He dismounted from the horse and spoke while looking at the two.

“It isn’t fun.”

Even if someone rolled down from a horse, the game was more important to Zenon. Unlike his tone when yielding, Isaac scratched his head and replied.

“Haha, you’re right. Also, it seems that I’ve lost, Young Lord Lionerik.”

Zenon brushed past the two of them in a cold manner without hearing Isaac’s response. After Zenon left, the remaining servants opened their mouths after reading the atmosphere.

“There are two of the Young Master’s doctors in the mansion. I’ll tell him to make preparations immediately.”

“I’m alright though…”

“What do you mean you’re alright? Get examined quickly.”

When Heloise pushed on his back to urge him, Isaac had no choice but to limp and be seated in a nearby chair with the help of a servant expressionlessly.

“Does it hurt a lot? Is the injury very serious?”

“It doesn’t, so don’t be like that. I’m ashamed.”

“What’s there to be ashamed about? I’m worried because you got hurt.”

“Young Lord Lionerik didn’t want to see that either.”

When Isaac mentioned Zenon, who left coldly, Heloise responded in a curt tone.

“Do you have to be conscious of him when you’re in pain? Why do you have to put up with the Young Lord’s mood when you’re in pain? I’m not like that even if I have my dad.”

“The person I’m conscious about isn’t the Young Lord, but…”

“What?”

As Isaac muttered quietly, he soon bowed his head with a reddened neck, and shook his head.

“It’s nothing much.”

“Boring.”

“Anyways, this type of wound appears frequently when receiving knight training, so there’s no need to worry about it.”

At Isaac’s response, Heloise immediately agonised over whether she had offended the pride of a sensitive adolescent boy.

Right, it’s possible at that age. The age where you’d want to look strong in front of your peers for no reason in particular.

Instantly convinced, Heloise nodded.

“That’s a relief.”

“Even so… Thank you for your concern.”

When she heard those words, Heloise laughed without responding. The reason she was fond of Isaac and stayed together as childhood friends was precisely because of this. He would always have such a charm at the end.

In any case, Heloise’s tensed shoulders relaxed when she was assured that the kid she thought was injured was alright. In an exhausted mood, she surveyed her surroundings belatedly, and realised the seat that Zenon vacated.

Just then, the chief physician of Langbert Mansion arrived under the servant’s guidance. He was quite an elderly man, who rushed over pitifully at the news that someone had been injured.

Perhaps he misunderstood that Zenon was the one that’s injured. After being updated on the situation, he was noticeably relieved.

Heloise was lost in thought for a moment as she watched Isaac being treated underneath the parasol. What should she do with Zenon who left saying it wasn’t fun?

Heloise didn’t even know where he went. Although she wanted to find him, she couldn’t search through another’s mansion as she pleased. There were only a few servants remaining, and most of them were missing. In truth, today’s meeting was, without a doubt, a failure.

She was agonising over how she should deliver the news to her parents, who were waiting for news of today’s meeting. Then, after receiving treatment, Isaac touched the deftly wrapped bandage and stood on his two feet awkwardly.

“Heloise, I’ve finished receiving treatment.”

“Yeah.”

Giving a rough answer while in deep thought, she sneakily observed Isaac’s countenance. With an expression that he knew nothing, he blinked his guileless eyes.

“What are you thinking about? Let’s return now.”

“Return?”

“Yes. Since the Young Lord has left, hasn’t today’s meeting ended?”

“Right… That’s true…”

“I’m glad that nothing happened to you.”

The boy’s face, who spoke while smiling broadly, was fine-looking.

Heloise scratched her cheek awkwardly. In any case, Zenon was a cause for concern. If she left the kid, who had departed quickly, on his own, there may be unimaginable consequences. How annoyed would he be during the next meeting?

She wanted to return after accurately discerning Zenon’s condition. However, she didn’t want to further burden Isaac, who had gotten injured while competing with Zenon.

“Hmm.”

“Should I tell them to prepare a carriage?”

“Ah, I’m…”

Heloise closed her mouth for a moment and chose her words.

“I seem to have left something behind.”

“Left something behind?”

“Well, I have a pocket notebook… I wrote down my personal information there. But I think I’d left it in the drawing room earlier.”

“Then let’s go and retrieve it together.”

“No way. There’s no need for you to do so, since you’ve even gotten injured. You can go first and I’ll return separately after retrieving it.”

D*mn it. It was suspicious no matter what she said.

Perhaps sensing that something was strange, Isaac’s brows furrowed. He looked like he didn’t understand.

“Shouldn’t you order the servants to do that?”

