Chapter 5: Death she walks.

Bethany lived a lie, her entire life was a lie when she discovered there's a world beyond the basement doors, the place she called home, Mother prohibit her from leaving the cellar but her regular meals have not been delivered to her since yesterday.

 Beth decided to leave the basement to see what happened. Yesterday morning she heard shrieking and crying which was muffled by her mother. 

She was begging for whoever is also up there to spare her and that she had so much to live for, it all suddenly went silent after a loud 'bang!' Beth wanted to go up there but she then remembered that mother forbids her to leave this dark room or there will be a horrendous punishment awaits her.  

But she felt that punishment doesn't matter and she knows what risks she'll be taking but beth believed that her mother was endangered and needed her help! 

Beth took a step out of the basement after she struggled with turning the doorknob.  

There she met the sight of her mom lying in a pool of blood, beth walked over to the corpse trembling and called out to the body hesitantly...

"M-mother...?" Bethany whispered, she didn't get an answer getting onto her knees kneeling, she shook the mother who was once filled with life. "Mo-- mom!?.. Please wake up.. I'll be a good child....just please wake up--" she sobbed. 

Mother didn't wake up no matter how hard she shook her or called out to her.

Beth, stoped trying her body slumped down next to her mother hugging her once warm body, she didn't care about the blood she was covered in...as long as her mother was lying in her arms. 

Bethany suddenly heard the telephone ring, setting down the body gently she walked towards the source of the sound, there in the kitchen, the old red telephone hung on the wall. 

She just stood there looking at it silently before taking a knife from the counter and cutting the curly wire. Standing in the kitchen in silence she tucked the knife into her pants pocket. 

She roamed around the house exploring it for a while, but she felt hungry. .  . and couldn't figure out where the food is stored, fortunately, she found an apple to eat which rested on the counter.

Bethany froze in shock when she noticed someone was hiding in the house she can see them standing there looking at her, holding a gun in their left, as they wore all black. But they haven't moved an inch. When she opened the pantry door finding this person there. 

It could be the murder! She hesitantly touched them but they didn't move. Until the murderer tumbled to the ground. 

Beth finally realized that the murderer is also dead, but how...? 

 She didn't notice the pair of dark eyes looking at her from behind holding a knife.
