Jethro rushes into the forest towards the sound of the screaming girl. She rushes at superhuman speeds. She gets close enough to see the source: a little girl balled up on the ground as what appears to be a monstrous wolf growling and encroaching upon her. It has bright blue fur, amber eyes with no pupil, and so many fangs that they spill out and cover the wolf's outer jaw, leaving a constant stream of green acidic drool burning the ground. Jethro puts another burst of speed dashing in to connect their rapier with the wolf’s side.
The wolf reflexively backs off and whips around to face Jethro head on. “This wolf’s faster than any of the guys I’ve faced before. I’ve got to be careful.” The two combatants circle each other and Jethro is so focused on facing down the wolf that she forgets to pay attention to what the girl on the ground does next.
A flash of movement flies towards the wolf and within an instant it is decapitated. Another one heads towards Jethro and she barely manages to bring the rapier quick enough to receive the blow, the force of it forcing her to skid back a significant distance. “What the heck was that?” She takes a look at the direction of the sudden motion and sees the girl, she’s still screaming and sobbing but now there are two massive black insect-like arms behind her. They possess a shiny black carapace, spanning upwards of two meters, with several joints. And the inside of the graspers are laden with spikes while the outer edge is razor-like.
The arms are now violently swinging at random, cutting down trees left and right and leaving deeping gouges in the ground. The screaming girl is actively sprinting around in all of this, and unfortunately the direction she chooses is the direction of Jethro. “Oh boy. Let's see if I can handle this.” Jethro positions themselves solidly and attempts to receive the maelstrom of blows. One comes in swinging from the left, Jethro pivots in the same direction leaning the blade from its neutral position into the strike in order to mitigate the force, and succeeds!
The next few swings, while wild, are predictable and come in at consecutive left to right angles allowing Jethro to make multiple blocks from the hip and rolling off most of the force. She does make one mistake however during one of her blocks, not reacting quickly enough and meeting the swinging arm late, resulting in a cut adorning her cheek. Adrenaline numbs the pain and Jethro finally works up the concentration to speak while defending, “The wolf is dead!” Jethro glances a blow from above,” You killed it!”
Another is blocked from below. “Can you please calm down!” The swings continue relentlessly. Jethro finally feels a bout of frustration and parries the next of the girl’s swings, knocking the arm downward and away and allowing Jethro an opportunity to dash in and close the distance. Jethro slams her hands down on the screaming girl's shoulders and says straight to her, “the wolf is dead, just calm down. I am a magical girl, everything will be ok.” The girl then finally opens her teary eyes and grabs onto Jethro and starts to cry into her shoulder wrapping the two of them in her insectoid appendages.…
After some time passed, the girl’s crying calmed down. ”Do you feel better?'' Jethro asked. “Yes,” said the girl. “Can you let us go?” “Me?” “Yes, I think these are your bug arms.” “Wah?!'' The girl starts to panic now looking all around at the limbs. Jethro speaks in as much of a hushed and calm tone they could produce, “It's ok, it’s ok, just be calm and everything will be ok.” tightening her hug around the girl. The girl tries her best for the magical girl to calm down which has her wrapping around Jethro tighter. Jethro lets out a small breath. “These arms are crazy strong!”
The girl stares at the back appendages with wide eyes, following them to her own back. “Am-am a-am I a monster now?” she asked, scared. Jethro strokes the arms in a comforting gesture, “No, you’re not a monster. You have a gift. You helped me beat the wolf, you can help me do magic girl stuff.” “Help you? But you’re a magical girl, how can I help you? I don’t even know the first thing about using these arms.” “I wasn't always a magical girl, we just have to train and get better and gain control of our new powers.” “We can?” The girl looks up with hope in her eyes. “Just focus on your arms and slowly unwrap us to get started.” The girl started to uneasily unwrap the two of them, the arms moving shakily as they folded on to the girl’s back. “Are you sure I can help you?” “Of course you can. You just need to practice a bit and before you know it you’ll be defeating the monster's as easily as I do.” Contemplating, the girl eventually decides to go along with Jethro’s ‘plan’. “Ok my name's Molie, what's yours?”
This question shakes Jethro, reminding her of the rant her parents went on just a few weeks ago about boys who pretend to be girls. It chills her to the core. “What do I do? I can't just say my name, she’ll hate me. I don't want to be seen as a demon.” Jethro’s mind stutters to a stop when trying to think of a quick response. An awkward silence passes for a few moments, “Ummm… you have a name right?” “M….M…My name’s J-j….,” Jethro mumbled out of panic. “Your name is Jade?” Molie asked. “Yes!” Jade replied feeling really happy with that name for some reason. “That’s right! Magic Girl’s have secret identities. I should have come up with one earlier!” Jade now smiles pleasantly embracing her new name. “Yup that’s right it’s me, the Magic Girl Jade!”
