∆ Part 1

With the addition of the mighty maid, finishing off the rest of the Fallen Angels would be easy, but we even had the help from one of the big shots among those guys, making it even easier. After getting rid of the unfriendly forces around us, said fallen angel landed nearby and hastily made his way to certain someone laying on the ground.

"Shuri! Shuri! Are you ok? Talk to me!!!". The fallen angel, Baraquiel, anxiously spoke.

Ignoring the hateful look that Suou was giving him, he kneeled to check the state Shuri-san was in.

Extending a hand to stop him from touching her, I covered Shuri-san since I kind of exposed her skin to check her injuries before.

"The wound is closed, but she is still in a weakened state. Please, don't be rough with your actions". I warned.

He seemed to finally notice me when I stopped him.

"...You are?". Baraquiel inquired.

His tone was neutral and I could not tell whether he was wary against me or he was normally like that.

Just then, I happened to catch the sight of a mischievous smile on Shuri-san's face.

"...Dear, He is your son-in-law!". Shuri replied before I could say a word.

Oi!.

Don't joke about that kind of thing!.

Look, he is glaring at me like he is going to kill me. Scary. I happened to catch with my eyes when he roasted one of the fallen angels with his lighting attack so I can only shudder in fright.

"Shuri-san, please stop jesting. Those kinds of jokes are not funny. My life could be in peril because of it". I warned.

Doing one last cursory check-up on Shuri, I patted Rias-chan's head as she anxiously stares at my wounds.

"This is hardly a place to speak. Grayfia-san, my apologies but after Shuri-san is taken to her room I would like to ask you to help her to bathe and change clothes. Her wounds are taken care of, but it would be unhealthy to let her as she is now. After checking the girls' state, we will talk. Is that ok with you?". I asked.

The maid just furrowed her eyebrows and put one hand on my shoulder, keeping me in place. On her other hand, a magic circle appeared in the air, and a new vial of Phoenix tears came out.

"Rias-ojou-sama. There is one more here, I will hold him in place so use this chance to treat him". Grayfia-san seriously said.

The girl in question nodded and got to work as soon as she grabbed the vial.

Wait, wait wait.

"There are other injured people, use it on them. Hey, where are you touching? I was not hurt there. Hey, hey, not there either. Grayfia-san, release me, I am being molested!". I complained.

Although... there was no mercy coming from them. Rias-chan did a very careful job and did not miss anything. Applying a few drops of the vial on any place I was hurt, then making me drink the vial after Grayfia-san glared at me when I tried to resist.

"Onee-sama, I finished!". Rias-chan cheerfully said.

Ecchi.

Nodding at that, Grayfia-san let me go.

I would've preferred that you had done it, Grayfia-san.

Taking a deep breath, I used the technique that is most commonly used by adults in my old world.

I acted as nothing happened and kept the memory tightly sealed inside my head.

"...Baraquiel, Could you carry Shuri-san to her room? And you, stop glaring at them like that. You are also hurt, right? Let's go inside to take a look at you... don't forget to contact your people and making them stop attacking my people. I do not wish to fight, but if you force my hand... Well, I won't be killing them, but I will leave pretty beat up, enough for them to take a long time to recover". I spoke.

Not waiting for an answer, I walked in the direction of the house. Kuroka-chan is the priority, she was sick worried about me so I need to go and reassure her. There are Shizuku-san and Suzaku-san as well. I must not forget to check on Akeno-chan and Shirone-chan either.

*Sigh*

...

...

As soon as I put a foot inside the house, certain someone almost pounded on me.

"Nora-nya! Are you ok-nya? Your injuries...! We need to treat you-nya! Shizuku, we need to patch him-nya". Kuroka-chan exclaimed in a panicked state.

I just spread my arms and caught her in a hug. Holding her even when she squirmed to get away, I light patted her back.

"I am fine. Help arrived, and they brought some good medicine. The injuries are no more, so relax. The fight is over". I tried to reassure her using a gentle tone.

Her tense body loosened little by little and she leaned on me, letting me support her weight. Feeling her warmth, perhaps the one who got soothed was me. My nerves relaxed, and I could feel my exhausted body asking for rest, but I could not do that just yet so... I let Kuroka-chan go. She had a dissatisfied face so I gave her a small kiss on her forehead before taking my distance again.

Her cuteness can be dangerous.

She doesn't have any injury on her so I sighed in relief. On the other hand... Shizuku-san is quite beat up.

"Contact the other youkais, tell them to not engage anymore against the Himejimas unless provoked. Finish any fallen angel, and then come back here. And you... follow me. I need to fix those". I said as I pointed at the numerous easy-to-spot injuries.

"Shiki-sama, you are after my body as well!? Wasn't it enough take a peek at Shuri-sama when you were treating her or to grope that fallen angel woman? You are way too honest about your desires!". Shizuku-san muttered in mock-worry.

Covering her chest with her arms, her actions left me slightly speechless.

This damned kitsune.

"If you are so full of energy then you can join the other guys in finishing off any fallen angel when I am done treating you. Come on, move it". I spoke.

Shrugging my shoulders, I was slightly thankful that her mood was still good enough.

"That is so cruel! Shiki-sama, you demon!". Shizuku-san complained while faking tears.

Shaking my head, I turned to Kuroka-chan who had remained quiet so far. But she had disappeared before I knew it.

"Where is she?". I wondered aloud.

"Allow me to look for her. You can take care of Suzaku-sama in the meantime, I was not hurt that bad so I can wait". Shizuku-san offered when I was about to leave the house". "No, no, before you say anything. I will tell you this. It would be better if I go after her. It might be a little more complicated than what you think but she just needs some time".

Her light-hearted atmosphere was gone, and Shizuku-san stared and me gently but seriously.

Despite the worry I felt at her words about Kuroka-chan, I nodded.

"...She is very important to me". I exclaimed.

"I know. That is why you should let me handle this since it will be the best outcome. I won't allow her to be harmed. You have my words". Shizuku-san said.

Patting me on my shoulder, she pointed at a particular room before leaving. I just walked in that direction with heavy steps.

Was Kuroka-chan troubled by something? I thought that she was only worried about me getting hurt, but I doubt that Shizuku-san would stop me if that was the reason. Did I let the kitty down somehow?.

Many thoughts coursed my head, but I would not be able to do something about them. Instead of thinking about it... I began pondering about the talk to be had later.

Now that all the parties are here, there is a need to make this as peaceful and successful as possible. For Shuri-san and Akeno-chan's sake... and to avoid any grudge to be directed at the youkais for interfering.

~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~

Having taken her distance from the house, Kuroka confirmed that she was alone by looking around her, before sitting using a tree as support.

Staying that way for some time, she had a forlorn expression.

"Are you comfortable here?". Said a voice nearby.

Kuroka got alerted and tried to stand up but a hand pushed her back into her previous position.

"It's me, you know, me". Said the voice again, coming in front of her.

Suddenly, the space in front of Kuroka seemed to distort and a figure appeared. In a slight beat-up outfit, with blond hair, a pair of fox ears and a fluffy tail. It was Shizuku who had pushed her back.

"Nora-nya warned that people who say those lines are usually scammers-nya". Kuroka spoke back in a pout.

