Jade stood at her front door frozen in fear, “oh no I forgot! I was going to transform back but Molie doesn’t know I’m actually a boy!” Molie is confused by Jade’s trepidation and proceeds to tap her shoulder, “Jade are you going to knock? You brought me to your house and now you’re just standing there.” Jade shakes herself out of her stupor. “You know what I think we can get the poster materials elsewhe-”

The door flies open and standing there is Jethro’s mother looking around for the commotion before peering down at the 2 with her face completely neutral before breaking into a friendly and welcoming expression. “Oh Hello you 2! What’s the matter?” Jade spits out the first excuse that comes to mind, “We’re girl scouts but we lost our cookies!” Molie has no idea why on earth Jade has outright lied to her mother. Jade’s mother responds in a soft yet concerned, “Do you want me to get your scout captain or parents for you?” “No it’s fine, we just wanted to ask if you’ve seen our cookies?” Jade keeps riding the bull of her fib. Jethro’s mother squints only for a second suspiciously before saying, “No I have not seen your cookies but I’lll keep an eye out for them. If you need anything let me know, I can call anyone you need to find.” She then closes the door, which immediately follows with Jade letting out a large breath she didn’t even know she was holding. “Why did your mom not recognize you?” Molie questions. Jade then grabs her hand and takes her away from her house’s front door. “She doesn’t know about the magical girl thing and so she can't recognize me.” “Oh. So why don't you just change out of your costume so she can recognize you and we can go in?” “Well…” “I don’t want to imply to Molie that I can’t transform because of her!” “I can’t exactly control my transformation yet. My powers are almost as new as yours so these clothes and looks don’t really come off that easily.” Molie’s eyes alight, “Wait your hair and eyes aren't always green!” “Yeah, which really helps in keeping my secret identity but it's just a little inconvenient for now. We can just sneak in to my window and grab the stuff and get out.” “Ok.” The 2 of them head over to Jethro’s window “Up there on the second story.” Jade points.

“How are we going to get there?”

Thinking for a moment, Jade says, “how about your arms? They’re long enough to reach up there. You can just grab me and I can enter the window.”

“Are you sure? They look really sharp and I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Don't worry I’ll be fine just lift me up there and I’ll get the stuff we need.”

“All right if you say so.” Molie tightens her arms into her back in anticipation before they make the loud crack of carapace shifting and her arms extend as slowly as she can make them. Molie grasps Jade as gently as she can with one arm, wrapping it around Jade’s midsection, ensuring that the inner serrations of the graspers only barely dig into the clothes. Surprisingly, to Molie, not even a thread is displaced once she cinches with the flat of the claw. The other arm reflexively lances into the ground supporting Molie’s tiny body as it undergoes the pressure of holding up Jade. With slow and shaking movement she lifts Jade up towards the window, “Am I too heavy for your arms?” Molie’s face is tightened with concentration.“No. Not really. The arms are taking all the load pretty well. You’re about as easy to pick up as a bowling ball, so I have to be super delicate or I’ll cut into you.” The arm makes its journey to the window until a problem arises. “Um. Molie your arm doesn't reach all the way. We’re really close but you need to jump an extra few feet.” “I can see that, I think my arms are locked out all the way and if I jump I’ll cut you, can you just like reach for the window some more.” Jade decides to recklessly yank themselves upwards and leap off of Molie’s arms, without communicating this plan to her in advance. Molie yelps at the sudden change in pressure and her arm reflexively snaps close, catching Jade’s retreating ankle and leaving a light cut on the skin. Jade now hangs off the window sill like a cat and proceeds to try and pry open the window. “Jade what the heck! I could’ve cut your leg off!” “Don’t worry I’ve got everything under control. Sorry I didn’t tell you I was going to jump, but it’s just a light cut.” Jade quickly opens her room’s window before the conversation can continue and falls into her room with a smooth tuck and roll posing at the end, “Heck yeah! I’ve been practicing that for weeks.”

