Subsequently sound returned to the ears, elder sister and uncle took off along with my nephews. They seemed to be in a hurry... only to be back.

Truly a pity. The lull in the waves had disappeared and turned into a raging storm that devoured the shore.

Hence the black entourage was presently in High Tide however not before having their whole body soaked in the rain and sneezing couple a few bits.

Even sadder considering that not only were they embarrassed, rejected by the Velaryons, and had their sailors devoured... they were furthermore being treated as patients now.

I shook my head. Thankfully Corlys Velaryon is not here. The embarrassment would be too much for myself and my house.

That reminds me... I do have to complete my part of the deal.

I glanced at the portrait of Daemon Velaryon, the first Master of Ships. The head of House Velaryon during Aegon's conquest also his cousin in a peculiar manner.

"Not bad." The portrait itself was made of high-quality oil and paint. A tall handsome man with tanned skin yet pale as a valyrian should be, dark grey hair, and a beautiful burly coat atop.

The Velaryons had spent a lot too much time on the seas. They had become one with it as we have with dragons.

The Seas in the control of a skilled individual and the Skies under my ancestor, Aegon... no wonder it was child's play to conquer Westeros.

Although the Targaryen dragons played more than half of the part. At the very least the Velaryons kept a steady source of income and trade flowing into Westeros.

It does make me curious, about what is further West of Westeros. I have read in a few books on accounts of Yi Ti in the royal library that when the traders first arrived at Westeros they thought of it overjoyed to be the 'Land of the Gods'.... however Targaryen are not gods, the elite dragon lords of Valyria came close but to naught... now they were all buried under ashes.

The world truly is enormous.

I gazed out across the sea from this room that overlooked the harbor. There were ships sailing everywhere; some large ones like those of the Velaryons, others smaller and faster. All looked to be heading toward our destination.

The storm eh?

Driftmark does serve as a port during danger. The High Tide has a tower with a lamp in the topmost chamber, to show light to sailors and ships lost in the storm and sea.

A great notion if I were, to be honest.

"Oh well." I stood up from the chair, stretching my body a little. Laena a little perplexed stood up with me, the same as her mother.

"Your grace?" She spoke with a confused expression.

I stretched my body.

"Do not mind me, my lady. I shall leave for Stepstones at the earliest. Enough time has been wasted."

She seemed shocked. "In this storm?!" I raised an eyebrow. "I did promise did I not? I intend to keep my word as the inheritor of the Iron Throne."

Meanwhile, Rhaenys Targaryen spoke blankly.

"It is not that your grace... it is just that in case an accident befalls you, we do not wish to be involved in it."

Now... that is not what I expected. A Shrewd princess indeed. "Should I leave a letter in that matter?"

A slight smile broke onto Rhaenys's visage. "If you would, it would alleviate our worries."

I gazed into her cold eyes. A sigh escaped my mouth. I gestured to her.

"Some parchment if you do not mind?"

With the same smile, she offered the strip of paper. My lips twitched, to think she had it on her... I took it without any other delay and began to ink on it.

Laena watched me intently.

"You have beautiful calligraphy your grace."

"Thank you."

I placed my seal on the parchment and handed the sealed note to her.

She nodded, taking the note and placing it inside a pouch, and handing it over to her mother.

Ignoring them, I trudged towards the window.

The skies were dark and it felt as if night had arrived early. The wind was strong, howling and whistling through the open windows. The rain fell hard, making it difficult to see outside the window. I could feel my clothes dampening and my face grew clammy.

I finally opened my eyes. This was the first time since morning and I could feel a smirk form on my visage.

Every part of my body was scorching, it was as if the ice in my veins was melting to turn into fire.

It was not often that I felt such heat in me especially since I turned into a Vampyre. Even the salt droplets in the air did not bother me.

I could feel every bone in my body slowly turn into steel yet remain light as a feather. I could feel the blood running in my veins as though it was a river.

My vision blurred...

I could see the entire city of Driftmark, the port, the ships, the city wall, the boats... my senses had instantly heightened further.

I reached out with my hands and grabbed the window frame, swaying back and forth as my breathing became erratic.

I could hear nothing, I could see nothing, I could smell nothing... all I could sense was my own heartbeat pounding in my head.

'Blood....'

The serpent was back and with that, a maniacal smile etched on my visage. I turned to look at the two females as my eyes glowed red, this was the first time they had seen my eyes open if I were correct.

"The next time you see me... I shall have the head of Craghas Drahar at your feet. Until then... goodbye."

My body wobbled as it freefell from the edge, falling right into seawater only for an enormous gust of wind to swoop in with a sound that cuts through the air.

In the murky distance, I could hear a small shout of, 'Good luck'.

~
Happy New Year.