She did not like that the kitsune surprised her like that, Kuroka was not in the mood.

Despite carrying a gentle expression, Shizuku's eyebrow twitched a little. However, she did not get angry.

"Shiki-sama instructed you very well. Do be careful of people sending you messages like that, or receiving calls of that kind. Wait, I did not come here for that". Shizuku retorted. "*Sigh* You left him rather worried, you know".

Sitting beside her, Shizuku started to chat with Kuroka.

Looking down, Kuroka remained silent for a moment.

"Nora-nya was hurt. I couldn't protect him-nya. But he didn't blame or said anything about it-nya. He just acted as gentle and kind as before-nya". Kuroka muttered.

Listening quietly, Shizuku awaited for Kuroka to finish speaking.

"As his Onee-chan... I failed him-nya". Kuroka mumbled. "I am weak-nya. If I had been stronger... I would've defeated that woman-nya. She wouldn't have hurt him-nya. And, he would've patted my head saying I did a good job-nya".

Shizuku had a troubled smiled on her face but she thought that it was rather normal that Kuroka had that line of thoughts considering how these two usually act around each other.

"You see... I think you did very well. Thanks to you, the other two were able to hold long enough. As for the Shiki-sama getting hurt, I am also angry at myself for letting that happen, but it couldn't be avoided. During a fight where your life is on the line, it will most likely happen". Shizuku muttered in a gentle tone. "If you consider yourself to be weak, then you should get stronger. The more your strength grows, the fewer enemies you will have trouble with. However, that path isn't easy. It requires a lot of hard work".

Kuroka stared at Shizuku quietly, she seemed to be paying attention to each word that was spoken.

Abruptly, Shizuku's expression hardened and she hastily stood up. However, a sudden pain coming an injury on her leg made her sit back, delaying her actions. Biting her lips, she began making hand signs as a few figures appeared near them.

A pair of fallen angels came from the trees around them. On a closer look, they seemed to be in their last moments, but carrying weapons that irradiated Holy power, they were still healthy enough to cause trouble. Looking around, they looked like they were running from someone.

Kuroka beside her had stood up, and on her hand, a Kasha was burning. Shizuku inwardly praised her reaction but kept making hand signs.

Even if the girl could create one, Shizuku was doubtful if that would be enough to take care of both fallen.

"I will create a distraction, attack one of them and fall back. Go and look for help". Shizuku said.

The cat-eared girl, however, shook her head and stood her ground.

Shizuku thought that the girl should choose a better time to be stubborn.

Just when the fallen angels noticed them and raised their weapons at two. Flaming wheels of different colors rained on them.

"Fumu, it seems they were able to run rather far even with all the damage they received. Were they looking for someone or something in particular?". A female voice muttered in a curious tone.

Coming from the same place where the fallen had arrived, a cat appeared. Following it were several figures covered in a cloak with hoods.

"Oya? I did not expect to meet my kin when I was checking why these guys were causing a ruckus. Hmmm? You look somewhat familiar". The cat muttered.

The speaker has the appearance of a young cat, her fur is colored white with black spots all over her. However, there is something that makes her different from the rest, she has a total number of seven tails.

Blinking curiously but warily, Shizuku and Kuroka had their guard up against this new group.

"Where was it? Ah! You there, the Nekomata. Is your mother perhaps called Fujimai? Where is that lad? It's been years since I saw her". The cat said in a merry tone.

Kuroka furrowed her eyebrows at the mention of that name.

"Who are you... nya? Why do you know that name-nya?". Replied Kuroka in an unfriendly tone.

Her mother was gone, and now a total stranger had begun talking about her in a happy tone, it did not make her happy.

Shizuku could read somewhat the emotions of the girl so she finished preparing her spell and kept it in stand-by, ready to use of things went south. She did promise him to keep her safe, so she won't break the promise.

"Oh! How rude of me to not introduce myself first. I am the one called Magari. Pleased to make your acquaintance!". The cat replied. "Then, Are you related to that lad? Where is she?".

Her introduction had been honest and no ill intentions could feel so Kuroka lowered her wariness enough to answer her question.

"Kaa-sama died-nya". Kuroka replied in a somber tone of voice.

"I see, so that lad died. That is a shame, she was a gentle one". The cat, Magari, muttered in a regretful tone. "You are her daughter... You do resemble her somewhat. Did she teach you all there is to know about our kin? I could take you under my wing if you wish to".

Shizuku limited herself to stay as a bystander, this was an offer that in normal situations Kuroka would reject, however, this time something weighed on her mind.

"Can I become stronger-nya?". Asked Kuroka, a determined expression adorned her face.

Looking directly into the girl's eyes, Magari tried to read something.

"I can teach you. The rest is up to you". Magari replied.

Shizuku had a bad feeling about this. It seemed that she was going to get killed by Nora after all.

∆ Part 2

Even at this age, Suzaku-san is quite, huh, endowed. One thing I must say in my defense. I was just applying first aid, and I did not remove her clothes, only slightly moving them to get a clearer look at the injury as I healed her.

Nevertheless, I couldn't have predicted that she would wake up in the middle of the treatment and while I held her haori... she stood up surprised with a cute yelp.

*Kya*

"What? Eh? Why?". Suzaku-san muttered confusedly as she stared at me and her surroundings.

Putting aside the little accident, more surprises awaited me. One thing got engraved on me. Suzaku-san was a bold girl.

With wide eyes in the realization of her situation, I expected a sonic attack.

Fortunately, she did not scream even after I happened to see various things even when she used her hands to cover herself. No, doing that made some parts stand out more than the rest, yet I could not say anything since her blushing appearance would've matched Rias-chan's hair if I embarrassed her more.

"...Could you get me something to wear? I have some questions". Suzaku-san asked me for a change of clothes after an uncomfortable silence, something I had to figure out where to find since I was not sure where to look. Thankfully, from the window of the room, Shuri-san's laundry saved my day.

Inwardly apologizing to Shuri-san for taking her belongings, I provided Suzaku-san with a clean Shrine Maiden outfit. A regular one, instead of her risky one.

"*Sigh* I sorted everything in mind while I changed, but I will ask just in case. You were not trying to take a peek on me while I slept, but you were instead healing me?". Suzaku-san asked with a blush still on her face.

"...sorry. I tried to finish while you slept, but you woke up in the middle of my work. The fault is mine". I honestly apologized.

While this was no one's fault, I don't want our relationship to sour because of some misunderstanding.

Suzaku-san had a reproaching look, but she did not complain.

"...It was not your fault. Let's just forget it. So, how is it?". Suzaku-san asked.

"I think you are too young to wear that kind of thing, but I can't deny it looked good on y-ugh". I began talking but a pair of hands covered my mouth at once.

"The injury, I was talking about the injury. Nora, you perv. I received some heavy damage on my side and I don't feel any discomfort now. Did you take care of it completely?". Suzaku-san inquired, sheepishly.

Ok, I might've wanted to tease her. I will accept all the blame. But, Miss... I can't reply if you cover my mouth.

"Urgh, ammmmh, huh". I complained.

My mouth could not form proper words as she was covering it.

The red-eyed maiden seemed to want to tease me too as she did not remove her hands, and a slight smile adorned her face.

Is that how you are going to play?.

