Chapter 22 (2): Give me a room

“Don’t you ever forget that you signed a contract with us. It will be a breach of contract if you leave work, and the compensation fee will have to be paid ten times the price. It hasn’t been that long since you bought yourself a house. Do you have enough money to pay for your mortgage every month? Don’t you also have to pay for your brother’s tuition fee to go to college? I heard that the tuition fees in Country M are very high, am I right?” The agent, Yang Qi, sneered, knowing very well how to hit a snake 7 inches below its head1.

Gu Xi signed a contract many years ago when his family faced lots of troubles. His little sister disappeared, his father jumped off a building and committed suicide, then his mother took away the rest of their family’s money, leaving behind her children.

Carrying a huge amount of debt, he had no choice but to sign an unconscionable contract. The company withdrew most of the remuneration, the agent withdrew some of it, and what was left of him was only less than 1/10 of his share.

“Do you get it now? If you get it, then get yourself back here as soon as possible. I’ll wait for you here at your house. I will schedule a magazine photoshoot for you tomorrow morning with a team from Country D. I’ll tell you the details laters.”

The agent’s voice echoed in his ears. Gu Xi put down his phone for a moment and touched his chest, discovering that his heart was no longer palpitating. The weakness of his body only aggravated his heat. It made him want to forget everything and could no longer bear it.

“I don’t want the house, you can sell it. The money should be enough to cover the liquidated damages,” His house in Beijing costs a fortune, and could even be sold at a higher price. “If it’s not enough, I can make an IOU. If you don’t want to, then sue me.”

“If you don’t like something, just tell me. Don’t let me guess.”

Rong Jing nodded. If they could communicate more, many misunderstandings would be solved.

Xie Ling sent Rong Jing to the vicinity of the Xie Li’er Hotel then poked his head out the window, “Your room at home will be redesigned. Stay here first at Xie Li’er,” He wouldn’t be at ease letting him stay somewhere else.

With that, he couldn’t help but stuff his black card to Ring Jing then quickly drove away.

What a manly move. Thank you for that, Xie Ling.

Rong Jing walked into a 24-hour convenience store. He wanted to buy some candy. After being dumped by Qi Ying, the original owner became addicted to smoking and alcohol.

I’m going to buy a few lollipops to get rid of that addiction.

After buying what he wanted, Rong Jing waited for the red light. After seeing the green light, he moved without much thought. He suddenly felt a strong force behind him after he took a few more steps, making him fall to the ground.

Rong Jing woke up from being muddle headed and saw a car parked in front of him, only a few centimeters away from him. The driver cursed and swore. If the Alpha behind him hadn’t pushed him, he would have been killed.

Rong Jing looked again at the traffic light in front of him. The red light was still on even though he had already seen the green light turn on.

No, I just saw a green light. What’s going on?

He couldn’t understand what was going on. He turned around and thanked the Alpha that saved him before walking back to the hotel.

He was holding the hotel’s black diamond VIP card that Xie Ling gave him. He could check in the hotel’s presidential suite. While Rong Jing was checking in, the person next to him was asking the receptionist for a presidential suite. Since the last one was reserved for Rong Jing, there weren’t any left. There have been important events near the hotel in the past few days and many rooms have been booked.

The receptionist apologized and offered a business suite but the other person was a little hesitant.

Rong Jing didn’t care about which room he’d get. The neverending love of his family in his original world made him apathetic in most things. If he gave it to others, Xie Ling could even make a fortune.

“I’ll give mine to you, I could just get a normal room.”

The person turned his head to thank him, and suddenly recognized Rong Jing, “Ah, young master Xie, we meet again.”

Rong Jing didn’t recognize him but that didn’t offend the other person. They had only met at the banquet earlier, so he understood that Rong Jing wouldn’t remember an insignificant person such as him. The other person immediately explained, “I am one of Wu Hanqi’s assistants. Director Wu is going to stay in this hotel for a while. He’s still working at the moment and has not returned. I came here to book a room for him first.”

The Wu’s had their own hotel though not as good as the Xie’s. The two families have maintained a long-term and good relationship. Just like Wu Fuyu, Wu Hanqi had also booked a hotel in Xie Li’er after coming to Beijing to show their relationship.

Rong Jing nodded. Even if it’s just a little, it’s good to make you, Wu family spend money.

He greeted the other person properly then went upstairs. He was still thinking about the thing about the traffic lights. He was sure that he saw the light turned green. His eyesight was very good. He didn’t notice that the manager of the hotel watched him walk into the elevator before making a phone call.

Gu Xi didn’t go back to his house since his agent was waiting there for him. He missed his family so much and wanted to gain some motivation. He couldn’t help calling his little brother who was traveling overseas. After calling, he remembered that during this time, his little brother would probably still be in class. It was daytime in Country M. Gu Xi really did hear an American conversation in the background. He heard some professional terms. It should be his professor speaking from the podium.

Gu Xi rarely called during this time so his younger brother asked if something happened. His younger brother had always been keen. Gu Xi’s frustrated expression immediately changed and he smiled, “I’m fine, your big brother’s famous, what can’t I do?”

He also told his brother to tell him if he needed money, he could ask him since he has lots of it. His younger brother was very sensible, saying that he had a scholarship. He also asked Gu Xi to not work hard too much and to take care of himself.

Since his younger brother was still in class, Gu Xi spoke softly and hung up the phone. Then he called Guan Hongyi, who was currently working. At this moment, he had to do a few night scenes. His surroundings were very noisy.

“Right there. You can’t put the props there. Who’s responsible for that?!” After cursing, he asked Gu Xi, “What’s the matter with you? Why did you call so late, where are you?”

Gu Xi was taken aback and suddenly realized something. The words that he wanted to ask him were put behind as he turned a corner. He smiled, “I’ll reach my home soon, just wanted to call you to talk.”

He understood that his friend also has his own career and life.

“That greedy Yang agent of yours let you take a leave?”

“He really didn’t want to but he can’t force me to stay.”

After talking for a while, Gu Xi then hung up the phone and his smile slowly disappeared. The night breeze began to whip. He looked at the surrounding high-rise buildings, the constantly changing lights, the colorful light screens playing on the buildings, and the busy roads. It all made him feel very small.

Suddenly, he felt that there was no place in this huge city that could make him feel at ease. He’s never had a place to call his home.

Gu Xi blinked, forcing the heat in his eyes to retreat. He suddenly saw the back of Rong Jing from a distance. Rong Jing walked into Xie Li’er alone, unlike at the Xie’s family banquet where he was surrounded by a lot of people.

When he came back to his senses, he had already walked into the hotel and was now at the front desk. He looked around in astonishment. How could he just follow him like this?

The receptionist smiled and looked at him, who had yet to talk, “Greetings sir, how can I help you?”

The receptionist didn’t look down on him even though he was wearing a waiter’s clothes and still acted politely. This may be one of the reasons why this hotel was able to come back to life after being acquired.

Gu Xi hesitated for a long time to speak, then finally lowered the brim of his hat, “…give me a room.”