That was actually the simplest method. The servants were spread out in their vicinity, and it was clear without obstacles to their hearing. As such, they were also poised to head straight to the drawing room at Heloise’s words.

But Heloise hurriedly shook her head.

“No. It’s something really precious, so I want to look for it myself. Go back first, Isaac.”

“…Is that so?”

“Yeah. I’m sorry for not being able to go back with you. I’ll visit you next time.”

“Why are you using something like this to visit a sick person? But it bothers me that I can’t see you return safely.”

After he finished speaking, he seemed to go “oops”, before refusing to speak. From his words ‘safely’, it made it seem like Langbert Mansion was a den of danger.

The ears and eyes of the servants were like Zenon’s. Everything that’s spoken would undoubtedly reach Zenon’s ears. Even if he feels unhappy with those words, it was already spilled water.

Heloise hurriedly changed the topic like she was trying to fix Isaac’s slip of the tongue.

“I’ll be fine as I’m strong, unlike you. I’ll return as soon as I’ve found my notebook, so return quickly and rest.”

“Alright…”

There was nothing Isaac could do this time. He had sensed the strangeness, but he couldn’t nitpick any longer, so he nodded obediently. His expression was still uncomfortable though.

Heloise shot a meaningful gaze at a nearby servant. Having made eye contact, he seemed to have understood and nodded. His reply was that he would definitely take good care of Isaac.

As soon as she got the answer she wanted, Heloise left her seat and turned around. A maid followed behind her naturally. There were two maids that held the parasol and the fan respectively. Upon hearing that Heloise had lost her item, the two asked with a worried expression.

“Did you say pocket notebook?”

“May I know the colour and type of leather that’s used as the outer cover? I would like to assist you in locating it.”

“I don’t have a pocket notebook. Rather than that, can you tell me where the Young Lord went?

“What?”

With rapid steps, Heloise looked straight ahead. The huge garden of Langbert Mansion and the main building were visible. The mansion that she had to search through looked especially larger.

“I’m talking about Young Lord Zenon. I have something to tell him.”

“W—well. We, too, didn’t see the direction the Young Master was headed towards so we can’t tell you…”

The maids lowered their heads apologetically. After realising that the pocket notebook was just an excuse, they composed themselves and regained the disposition that a servant of the Langbert Mansion, where Young Master Zenon was the top priority in everything, would possess.

“But when he’s feeling down… He often heads to the maze in the central garden.”

With a very cautious tone, one of the two maids looked at the moods of those nearby before continuing in a hushed voice.

“Maze?”

“There is a small maze made by the gardeners in the central garden. It’s a place that the Young Master often visits.”

“Where is that?”

“If you turn right on the road that you’re facing, you’ll see the entrance. It’s obvious because of the rose vine.”

Heloise nodded and made a gesture of dismissal. Perhaps due to worry, the maids peeked at her a little, before bowing their heads and hid themselves.

She started walking without hesitation as soon as they had disappeared. As expected, she can’t go back like this. She had to check on Zenon first before returning.

As Heloise walked along the road as per the maid’s directions, she spotted the entrance to the maze that had intricately intertwined rose vines.

The red roses that twined along the considerably old looking iron decorations gave off a fascinating scent. It was an intense scent that was just like its owner, and the place was extravagant, causing her to frown.

“Would he be here?”

The maze wasn’t like typical mazes, in that it wasn’t complicated. This is because the only path that forms a circle would definitely reach the center. As such, rather than making someone lose their way, it was more likely that the maze was made with aesthetic in mind.

In that case, was he plucking roses to relieve his irritation by himself?

While it didn’t seem fitting, on the other hand, they held a commonality, in which they were both beautiful. If the beautiful-looking Zenon did such a thing, it would become a painting in its own right, so Heloise found that amusing.

Snorting at her own thoughts, Heloise stepped into the maze. At the same time, she made eye contact with a transparent blue fish that’s floating in the air.

A blue fish that was floating amongst the red roses that were in full bloom. It was an unrealistic scene.

That was magic. There was no other explanation other than it was a certain someone’s magic, and a trace of Zenon.

Heloise reached out towards the fish. As expected, the extended hand passed through the fish like a shadow.

As if it was provoked, the blue fish moved away, wagging its beautiful tail. Without being shocked or doubtful, Heloise continued to chase the fish.

As she slowly walked along the outskirts of the round maze, the center of the maze gradually appeared. Heloise felt like the scent of roses intensified as she walked towards the center.

It was because there was black haired boy with pale skin leaning against the fountain in the center.