*Pero*

"*Kyaa* You...". Suzaku-san yelped cutely and had a reproaching look.

I had licked her hands and she immediately put them away.

"You shouldn't be playing around. It is a time when we need to be serious. I took care of the worse ones already. Some minor ones are still left". I acted like I did nothing wrong as I explained.

"...Meanie". Complained Suzaku-san.

You shouldn't have tried to tease me.

Shaking my head, I patted the area in front of me. The red-eyed Shrine Maiden seemed to understand my message and sat down with her back turned to me. She had lowered her haori for me to see clearly. And although my ability would make that meaningless... I can't just go and explain it to her.

"...Is my aunt and cousin doing ok?". Inquired Suzaku-san.

Restarting my treatment, I focused on my task first.

It wasn't like I couldn't speak. But I did not wish to inform her about Shuri-san getting hurt while I can't look her in the eyes.

Taking my silence as a bad omen, I could faintly feel that she was getting restless. Her shoulders were tensing and she seemed to be ready to run off at any minute.

*Sigh*

"We were able to take care of the fallen angels, the only causalities were on the enemy side". I said to reassure her a little. "That's why... calm down. Let me finish the treatment and I will explain everything to you".

Speaking in a soft tone of voice, I had unknowingly started to pat her head so I took my hand off when I noticed it.

"Sorry, I did it by reflex". I explained.

Some people dislike being patted since they think that you are treating them like children.

"No, I don't mind...". Said Shizuku-san shyly.

Things are going strangely. Am I that good at patting?.

Continuing my job, I did not take long as I expected since she did not have any noticeable injury on her back.

"Turn around. Ah, you don't have to take that off... too late, huh. What was the meaning of getting you the clothing if you were going to flash that risky underwear anyway?". I teased her a bit.

I wonder why do I feel inclined to tease her this much. It has to be because of her reactions... and my liking for older girls, no doubt.

Suppressing those intentions, I kept the thoughts of further teasing her by recalling Yasaka-san. Yes, save the teasing for the kitsune.

Without warning, she extended her hands to pinch my cheeks. Her actions might've been because her shame surpassed the limit she could handle passively, but I wonder why she isn't covering herself first. Is she so flustered that she isn't paying attention to it?.

...

...

Patching up Suzaku-san took longer than I expected. Step by step, I walked to Akeno-chan's room where I left the girls, and an embarrassed Suzaku-san followed after me meekly.

Briefly recalling what happened a moment ago, I considered that perhaps my luck was not as bad as I thought.

Arriving at the location, I found a talisman plastered on the door.

What was this thing doing here?.

"Uh... That is an isolation talisman. It is to keep any sound coming from the inside being heard outside, although this one was modified a bit judging by the inscriptions. It should be doing the opposite". Suzaku-san timely explained. "I did not do it if that is what you were going to ask. This was my aunt Shuri's work".

Before I even asked she added more to her explanation. How easy is to read me?.

"Then, that explains why the girls never left. No, Why was Kuroka-chan outside then?". I wondered aloud.

"...It is primarily made to block sounds, but you can still feel the presence of other people outside if you focus on it. I can't be certain, but maybe she felt the ruckus outside and went out to take a look". Suzaku-san's said in an uncertain tone.

I can always ask the kitty later.

Shrugging my shoulder I opened the door. After entering Akeno-chan's room, I saw something odd so I closed the door again.

Rubbing my eyes, I wondered if I was seeing things.

One look at Suzaku-san's and she was doing the same thing I just did.

So it wasn't just me.

Opening the door again, what I originally saw did not change.

Akeno-chan was pinned on the floor with her hands tied desperately trying to free herself, and Shirone-chan who was sitting on top of her with a bored expression. Yep, the same thing I saw a moment ago.

"Shirone-chan... What in the world are you doing?". I asked a question that I couldn't fathom the answer.

Putting a hand to stop Suzaku-san who wanted to jump in to help the purple-eyed girl, I saw how Shirone-chan's ears twitched. The white-haired Neko looked our way before standing up and walking my way with a slight smile. She lowered her in my direction and maintained that position.

"...Praise me. I want a head-pat too". Shirone-chan muttered, ignoring my question.

Yeah, I don't think I follow.

However, I did as she asked. It is not like I can refuse, right?. No, why would I even refuse? She hardly asks for it.

...

...

Untied, Akeno-chan immediately moved behind Suzaku-san and glared warily at Shirone-chan who was playfully rubbing her head on my hand whenever I stopped patting her.

"So... What the heck happened?". I bluntly asked.

The last thing I recall was leaving Kuroka-chan and Shirone-chan with Akeno-chan.

"She wanted to leave so I stopped her, that's why... I did a good job. Onee-sama told me that you would praise me if I kept here at all cost before she left... Onee-sama also said you would pat my head and give me a lot of sweets". Shirone-chan spoke in a somewhat eager tone of voice.

Kuroka-chan... you caused this. No, I guess this is my fault for leaving them alone like that. She was probably trying to do what I wanted, and that was to keep her safe.

"Sorry, I certainly wanted them to keep you safe but you ended up going through a difficult time because of it". I said while giving Akeno-chan an apologetic look. "Could you forgive her? She isn't a bad girl. Look, she is so smol and cute. Can you even be mad at her?".

Trying to lessen Akeno-chan's wariness, I showed her Shirone-chan in her cutest moments. It was not every day that she would act like this.

"...I was surprised when the first kitty turned into a girl... but she quickly left after telling this one some words. I was confused... But I kept playing with the kitty since she would pull my clothes if I tried to leave". Akeno-chan explained. "Then, when I got anxious since no one else came, I tried to leave but she stopped me. Nora-kun, it was not your fault but hers. So I want her to apologize and not you. Okaa-sama always says that you need to apologize when you do something bad".

Slight angry, Akeno-chan said that as she pointed at Shirone-chan. The smol kitty had stopped acting spoiled and stared at me like asking for instructions.

"For now, I think she is right. So, you should honestly apologize. You might've gone a bit too far this time". I spoke. "But... I think you did a good job so down be sad. I will pamper you a lot more when we get home".

Adding the last part as I saw her lower her head discouraged, my wish was that she didn't blame herself for this. She is still small, and making mistakes is normal. When we arrive home, I will talk to her about this so she doesn't repeat the same mistakes later.

The kitty nodded and stood in front of Akeno-chan who took a step backward despite her earlier bravado.

"...I am sorry". Shirone-chan meekly apologized.

Observing her with a serious expression, Akeno-chan then smiled.

"Uhn! You are forgiven, just don't it again, ok?". Akeno-chan nodded and with crossed arms, and she muttered that.

...

...

I could not exactly hide what happened from the purple-eyed girl so after I gave her a basic summary, she left the room in a jiffy. She was probably looking for her mother so I did not stop her. Baraquiel would probably be there too so I will leave the dad to deal with her in case that Shuri-san is asleep.

My next stop was decided so I went there.

I can't lie, I expected that Suzaku-san was going to see Shuri-san, but she instead continued to follow me as I was on my way to the discussion. Shirone-chan followed me too. I couldn't just leave her alone in the room so I didn't mind her presence.

Arriving at the place, I found Grayfia-san who was standing behind Rias-chan, the girl in question was sitting in the living room along with a grim-faced Suou.

