damn bomb.”
“True,” agreed Kate, walking to the door, “Stay here and I’ll fetch Michael.” She walked down the deserted hallway and only had to walk a few rooms down, and she knocked on Michael’s door.
Michael opened the door quickly, “What’s wrong?” His eyes looked at her quite worriedly, seeing a tight expression. He followed her to her room, seeing the hold in the window and shining glass pieces. He went up to the broken window, frowning. He saw a note on the desk and read it, “Not surprised, but this isn’t good.”
“We need to hide where we are going,” said Kate, biting on her nice nails.
Michael replied, “I’ve been trying to keep our location as secretive as possible. I’ll contact Daniel if he’s been telling random heroes where we have been.” The Archangel inspected the window and bit more and finally let all the fragments and shards go back together. He saw Andrew wave at him awkwardly in his underwear, Michael not even blinking an eye, just a nod at him. His eyes glanced over to an empty bed and he paused for a second, then asked, “Where’s Sara?”
Kate shrugged, “When Andrew called me, she wasn’t here.”
Michael frowned, disliking his daughter wasn’t where she was supposed to be. Her phone was missing and he didn’t spot her cloak anywhere. He said, mostly to himself, “Must’ve not been able to sleep.” He checked his phone and there was a text message from his daughter that she had taken a flight.
This was usually unusual for Sara to go off flying when the sun hadn’t even appeared yet, but Michael asked Kate and Andrew if they were okay again, and left.