Jade’s room is an ordinary 6 year old boy’s bedroom, blue paint with football decals on every wall. It also includes a bright red race car bed, dirty laundry scattered about, and a bright yellow dresser covered in Jade’s favorite star stickers. Jade steadies herself and tries to take a moment to see if her parent’s heard the commotion and are coming over. However this would be interrupted as Jade hears Molie yell, “I think you left a little blood on the window sill! Are you bleeding right now!” Jade looks down at her ankle which is now letting out a stream of blood running down her navy magic girl shoes and decorating the floor quickly with a growing spot of red. Before she can even react, she hears footsteps coming closer to the door. She runs over and locks her door before going back to the window  and yelling-whispering, “wait here I’ll be back soon.” She then closes her window and hears her parents try the door. She transforms back to Jethro just before opening his door and peeking out, “yes? Appa.” Right outside the door is Jethro’s dad with a tightened expression that relaxes upon seeing Jethro. He says, “Oh your back. Just heard some noises up here and didn’t see you come through the door.” Upon that quick comment Jethro’s dad goes back down the stairs. Heading over to the window and transforming back, she opens it and tells Molie, ”ok, my parents came by and i talked to them through the door. They won’t bother us for now.” “Ok, is your leg still bleeding?!” Molie asks in horror. Jade doesn’t even bother to look down and says, “It seems fine to me, doesn’t hurt all that much. Anyways, get up here, I’ll lean out and grab you.” Molie reaches out her arm as high as she can and Jade leans out to grab Molie’s grasper. “Be careful not to cut your hand on my arm!” Molie then jumps up that last extra foot of space in between them and they manage to grab onto each other. Jade focuses her grip on the width of the claw trying to avoid the sharp edges of it. Molie’s claws dig into Jade’s hand a bit but other than a light scratch no blood is drawn. Jade tugs with a surprising amount of force and heaves Molie entirely through the window, supporting her weight the entire way to keep it quiet. Jade almost turns giddy at their first bouts of team work but the elation is quickly ruined by-,”Jade your legs bleeding a lot! There’s a large pool of blood on the ground!” Jade shrugs sheepishly, “It's fine is just a bit of blood “ Molie’s exasperation spills out of her, “No it’s not! We need to get you a first aid kit! Wounds are not something to be forgotten.” Jade’s smile turns apologetic and she now looks cowed by Molie’s care. “Now, where is it?” Jade responds resignedly, “Fine. I’ll go get the kit.” “No you stay here, I’ll go get it for you.” “if my parents see you then they’ll freak out. We would be two strangers appearing out of nowhere!” “I don't care. You need help and I’m giving it to you. Where's your bathroom?“ Molie said as she picked up Jade with her normal arms. They wobbled quite a bit and she ended up getting blood on herself. Resigned to her fate Jade says, “It's out the door on the left at the end of the hall.” Molie then makes her way over to the bathroom unsteadily lugging Jade and then puts her in the bathtub, letting the blood pool in its basin instead. A trail of many tiny drops of blood reach from the bathtub all the way to Jethro’s room but neither child does anything about it. ”In the mirror cabinet.”  Molie then takes out the kit and starts wrapping all the bandages she could to Jade’s leg until she could not see any more blood coming out. “Doesn’t she need to disinfect it so it doesn't get infected?” Jade almost vocalizes her concern but remembering Molie’s rage she decides to remain quiet. Molie putters this way and that way making sure there aren’t any other scratches. “You know this is really overkill, it was just a bit of blood.” Jade says. “No you were gushing blood and it was getting everywhere. You should tell your mom when you're back in your other form.” “It's fine, just a scratch, let's just get back to work. I get these kinds of cuts all the time and when I transform back the cut goes away so it is fine.” “Really?“ Molie says, intrigued. “Yeah." “Wait, I transformed back to Jethro and the cut was still there when I became Jade again . Was it just gone when I turned into Jethro and it continued to stay on Jade? But then does the other form take time to heal if I’m not transformed like them.” as Jade was confronted with the complexity of her powers Molie proceeds to wave her hand repeatedly in her face, “Hello? We just patched you up and I checked. You seem to be ok. We can work on the poster now?” Jade however remained deep in her thoughts until Molie pokes her cheek repeatedly very fast, “Jade. Jade. Jade. Jade. Jade. Jade. Jade. Ja-” “Alright! I hear you! Let’s s go back to my room i have the stuff in there.” As they walk back, Jade sneaks ahead and gets over to her door and opens it; she then motions for Molie to come and Molie dashes from the bathroom to the bed room in as quick and silent motion as she can manage, in which Molie makes loud stomps while Jade quietly yells in dislike, but inevitably they both make it back to the bedroom. Now with the worry of the cut alleviated, Molie takes a look around Jade’s bedroom “This looks like a boy’s room.” Jade’s chest tightens in fear, “N-n-no the room was this way when we moved in and we never changed it since” Molie nods, “Oh. Ok.” “Phew, I dodged a bullet there. Alright then.”

Jade pulls out a drawer in her dresser and takes out a book, some tape, and a pen. “Ok this should be everything we need. All we need to do is draw what the monsters look like, write down some words declaring a warning, and a bunch of people will avoid them, and everybody will be safe!” Molie delightedly joins Jade and they spend the next hour drawing up posters and excitedly discussing how the monsters looked, what type of warning it should be, and where they should specifically leave them. The two near the end of drawing up the posters and Molie worries about how to leave the house when Jade clearly doesn’t even set a plan. But they eventually are able to leave the house when the sound of the front door closing is heard and it’s a sign that Jade’s parents have left. “Jade, why did your parents leave without saying anything?” Jade scrunches her face up in confusion at Molie’s question but provides an explanation, “They just do that. Why?” “Don’t they tell you where they’re going or when they’ll be back? And shouldn’t they take you with them? Or leave someone with you so you’re not alone?” “Sometimes if they’re going out for a long time, but usually not. There’s no one here” Molie looks back at Jade with worry but moves on, “well we need to get these posters up and we have an easy exit so let's get going.” Molie’s worry grows into heavy concern, “Now that I think about it my parents are probably really worried about me. Let’s put up the posters quickly so I can go home.” Jade doesn’t like the concerned look on Molie’s face and says, “I can put up the posters myself, you can just go home if you want to.” “Really? Thank you so much! I’ll head home right away so they know where I am.” Molie runs down the nearest road towards the supposed direction of her house but turns her head back and yells, “I’ll see you at your training spot later! Ok!?” “Wait when will you-?” But before Jade could ask Molie had left out of earshot. Jade forges on and goes forward to hang up the posters herself, without Molie’s presence she actively shies away whenever she detects an adult and more or less stealthily puts up the posters. As expected of a bunch of posters set up by a 6 year old and 7 year old, they are not taken seriously.