Everyone turned to look at us as soon as we arrived so there was no need to announce our presence.

"Shall we get this done?". I spoke in a nonchalant tone.

∆ Part 3

Ignoring the subtle tension in the room, Nora walked and took a seat, followed by Shirone who sat to his on his lap, and Suzaku who sat on his left side.

In the leaving room, there was a table big enough for Nora, Suzaku, Rias and Soup to sit so they were all now in one place.

Suou narrowed his eyes at Suzaku following Nora but he did not say anything.

"Let's get straight to the point. Could you stop your harassment? Neither Shuri-san nor Akeno-chan deserves it. Can the Himejima Clan leave them alone?". Nora spoke in a sharp tone of voice.

Despite his nonchalant voice when he arrived, his tone became serious as soon as it was to talk about the topic.

"Hmph, Who do you think you are to get involved in the problems of our clan? You have no saying in this so stay away. We might've worked together but that was until those crows were taken care of. Although... I should've dealt with you back then. Who would've had thought you would call the 'lighting' along with devils". Suou snorted in annoyance.

"Should you be saying that? Don't you feel like you own Shuri-san? For example... your life? She took a blow for you". Nora answered back while ignoring most of his words.

Suou groaned when that was mentioned.

"Your reason is beyond ridiculous as well. The Shinto Gods are not going to care about a little girl like Akeno-chan. She won't cause the downfall of your clan. You should be aware of that. Why do you continue to cling to that decision? No one will be happy this way". Nora asked.

Rias and Grayfia silently waited for Nora to finish talking, they had come here after he called them so they were going to follow his instructions. Suzaku was in favor of saving her aunt and cousin but she would complicate things if she spoke now so she did not say a word either. Shirone was... bored, she did not seem interested in the conversation so she wasn't paying attention to what was said, instead, she grabbed Nora's hands and started to playfully bit them.

"Those are the rules. There is nothing to be done about it. As the clan head, my job is to accomplish the wishes of my people. They dislike the idea of sharing their blood with a half-breed like Akeno". Suou muttered in a neutral tone.

Biting his lips, Nora thought that this man was too stubborn.

"That is simply discrimination. Wouldn't the Shinto Gods punish that stupid way of thinking instead of the nonsensical reason of having a half-breed among them? Aren't they simply scared about how their reputation will be seen by outsiders?". Nora questioned.

This time, no answer came back. Suou remained with his lips tightly sealed.

*Sigh*

"Why can't we just get along? We all want to live a peaceful life". Nora muttered in a weak tone.

"Our different origins can be an obstacle that some can't accept until it is too late". A new voice spoke in a strong tone of voice.

A middle-aged, gruff-looking man with black hair, matching beard and a muscular body had entered the living when no one was paying attention.

"You! What are you doing here!?". Suou shouted hatefully.

"This is my house...". The man, Baraquiel, replied in a dull tone.

...

...

Despite the initial hostility from Suou, the discussion continued with Baraquiel in the room.

"I do have a proposal... Although, you will hear more about it from the two over there". Nora said with a shrug of shoulders.

A little tired from trying to convince the Clan Head of the Himejimas, he passed the turn to speak to Rias and Grayfia.

Bowing in acknowledgment, Grayfia went to Suou's side and pulled a document out of a magic circle that worked as storage, presenting it to the older man.

Raising an eyebrow at that, he took the document and began reading it with a neutral expression after Grayfia silently pressured him to do so.

"Let us start with introductions. My name is Rias Gremory, heiress of Gremory household. Our standing in the Underworld is that of a Duke household. As stated by that document, we are here to present you with a proposal that will be backed by our name and reputation". Rias explained in a serious tone. "By no means this should be considered a threat. That said, we might be looking for a peaceful solution, however, we plan to accomplish our goal this time at all costs".

Speaking every word slowly, Rias was trying to convey her speech in manner that nothing would be missed by the other party.

"The terms here are rather... 'generous'. Nevertheless, I still don't see any reason to follow through it. The reputation of the Himejimas would be tainted if we gave in by some bribe". Suou replied in a stern tone.

Without changing her expression, Rias nodded and signaled Grayfia who pulled another document and replaced the one Suou was reading before.

"We considered that such a thing would occur so we came prepared. Take a look at the document now. While it is not as 'generous', I believe it will be more persuasive". Rias spoke.

Repeating his earlier actions, Suou began reading. Although he could not keep a straight face this time.

"As expected, you are devils. So this is what you referred to with 'at all costs'. You certainly came well prepared. You listed here a great number of ways that force our hand in a detailed manner". Suou muttered. "This couldn't have been prepared in one day... How long have you been getting ready to do this? No, why are you using so many resources for saving that girl in the first place?".

"Is that a question related to the negotiation? Are you asking as the Clan Head of Himejima Clan or as an individual?". Rias asked.

Closing his eyes for a moment, Suou pondered his answer for a moment.

"While I can't deny that as the Clan Head, I wish to know about any possible hostile force working against my Clan... I can say that the last question only comes from me as an individual". Suou replied.

Relaxing her expression, Rias shared a glance with Grayfia who nodded at her. Taking that as a signal of approval, the crimson-haired girl looked at Nora.

"My dear friend asked for help so I had to do whatever I could since he needed a hand. However, I can't deny that I sympathized with that girl after learning about her situation. I couldn't help but feel that I had to lend her my support. It is a strange feeling, but those are my reasons". Rias said in a gentle tone.

Her expression softened more and she chuckled as she saw Nora shyly scratching his cheek.

"I have nothing else to say then". Suou spoke.

Remaining silent, the older man stayed with closed eyes for a long time.

"I have somethings that I wish to add to that proposal of yours. Neither Shuri or Akeno will be considered part of the clan again. They won't be welcomed there. It includes both and not only Akeno.". Suou exclaimed. "I can't guarantee that every member will follow my words, although many of them will feel obligated to do as I say when I show them this document here. However, don't assume you won't receive their ill will. There is always the possibility that they could raise their hands at those two when I am not looking".

Speaking like it was not his business, Suou continued without stopping.

"As long as you follow what you mentioned here, you can rest assured that I will follow my end of the proposal. So, please don't go cutting our income by using your own business. The members of the branch families will be the ones to suffer first, I do not wish to see that". Suou said.

"While it is not my place to speak since the Gremory Heiress is the one doing the negotiations, I have one question that I have to ask at all cost. Will my Shuri and Akeno be able to call themselves 'Himejimas'?". Baraquiel quipped, interrupting the discussion.

Glaring at the cadre, Suou wanted to ignore his question and snap at him. Nevertheless, Nora stopped him.

"*Cough* Why don't you answer him? It doesn't matter if you dislike the man. He is asking as the husband and father of them. In a sense, he is their representative. So you should consider that question something that Shuri-san, even Akeno-chan would want know". Nora spoke.

Begrudgingly, Suou swallowed his curses.

"...They are free to do so. However, they won't be related to the Clan". Suou replied curtly.

Sighing in relief, Baraquiel nodded in Nora's direction. The boy in question shrugged his shoulders and continued to play with the little girl on his lap. But he kept looking from time to time how the discussion went. Suzaku also seemed relieved and sent an appreciative look at Nora but he was not paying attention. Sulking at that, she tried to pinch his cheek but Shirone bit her hand before she could.

