Ser Criston Cole shook his head.
"I would like my head kept intact, your grace. I DEMAND A TRIAL BY COMBAT!"
A small smile of relief formed on Allicent's face. While, I simply rolled my eyes. Rhaenyra by the side stepped front.
"I accept."
She looked towards Daemon, and the silver-haired Targeryan nodded. A small smile crept onto his face. If I remember correctly from Talya's memory, Ser Criston Cole has bested him before.
This would be a match for his redemption but I am not about to let that happen. This is an opportunity I created, for my own status to elevate.
"Now, now sister... why are you in such a hurry?" I walked carefreely. Poking her dainty cheeks. She was far more beautiful when young.
Now her beauty had receded, if I had to guess then it is because of the number of children plopping out of her stomach.
It is like as if she is compensating for all our dead siblings.
Daemon's eyebrows raised. I could feel his gaze on me, amused the entire time. It felt as if I was amazing entertainment for him.
From time to time, he would glance at Otto. They definitely have some kind of animosity. I heard, Daemon took Allicent's virgin head but that is probably just a rumor spread to demean Daemon and reduce father's trust in him.
Heh. What an enigma. He is dangerous no doubt.
I walked towards, the bastard. "Lucerys.. my dear nephew." Then, I turned to look at father. "Father... are dragons allowed to be chosen as a champion?"
Another round of gasps escaped everyone's mouth while Daemon burst out laughing like as if not expecting such a question. However, in my opinion, it should be possible... should it not?
Queen Allicent instantly held Viserys's hand tightly looking deeply into them.
"Please... husband. Please give Ser Criston a fair trial. He has served the crown well."
Rhaenyra stared deeply at her father. A sigh escaped his mouth as he glanced at her and then at his grandson.
The king looked back at me, then nodded. "There will be a trial by combat. But I cannot allow any kind of magic. No dragons."
That is a pity. Disappointment arose in my eyes. Sure, dragons were made out of magic and it is strongest in their presence but in the end, we being Targeryans should be allowed to bend rules.
Nothing is fair in life.
If we let vultures affect our opinions then the dragon in us will remain ineffective. We are conquerors firstly, not rulers.
At that moment I understood one thing. Father is weak. No wonder so many feast inside our nest waiting for the correct opportunity to prey.
I bowed lightly.
"Very well, father."
I glanced at my sister, walking towards her.
"It seems father will not allow a dragon. I would have loved to see Arrax in its glory."
If I had my way, I would have simply chosen fire as my champion. It does not seem as if father will allow for that despite his grandson being called a bastard. He falls easily in peer pressure.
Arrax who was gazing at the battlefield released a small roar. Awww... do not worry buddy. One day, when I am king. I will let you go wild on the traitors, bandits, and all those who break my laws.
I looked towards him before shouting in high valyrian.
"Do not worry. When I become king, I promise you, you shall fight alongside me. You shall rise up and free yourself from this cage. Just like how I freed myself from the chains."
Even if the other Targeryans could understand what I was saying. I truly did not care.
The throne is mine, either way, and what I said is the truth. In my honest opinion, dragons are not meant to be caged.
We should instill our authority in everyone else across the seven realms not letting them forget for even a second, who we are.
He released another small roar before flying into the air. Lucerys and all the others just stared at him as he vanished.
I shrugged my shoulders. "Poor guy will have to wait I suppose."

Ignoring everyone, I walked towards father.
"Father... would you complete this selfish wish of mine then? Since dragons are not fair... I wish to use our ancestral blade, in my palms."
Viserys eyes widened before nodding. A proud smile across his face.
"It is time, you learned to get familiar with it, son."
A smirk formed on my face. This was a favorable outcome as well.
Criston is fucked either way and my authority is to be set in stone no matter what.
"Thank you, Father..."
Father, gestured towards Ser Harrold who nodded. A few dragon keepers appeared in a moment's time, carrying with them a huge black box with red embroidery upon it.
In a blink of an eye, they opened it up. Out came an enormous sword, a scabbard as big as a shield.
Father, glanced at the blade with a distant smile as the dragon keepers by the side announced with honor and pride in their voices.
"This is Valyrian steel, forged from the fires of the underworld itself.... bathed in the rivers of dragon fire and ever hungry for blood. Wielded by Aegon himself, this sword is one of the few exquisite treasures of Old Valyria...."
With each and every word spoken, I felt a shiver run down my spine. The blade was bigger than I imagined it to be.
Everyone else simply stared at the longsword in awe. Daemon, Rhaenyra, Lucerys, Allicent, Otto, the Smallcouncil, Ser Corpseton... everyone.
"Blackfyre. The sword of the Dragon Kings."
Father closed his eyes momentarily as he gripped the handle. It was a symbol of power, strength, and might. A weapon unlike any other, capable of cutting through anything.
In my mind, I could already picture myself wielding it as I jumped into battle. Father held it in delicate manner as he walked toward me.
The blade was exquisite. A long and sharp design. It's blade was pitch black and it's hilt seemed similar to draconic scales along with a beautiful ruby-like gem in the middle.
"Take it, son."
I knelt, as I reached out, and took it in my hands. There was something inside me that had awakened. Something in my soul started to stir.
Suddenly, the sword began to glow like as if it was alive.
I gazed at the blade and smiled as I extended it above my head. Subconsciously my Blood Energy began to flow into the sword.
With a swift movement, I swung it behind my back. It was a tremendous force, a sound akin to thunder that echoed throughout the battlefield as it cut through the wind, producing enormous heat.
Flames... pitch black ones erupted from within it with hints of purple and blue.
It was as if the blade was breathing.
My body started to tremble as I stood there, holding it in both hands, shocked.
Father's eyes widened as he stared at me ultimately replaced with a content smile as of he had done his duty well.
Meanwhile, loud gasps escaped the mouths of my sister and her husband. All the others, were appalled as well.
This was the true power and might of the legendary sword, Blackfyre.
I glanced at Rhaenyra, a sly smile surfacing on my visage.
"Dearest sister, have you decided on a champion yet?"
