Chapter 46: Debacle of the Moth’s Death
A single This servant has lost a seed stunned Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei to death. The Gu Clan’s capable of selling off a servant with their son’s seed?
Qingyu waited for Yu Xiaoxiao to fly into a rage. Judging from how she treated the imperial guards on her wedding day, she wasn’t someone who could control her temper. But Yu Xiaoxiao was still lost and confused. In the language of the medical texts she read, there was only “miscarriage” (流产) liu chan, so what was “lose a seed” (小产) xiao chan? When she noticed the violent expression changes on Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei’s faces, she began to look sympathetically at Qingyu.
“Is it terminal?” Yu Xiaoxiao asked.
“It’s not terminal,” Xiao Wei hastened to explain.
Xiao Zhuang rolled his eyes. So he has moments of idiocy too. The princess can even cure Royal Son-in-Law’s legs, so how could she not know what ‘lose a seed’ means?
“If it’s not terminal, why are you crying like that?” Yu Xiaoxiao asked. “Just what’s wrong with you?”
Qingyu knelt with her head bowed, refusing to say a word. Xiao Wei had no idea what Yu Xiaoxiao was planning, but followed along to add, “Princess, this servant just lost the baby in her womb.”
“So it’s miscarriage, ah,” Yu Xiaoxiao’s gaze sharpened. In her eyes, every child represented humanity’s hope and was a priceless treasure.
Qingyu bawled. “This servant deserves to die.”
“You do deserve death,” Yu Xiaoxiao agreed. “You didn’t take good care of your child?”
Qingyu wept and said, “The third young master didn’t want this baby, so how could this servant dare to give birth?”
“That’s rubbish!” Xiao Wei shouted. “I’ve never heard of you getting pregnant. You’re full of nothing but lies, Qingyu. Are you sick of living?!”
Qingyu said, “If princess doesn’t believe me, you can find a doctor to check my pulse.” Of course, all the doctors, including the imperial physicians at the palace, had long been arranged by Jing Mo. Even if Yu Xiaoxiao took the pulse herself, Qingyu had already taken a secret pill from Zhuri to substantiate her fibs.
Xiao Zhuan glared at Qingyu and said, “Princess, the Royal Son-in-Law isn’t that kind of man.”
Yu Xiaoxiao circled around Qingyu. Gu Xinglang’s woman who bore him a child? Do you think I’m senile? Lady Chuqiu’s first man was clearly Jing Mo. She got pregnant from him, but Jing Mo’s consort found out and caused her to miscarry. Then Jing Mo gave her to Yu Ziyi. How could I ever forget that bloody harem history? Just because she was the protagonist now didn’t mean the plot could bend over backwards!
Qingyu felt like the princess was finally going to blow her top and added fuel to the fire. “This isn’t third young master’s fault. This servant had an unlucky life, so I only ask that Your Royal Highness calm your rage and not blame third young master.”
“You cheap slave, you’re trying to sow discord!” Xiao Wei fumed.
Qingyu burst into wails.
Yu Xiaoxiao simply hauled her upright with one hand until their eyes were meeting. Qingyu’s heart tensed–would this fierce wife end up killing her to vent? She tried to break free, not wanting to die. She still wanted to finish this job and earn Jing Mo’s appreciation so he’d dote on her as the eldest imperial prince!
Still, her struggles were like child’s play to Yu Xiaoxiao. “You think I don’t know the plot?” Yu Xiaoxiao said while dangling her by the collar. “Stupid human!”
Qingyu didn’t understand her words, but cried, “Princess, spare this servant!”
Yu Xiaoxiao threw Qingyu towards the northwest corner of the courtyard, where she landed behind some rockery. Of all the people she could imitate, it had to be Consort Zhao? I hate weepy women who fake their weaknesses!
Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei’s heart trembled at the sight of Yu Xiaoxiao tossing Qingyu away. Their princess was so savage that they doubted whether Qingyu survived the fall.

Yu Xiaoxiao said, “Gu Xinglang isn’t the kind of man to kill little children.”
“Princess is right,” Xiao Wei chimed in hastily, “The Royal Son-in-Law would never abandon his own flesh and blood.”
“I was right to hit her.”
“Yes,” Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei chorused, “Princess is wise and brilliant.”
Yu Xiaoxiao had heard too many officials call that fatuous ruler the same thing and only felt it was an insult. She looked gravely and the two shadow guards and said, “Give me kudos.”
Neither guard knew what kudos were, but since the princess wanted it, they didn’t hesitate. “We servants give the princess kudos!”
“Go back, we’ll keep eating,” Yu Xiaoxiao said, satisfied. She turned to head down the hall, but it was then that an unusually large moth came fluttering down, attracted by the candlelight. As it drifted by Yu Xiaoxiao’s face, she raised her hand and slapped it against a nearby pillar.
“Princess,” Xiao Wei stared at the crumbled remains of the insect. “It’s only a moth.”
What he meant was, there’s no need to use so much strength to kill such a little thing. Yu Xiaoxiao studied the moth’s corpse carefully before admitting, “I forgot this world doesn’t have zombie bugs.”
This wasn’t the first time she’d mentioned “zombies,” so Xiao Wei finally opened his mouth on this clear moon night to ask, “Princess, what’s a zombie bug?”
“Oh, it’s–”

CrrRRRACK–!
The pillar with the moth corpse let out an alarming noise. Yu Xiaoxiao and the duo turned to see multiple cracks appear on the column that was so wide even two grown men couldn’t circle it with their arms.
Xiao Zhuang’s jaw dropped. “No way? Is this pillar going to fall over?”
In response, the splitting noises quickly shifted into snapping ones. The cracks traveled up the pillar and towards the ceiling, spreading north and south across its surface. With a rumble, countless spiderweb cracks formed on the roof above them. Wood dust fell on Yu Xiaoxiao’s face, which she accidentally inhaled. After sneezing soundly, she sniffled and asked, “What’s going on?”
Xiao Zhuang and Xiao Wei felt unwell all over. All the princess did was kill a moth, so how could she have broken a pillar? Looks like the entire building’s gonna go!
“P-princess,” Xiao Zhuang shielded Yu Xiaoxiao’s body. “Let’s hurry and leave, the place is about to collapse.” He had hardly finished when more wood dust fell on them like rain. Yu Xiaoxiao grew silent when she realized she’d used too much strength in a moment of carelessness again.
“Princess, let’s run!” Xiao Wei called out.
“Will Jing Mo make me pay for damages?” Yu Xiaoxiao asked.
“If he does, just pay him,” Xiao Wei said. “Princess, you don’t lack for money.”
Money was used to buy food, so if she had to pay for damages, then she’d be able to buy less. Yu Xiaoxiao didn’t want something so terrible, so she told the guards, “I’ll go find another pillar to hold up the eaves. You guys wait for me.”
Xiao Wei exclaimed, “Princess, where are you going? You–”
But Yu Xiaoxiao’s figure only flickered as she vanished into the night.