...

...

"...I expected this after you had those documents ready, but you also prepared a contract. I guess I should say, as expected of devils". Suou muttered as he signed several documents.

"We need something more than your words to make sure you don't change your words later. There are plenty of witnesses and I recorded this conversation. Although you probably were aware of that". Rias said.

The older man snorted in response but did not open his mouth.

Watching his movements carefully, Grayfia made sure that everything was in order.

Baraquiel had left the room as soon as the contract was out, leaving Nora, Shirone and Suzaku as the only parties that were not directly related to the discussion.

Lowering the white-haired girl, the boy tried to stand up but failed as the little girl had climbed again and sat on his lap.

"Ok, ok. We can play all you want later, but for now. I need to do some things". Nora muttered in a helpless tone of voice.

The little girl stared at him with upturned eyes, but Nora avoided looking directly at her.

"You have gotten used to getting things with that technique. That said, I can't just be defeated every time. I got some chocolate here, take these bars, share them with Rias-chan and Akeno-chan. Can you be a good girl and do that?". Nora tried to coax Shirone.

Lowering her again, the girl stared at the chocolate bars that Nora pulled out of his pouch. Nodding absentmindedly, the little girl immediately unwrapped one and began eating it.

"Will you even share it..? *Sigh* Anyways, I guess I can continue with my job. Suzaku-san, Can you keep an eye on her?". Nora spoke.

"Maybe if you give one too, hehe". Suzaku replied a little playfully.

The boy didn't mind and he just gave her one.

"I have received my payment. This Suzaku will dutifully look after her". Suzaku playfully declared.

*Sigh*

Sighing at that, Nora pinched softly her side and got a small yelp out her. Walking around the room, he stood up behind Suou.

The older man glared at him warily.

"...What is it? Wasn't it enough that I was forced to do this? Are you planning on making me sign something else? I have no intent-AAAAAARGH! WHAT THE HECK ARE Y-OOOH!". Suou shouted.

His pained voice made everyone look at him.

"Cut the Cr*p. Aren't you a man? I am healing those wounds of yours so stop yelling". Nora said.

Having been on the patient's side, Suzaku wondered why was her grand-uncle screaming. Nora did not cause her any pain.

"Healing!? Stop playing around! It isn't supposed to hurt, you lit-Argh". Suou complained.

"Your bone was out of place so I had to move it back in place. I am not trying to reduce your pain with my Ki either so your wounds will be aching". Nora rolled his eyes and continued the treatment.

You are reading story Highschool DxD: A new opportunity at novel35.com

Keeping Suou's shoulder in place with one hand, he used his other hand to press on his back. Everyone in the room could hear some ominous sounds, but out of the trust at the nekomata, no one said a word to stop him.

"Why aren't you reducing the pain you b-Urgh. Are you trying to kill me?". Suou complained once again.

Stopping for a moment, everyone could see how Nora's face had a wide smile.

"Hehe. You seem to have forgotten... but you tried to kill me. You also planned to kill Akeno-chan. So, tell me. Why should I have mercy?". Nora's smile did not reach his eyes.

Coldly sweating, Suou turned to Grayfia expecting her to intervined, but the maid did not look at him in eyes. Rias and Suzaku were the same. The last person(cat) in the room was even ignoring everything as she ate the chocolate bar so Suou was on his own.

"Don't worry, I will leave you as good as new. I can see some old wounds that never healed properly so I will heal those as well as an extra service. No need to thank me. It is my job to heal others". Nora muttered happily.

Inwardly cursing, Suou tried to get away but Nora kept him in place and he couldn't fight back.

Suou's screams of pain were heard for a while.

~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~°~

Leaving the house after treating Suou, I concluded that Rias-chan and Grayfia-san would take care of the rest. The old man would seriously try to kill me if I stayed.

As expected, he was not going to hear anything I said. So it was a good idea to call them. I was kind of surprised that it was Rias-chan who did the talking though.

"Excuse me. Can I have a word with you?". A voice pulled me out of my musings.

Giving him a side glance, I could see Baraquiel standing quietly.

"...What is it? If you are planning to say something about Akeno-chan and me marrying, then please stop. That was Shuri-san's joke". I quipped.

Seriously, don't go throwing lightings at me for taking your little girl.

"I already asked about it. She told me to leave it all to her and not say a word more". Baraquiel said.

Oi, there wasn't a part where she told you I was not going to be Akeno-chan's husband. What the heck is that woman thinking?. Ah, whatever.

"...I want to thank you for what you did. The Maou's Queen told me about how you were the one who asked them to act. It is thanks to you that they are safe. You have my gratitude". Baraquiel bowed as he expressed his gratitude.

I stayed quiet, my mood was not exactly good, and I tried to not say anything related to it.

"If there is anything I can do, just tell me. I will do everything in my power to aid you". Baraquiel honestly said.

Part of me was thankful for his words... but another part just felt irritation.

"I am not sure how this works, but it was made by Azazel so I guarantee that it will be of use to you. Use it to contact me". Baraquiel spoke as he handed me a strange-looking gadget. It was a small metal box with several buttons.

Just cut it out.

"I don't need it". I curtly said as I gave him the gadget back.

Bewildered at my tone, he took it back unconsciously.

"Just leave. Be happy that your family is safe, and don't bother me. I don't need your help". I said before walking away.

This irritation is not something I can just ignore, after all, the reason why I feel this way is rather simple.

"Wait! I don't understand. Why are you angry? I thought you were-". "Can't you tell that I don't want to speak? It isn't my place to admonish you so I am doing my best to stay quiet". I interrupted Baraquiel.

How narrow-minded of me to cling to this.

With hurried steps, I moved away from the house. Maybe a little walk could help me to cool my head.

...

...

"So, why are you following me?". I asked in mild irritation.

The idea when I walked away was to be alone.

"It is dangerous to be alone until the rest of fallen angels are confirmed to be killed. I still can't trust that the exorcist will follow their end of the deal until the negotiations are done so I want to make sure that you are safe. It was a request from my wife so I can't turn it down". Baraquiel explained.

I stopped my steps.

"...What the heck are you doing? What is wrong with you? Who cares about my safety. I can take care of myself. You should be at your family's side!". I spoke in a rather loud tone of voice.

Does he not understand what could've happened?.

I turned to look at him. Without changing expressions he just remained silent.

"...I think I understand why you are angry". Baraquiel said in a calm tone of voice.

My tone did not seem to bother him.

"No, you don't! She could've died! DIED!!! Have you thought about it even for a moment!?". I shouted angrily.

Why isn't he staying at their side?.

"...I heard about you from that silver-haired maid. She told me that you have been keeping an eye on my Shuri and Akeno". Baraquiel paused as he seemed to think of his next words. "It has been for quite some time. Shuri also said you became friends with my daughter, becoming her playmate. Shuri also mentioned how you helped to liven things around the house... You kept them safe while I was not here, and for that, you have my gratitude".

Bowing my way, Baraquiel used a soft tone of voice to talk to me.

Extending a hand to stop me from speaking when I was about to ask what this was about, he continued.

"I shudder at the thought of what could've happened without your presence. She is the love of my life, and I don't know what I would've done if she had died. The same could be said about my little girl. She is the fruit of the love from my wife and me after all". Baraquiel muttered. "I deserve more than your anger from what I almost failed to do... no, in a sense, I failed to do it. However, my Shuri did not blame me. Akeno was not mad at me either... She was even happy that her father had arrived in time to protect them. Akeno said that I kept my promise to keep them safe".

Baraquiel tried to keep a neutral expression, but his tightened fists were enough to express his emotions about it. Was it anger at himself for allowing his family to get hurt? Maybe he is just angry at those who hurt them, but those fists... were bleeding as his fingers dug on the palm of his hands.

Observing that, my emotions that had been disordered, calmed down.

"Isn't it strange? I failed them, but I get their gratitude and appreciation instead". Baraquiel looked down. "It is selfish of me, but I felt relieved that someone got mad at me. Thank you".

"...I don't need your thanks. If you truly want to do me a favor... protect them. No matter what, no matter the cost. You aren't powerless like me, your presence can make a difference. Now, leave me, I wish to be alone". I replied.

Turning my back to him, I thought for a moment how to lose him. Using the first idea that came to mind, I transformed into a cat and hastily got away. Although it was not fast enough as I heard him say one more thing.

"...You are a good child. It might not be a bad idea to leave Akeno in your hands when you grow older". Baraquiel spoke.

I almost tripped and rolled on the ground. What is wrong with these people!?. Akeno-chan, you are being sold by both of your parents. Please, scold them.

∆ Part 4

Walking around helped me to calm my emotions.

I felt a slightly level of dislike for Baraquiel. That said, it mostly came from my image of him from the Canon. The story about Akeno-chan's past was heartbreaking, and I couldn't help but be angry at him for letting her go through all that. I only hope that he doesn't commit that mistake here. Shuri-san was alive, and Akeno-chan won't spend her days resenting her father. Putting aside the wounds I got, I think everything when perfectly.

Aimlessly walking took me to the house again so I took as a sign that it was enough of wandering around and got in. Thinking about how things were progressing, I thought a small celebration could be done. Going to buy a cake sounds good, but I did not like that much the ones from the stores nearby so I took it upon myself to make one.

I had brought a great number of ingredients for Shuri-san during all these days so the kitchen had all I needed.

...

...

Footsteps were heard as I had put the cake in the oven so I turned to see who it was.

"Ara, I planned to make something for everyone but it seems you beat me to the punch. I didn't know you could cook". Shuri-san spoke.

Why are you walking around?. You were supposed to lay down in your room. Where is Baraquiel? I told him to protect them just a while ago.

"Don't look at me like that. I am in better shape than what I look". Shuri-san muttered.

"That's up to me, your doctor, to decide. Take a seat". I demanded in a serious tone.

She is stubborn.

Noticing my tone, Shuri-san meekly took a seat. As soon as she did, I checked her state once again. My diagnostic won't change, but since she will be seeing me doing it she might take it more seriously.

"Where is Akeno-chan?". I began chatting.

Not stopping my hands, I pressed the previously wounded areas to make sure there was no latent pain. Phoenix Tears healed everything just fine so I don't have anything to nitpick about.

Tsk.

I will surely improve my abilities so I don't have to rely on them.

"...You look frustrated. Is there something wrong?". "No, everything is ok". "No, but your expression is...". "I am fine". "*Sigh* Fine. Akeno-chan went to see that girl who came with the maid. She said that she was curious about her".

A simple exchange occurred.

Hmmm, Rias-chan and Akeno-chan. I didn't ask Sirzechs-san to take care of these two in exchange for Akeno-chan joining Rias-chan peerage in the future, so I don't know what will happen in the future. However, I think that now she will have a choice in the matter.

"Nora-kun... I wanted to thank you. If it wasn't for you...". Shuri-san began talking.

"You should save those words for your husband, and do not forget to save some for that girl and her family. It was them who did the saving. Not me". I cut her short.

Shuri-san put a troubled expression.

"What problematic child... I am trying to thank you because you deserve it. I... I caused you a lot of trouble. If I had listened to you from the beginning, no one would've gotten hurt". Shuri-san said in a forlorn tone. "And here it's where you say it was not my fault. Nora-kun, if you want to win the heart of a lady, you need to console and tell her that is not her fault even if it is".

I rolled my eyes at the last part of her words. Why couldn't she keep her serious tone?.

Although that earned me a flick on my forehead.

Ouch.

"You shouldn't do that to people who are talking to you". Shuri-san said in mock-anger.

"I am against violence. You will hear from my lawyer about this". I replied in a pitiful tone.

It was her turn to roll her eyes at me.

Oi.

"Nora-kun... I have one question. You are free to ignore it given the nature of it, although I would be happy if you answered honestly and openly". Shuri-san adopted a serious expression. "Why would you go this far for helping us? Usually, one wouldn't be willing to go this far for a stranger. Unless he or she wanted something from the other party. You could say that it wouldn't be weird to have an underhanded reason. That said... You turned down the favors that my husband tried to offer you. I heard it directly from him so don't deny it".

Before even trying to say otherwise, she shot down my response.

"I don't think your time with us was fake either. You being nice to me or getting along with my little girl couldn't have been an act. So... I can't help but get curious. Why?". Shuri-san asked.

I wanted to simply ignore that question. However, I am inclined to think deeply about it.

Why did I help them? Am I such a selfless individual? Sacrificing a lot for a stranger can be considered a noble action, but I am not like that.

I could sympathize with the possible future that Akeno-chan would've had if I had not intervined. It was terrible to wander on your own at such a young age after losing your family. Not having anyone to trust, being every unable to have a warm home to sleep at night. Running from place to place since she had people after her life. That was truly something difficult to stomach.

Nonetheless, there might be another reason. No, there 'might' isn't correct. I have another reason.

I am such a jerk. Being honest with others is one thing. But I should at least be honest with myself.

"Not having your family with you is a terrible feeling". I muttered.

"...What do you mean?" Shuri-san asked. Her voice carried a hint of worry.

Shaking my head, I walked being Shuri-san to urge her to leave.

"You are still not in shape to be moving around. Go get some sleep. I will have someone take what I made to you when it is done. Until then, just rest". I spoke.

"...I see. I think I get it. I hope you can one day tell me about it". Shuri-san said as she obediently followed my lead.

...

...

Having finished baking and decorating the cake, I confirmed that chocolate was the right choice as the smell had attracted a few interested parties. With Shirone-chan as the vanguard, Suzaku-san was behind her as her support, along with Akeno-chan who stared warily at the white cat-girl.

Preparing slices for everyone, I had them work for a little bit before eating. They had to deliver to Shuri-san and Baraquiel's share before eating theirs. For that job, I sent Suzaku-san and Akeno-chan.

Shirone-chan and I went to deliver Grayfia-san and Rias-chan's share. And halfway I remembered that I should take some to the old man as well. Only because it wouldn't look good to have everyone eat and not him.

...

...

Arriving, I found them already finishing the negotiations. They were just reading the documents again to make sure that everything was in order.

Stealthily trying to enter room did not work as everyone's nose seemed to detect the smell of the cake.

Rias-chan eyes were rather expressive as I could almost see stars, the same thing happened to the maid.

...

...

With everything ready, Suou stood up.

"I have no further business in this place so I will leave. From now on, those two are the responsibility of the Gremory household, don't forget that". Suou spoke those words before making his way out of the room.

Stopping in place, he glared at me, before glancing at my chest or rather... the thing hanging around it.

"...That is a strange object for a Youkai to carry. Where did you get it?". Suou said as he narrowed his eyes at me.

Feeling that he wouldn't be interested in something simple, I inwardly cursed Forest Wraith for giving me this. There was no need to answer seriously... since I did not know the answer anyways.

"Someone beat the crap out of me and gave me this for medical charges". I replied nonchalantly.

It isn't exactly wrong, but Suou only snorted at that answer.

"Nora-kun, My aunt is asking if there is more cake... Ah, Great Uncle". Suzaku-san who entered the room distracted almost bumped into Suou.

Changing his glaring target, he did not stare at her for long before closing his eyes and leaving.

"Today, Suzaku did not come with us, so there is no way she would be here. She must be in some assignment somewhere, as the Clan Head, I will consider it as such, so she is free to take as much time as she needs as long she is at the Clan tomorrow morning". Suou muttered that as he left.

Suzaku-san smiled faintly at that before bowing his way.

...

...

Watching from one side as Rias-chan chatted with Shirone-chan, and Suzaku-san who would try to join in whenever she could, I smiled.

It is a peaceful sight.

"She worked hard to be one negotiating. Learning everything necessary, only to be of help to her friend. You should praise her later". Grayfia-san's voice came from my left side.

Turning my head to her, she was staring at the same scene as me with gentle eyes.

"...She is a good friend of mine". I muttered.

Such a good girl. More than what I deserve... although I will just have to become someone that deserves her friendship then.

"If you truly think so, then you should visit her more often". Grayfia-san said in a slight reprimand tone.

I guess I should huh.

"If Maid-sama picks me up, I might do that". I jokingly replied.

"Very well, I will do so next week". Grayfia-san exclaimed at once.

She was prepared huh.

Well, I don't mind. Taking Kuroka-chan and Shirone-chan will be good idea. They might enjoy sightseeing.

∆ Part 5

Washing everything I had gotten dirty when I baked was one job I had to do, so I began doing it at once. Although I had to stop when someone entered the kitchen.

"Nora-nya... Can we talk for a moment?". Kuroka-chan said in a serious tone of voice.

I wanted to tease her for not ending her phrase with '-nya' but I stopped as she was looking at me with determined eyes.

Nodding in response, I pointed at the kitchen table, and she took a seat there immediately.

Following along, I waited for her to tell me what this was about.

"I met someone just now and she is a Nekomata-nya. I want to train under her-nya". Kuroka-chan stared straight into my eyes. "I want to ask for Nora-nya permission first, I can't selfishly leave without telling you anything-nya. Although I wouldn't go if Nora-nya doesn't want me go-nya".

For a moment, I felt everything go black. Cold sweat began pouring from my pores. But I held back everything by biting my tongue.

Gradually, my vision was back, and the first thing I saw was a pair of very anxious-looking golden-hazel eyes staring at me.

Avoiding her eyes, I lowered my line of sight.

"Nora-nya... If you don't want I-". Kuroka-chan wanted to talk but I stopped her by raising my hand.

I... guess I can't just tell her to stay with me and never leave me. It isn't my place to keep her tied to me. She also has the right to do as she pleases. I got them out of that place with that in mind.

"Kuroka-chan... You are free to leave whenever you want, I am not keeping going to stop you if that is your will". I muttered.

Before I could raise my head to look at her, a pair of arms embraced me. Due to the forcefulness of the action and the sudden pull, I fell off the chair. The owner of those arms naturally fell to the floor too.

Laying there, Kuroka-chan was below with me on top. She hugged me tightly, and my head rested on her bosom.

I couldn't move, no, I didn't want to move.

"I will go back to Nora-nya. Nothing or anyone will stop me from doing so-nya. I told you before, my place is at Shirone-nya and Nora-nya's side. So don't worry, I won't abandon you-nya. You won't be left alone-nya. Kuroka-onee-chan will always be with you-nya". Kuroka-chan said in a soft tone of voice. Her hands gently ruffled my hair.

Geez. Kuroka-chan has gotten pretty good with words. If she keeps this up, I might fall for her. Well, who knows if she already caught me.

"You should go. I... won't stop you. Are you leaving at once? What will happen to Shirone-chan?". I asked.

Neither of us tried to change our position.

"She will stay with you-nya. I was going to explain it to her later if you gave me permission-nya. I was going to leave at once, although I was told that I could take my time-nya". Kuroka-chan replied.

"Can you go tomorrow?". I spoke.

It was a selfish request but...

"Then, I will go tomorrow-nya". Kuroka-chan answered back in a happy tone of voice.

Smiling wryly, I stayed in my position for a bit longer before twisting my body to have Kuroka-chan on top of me, with her head on my chest. It was my turn to cuddle her for a little bit.

...

...

As Kuroka-chan left to talk to Shirone-chan. I was alone again in the kitchen. As soon as she left, I contacted a certain someone since there was a request I wanted to ask her. So I only noticed the timid person(youkai) peeking from outside the room after the communication ended.

"Come in, I won't bite you". I muttered.

In a rare situation where she had her ears down and a meek expression, Shizuku-san meekly approached me.

"Are you not angry at me?". Shizuku-san weakly spoke.

Ah, that. Kuroka-chan did tell me about it.

"Is this about the black kitty? Don't worry. While I can't say I don't feel complicated about what happened, I know it was that girl's own decision. That said... I have a little question I want to ask. Would you like to work for me?". I asked as I stared straight into her eyes.

Tilting her head, Shizuku-san look at me with pity.

"Did you hit your head?". Shizuku-san questioned.

This damned kitsune.

Extending my hands, I grabbed her tail.

"Ouch, no, no, I am sorry. Not the tail, without the fluffiness I lose part of my identity". Shizuku-san complained.

I just grabbed her tail, and by no means, did I attempt to destroy the fluffiness. Instead, I might use what I read about patting on her if she doesn't behave.

"I am being serious. I already got permission from Yasaka-san. It all depends on your decision". I explained.

Fearfully staring at where my hand was holding her tail, Shizuku-san only furrowed her eyebrows.

"Did Yasaka-sama throw me away?". Shizuku-san asked in a grim tone of voice.

"Yasaka-san would never do that. She isn't that type of person. I had to make several promises I can not say aloud to finally get her permission. It was also only if I got your approval too". I immediately answered back. "I can double your paycheck. Uh... I can also warm your bed?".

"Shiki-sama, I must retort here. That last one will end benefiting you more than me". Shizuku-san glared at me. "Although I can tell that you are trying to fool around to make feel better... I think. I want to speak with Yasaka-sama first. I won't give you an answer until then. And it has to be three times what I earn right now. I want to get a cake ever- ok, I will stop joking so don't continue with that petting. It makes me feel strange".

Since she began to get greedy, I applied punishment. However, I wonder what was that strange feeling she got. More research is needed.

"I will be waiting for it". I said. "Help me with this. It is time to leave".

...

...

Everything that I wanted to accomplish was finished, so it was time to leave.

After I told Rias-chan to come and visit Urakyoto sometime, I was told that she would need a permit and that would take a while, so I told her that I would get her that permission through my channels(Yasaka-san). The girl was pretty happy, enough to plant a kiss on my cheek without feeling a tinge of embarrassment. She was bold to do it in front of everyone just when we were about to leave.

Grayfia-san stared at me for while so after I jokingly said I would do one thing she wanted as thanks, the maid did not hesitate to pat my ears. But she had to take Rias-chan home so she reluctantly took off her hands from my ears. And immediately teleported together with the devil girl.

The agreement was to take the mother and daughter duo to the Gremory territory, but it would happen at a later date. Baraquiel would have a hard time going to meet them until they were settled, so they wanted to have some time as a family for a bit.

"I guess this is it. Goodbye". I waved at everyone.

Kuroka-chan and Shirone-chan copied my actions.

Shizuku-san just bowed in the other party's direction.

Baraquiel, Shuri-san, Akeno-chan, and Suzaku-san wave at us.

I did not want any touching farewell so I turned my back to them. With that, I could leave at once.

"Wait". "Nora-kun!".

Two voices stopped me.

Glancing behind me, Suzaku-san was staring at Akeno-chan, and vice versa. They both called so they might be surprised.

"Etto, Nora-kun... When will I see you again? There are so many things that we did not get to do together". Akeno-chan said with upturned eyes. Although the sneaky glance she gave to Shuri-san, and how the woman secretly gave her thumbs up made me understand what this was truly about.

"You can contact my manager, and she will arrange the schedule". I replied.

Hearing my words, Akeno-chan looked left, and right without knowing what to say.

Geez.

I moved until I was in front of her, and patted her head softly.

"We will meet again. Although, I will get angry if you let Shuri-san tell you what to do. You are my friend, and you should decide what to tell me. Ok?". I gave one last head pat and turned to the last party that called to me.

"Hehe". Akeno-chan giggled in response and she put her own hands on top of her head. Exactly on the same spot, I patted her.

Ah, if she continues down that path then she will be lost cause. I might need to tone it down.

"Hmmm, You still have my phone number right? Now that my aunt and cousin are safe, we might not need to chat about anything in particular. But... I wouldn't mind if we spoke about something else. No, I should be straight with this. I want to friends with you. I want to continue talking with you". Suzaku-san said.

"I didn't think it would be otherwise though. We are friends. You won't get rid of me so easily". I replied, and at that moment, I had an interesting idea. "Well, see you guys some other time".

Hastily making my way out of the place, I picked Kuroka-chan and Shirone-chan. Using my non-human strength, I was able to carry them easily. Shizuku-san followed after me.

...

...

Having left the Shrine grounds, I lowered the girls. Well, I tried. They liked it a lot so they were not getting down.

"Nora-nya, I think we need to talk-nya. While I was away you got along awfully well with them-nya". Kuroka-chan said.

So it was jealousy. Is she simply angry?.

It didn't help that Shirone-chan and Shizuku-san nodded at her words.

"We will sleep together today so be a good kitty and get down. I need to prank!". I rightfully muttered.

Happy at my words, Kuroka-chan got down. Although Shirone-chan did not.

*Sigh*

One hand will work.

Pulling out my phone, I wrote a simple message.

'Since you wanted me to write more messages, here is one. Let's chat again.

PS: Red suits you very nicely, it makes you look mature... If you know what I mean'.

And sent.

I will probably get killed soon.

"NORA-KUN, YOU IDIOT!". Certain Shrine Maiden yell could be heard even at our location.

Ah, a new message.

'@##&&@&#!!!!!

STAY WHERE YOU ARE, I WILL CATCH YOU!!'.

Yeah, I think I might have gone too far.

"Girls, I hope you are prepared to run". I said but I was already sprinting away.

"Shiki-sama... What did you do?". "Nora-nya, what did you do?".

The questions and judging eyes of two people(youkai) were on me, but I did not stop my feet.

...

...

Many things happened, and after a terrible trip on that damn train and a little walk, we were back to Urakyoto.

We parted ways with Shizuku-san who was going to report to Yasaka-san. Her outfit had been changed for a new one, and her wounds had been taken care by me on the train. Which helped me distract myself.

I wanted to see Yasaka-san too, but I was seriously tired. My body was barely awake.

After asking Shizuku-san for the names and addresses of the Youkais that lent me a hand, I took the kitties and went home.

...

...

A little bath and we were all ready to nap.

I had many worries. Mainly about this black-haired girl. It was a great idea that she had a phone, so we would be able to talk often.

"Hey... Don't go forgetting about me if you meet a handsome guy. I would get very sad". I half-jokingly said to Kuroka-chan in a low tone of voice.

Kuroka-chan and I were laying each on one side of Shirone-chan. The little girl was prey to the sleep demons as soon as her head touched the futon.

Kuroka-chan pinched my cheek.

Ouch.

"Nora-nya is the only handsome guy I would pay attention to. I will get angry if you make that kind of jokes-nya.". Kuroka-chan replied.

It is kind of lame that I got relieved to hear that. My bad personality made me ask that just to hear that answer from the kitty.

"Kuroka-chan... You have to... take care... of yourself... Wash your teeth... Ah... Who will... comb your hair? It is... my job... I will... miss you... Zzz". I mumbled before I could no longer maintain my eyes open.

I got defeated by the sleep demons.

Observing how Nora fell asleep, Kuroka rubbed gently the place she pinched.

She was a little angry at his joke. For Kuroka, Nora was the only person other than Shirone that she could open to. Other girls, not to mention other guys were out of question.

It would be a lie to say that she was not a bit sad to part with Nora and Shirone for some time. But it was all to get stronger. She wouldn't let him get hurt. Kuroka would take care of Nora and Shirone's enemies in their stead.

Because she was the Onee-chan.

Author's corner!

Hey, there. I will firstly remind you that I will take some time to do edition on my earlier chapters. The priority will be the first volume, then the second. I will fix those as they have more mistakes and there is the thing about Grayfia being single that I need to modify.

I might take from 2 weeks to 1 month. No more than that. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Now, for the chapter. I can deny that you will see Nora being slight hostile to Baraquiel. It is simply because I the author did not like how he acted when Shuri died. Putting aside the fact that he failed to protect her, which it is understandable give that he can't be with her all the time. Akeno having to wander for about a year alone around japan because he was too ashamed to face her was too much. I truly disliked that.

That said, it is my narrow kindness at work.

There were a few things that happened regarding Kuroka. Don't mind it. I mean, I considered people who would teach her more stuff to the girl, and that cat came up. But she won't be far for too long. So don't worry.

Next volume is mostly done in my head, so I only need to write it. But it will have to wait the edition work.

I hope you enjoyed the interactions with characters this time. Suzaku in particular was someone I wanted to write a bit. The parts where I made jokes about her taste in you know, were mostly joking, but there is the fact that every older girl in dxd have that habit. Wearing those risky, you know. You could say that the scene with the fan service for the Mc was kind of perverted. My apologies if you didn't like it.

Well, that's it for this time.

You know how to ask any questions.

Good day to you!
