~3rd of September, 1991.~
The next morning, Gavin woke up at the crack of dawn so he could resume his usual morning routine; it consisted of half an hour of high intensity physical training, freshening up for the day, and half an hour of morning reading, during which he revised his knowledge on Arithmancy, Numerology and Ancient Runes.
By the time he was done, Brandon was still sleeping so he just left him and entered his briefcase, intending to interrogate Aelia about his discovery in the trophy room. He found her in the gallery of the Everhart ancestral home, which intrigued him a bit.
[Morning Aelia, what are you doing here?] Gavin asked.
[Morning to you too Gav…Ah, I just come here occasionally to reminisce about the past, don't mind me ] Aelia replied as she walked towards him.
[So what brings you here? It seems like you have something to ask] She then added, licking her paws as she stopped in front of Gavin.
[Right…tell me more about my mother] He replied, looking at her intently.
Aelia hesitated.
[Just out with it will you? I already know she’s a Rosier, you can’t keep hiding this stuff. It’s annoying] Gavin said in one breath upon seeing Aelia’s hesitation.
Aelia sighed heavily, before looking at Gavin and asking, [What do you want to know?]
[Everything]
[Well…for starters, your mother is the only child of Torquil Travers and Vinda Rosier. It’s quite the peculiar situation actually.] Aelia chuckled.
Gavin was shocked this time, he couldn’t help but take a deep breath.
[Torquil Travers? You mean the former head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement of Britain's Ministry of Magic? That Torquil Travers?] Gavin asked, rather stupefied.
[Yes that Torquil Travers…His relationship with Vinda was your typical forbidden love story; Torquil worked for the ministry and Vinda was one of Grindelwalds most loyal acolytes. Torquil was completely entranced by Vinda’s charm and the two were secret lovers for the entirety of the global wizarding war against Gellert Grindelwald. The two eventually got married secretly after the war, and had your mother after.] Aelia responded.
[Well that’s certainly unexpected….How come my mother’s last name isn’t Travers then?]
[Torquil and Vinda had a fall out because of your mother...You see, it was Torquil’s lifelong dream to become the Supreme Mugwump and he had your mother while he was campaigning for the position. Torquil didn’t want anything controversial to be traced to him as he was campaigning so he tried his best to keep his family a secret, alas Vinda was fed up with him once he started to ignore the family. So sh-]
[She took Sophie and decided to raise her alone. Sounds like something she’d do, given what I’ve read about her; she was awfully mysterious and very scheming.] Gavin interrupted Aelia and finished her sentence.
[That's exactly right. You connected the dots well..] Aelia said, somewhat surprised.
[Are they still alive?] Gavin then asked.

[Yes.]
[Then why am I yet to see them?] He responded, raising his eyebrows.
[That…I can’t say, sorry..] Aelia said apologetically, looking away from Gavin.
[Of course…] Gavin scoffed and turned around, intending to leave the briefcase and start his day. The amount of secrets the family had was honestly a bit exasperating, and he was tired of asking, so he just noted it for future investigation.

The first week of classes for the first years went by quickly, with a few things worthy of highlighting.
The first of which was the very first Transfiguration class for the first years. When Gavin and his friends got to the class, Brandon thought that Professor McGonagall was absent and tried to hex her cat form as a joke for the class. Unfortunately for him, his ‘joke’ angered McGonagall and she ended up deducting 10 points from Slytherin and giving him detention, which earned the
laughter of everyone in the class.
Second was Charms class with Professor Flitwick. Flitwick was a good teacher, he was cheerful and lax and made everyone feel at ease in his class. Apparently, he became a huge fan of Gavin once he saw his proficiency in Charms. He praised him a lot and called him a never before seen genius, earning the admiration of all the children in the class. Normally, this would have fueled Gavin’s ego but this time, he was rather embarrassed due to the excessive praise.
Herbology was dreadful in Gavin’s eyes, even though Professor Sprout was nice. Gavin nearly slept throughout the class due to boredom, but Estelle kept him awake. Surprisingly, Daphne was a genius at herbology; she knew practically every plant Professor Sprout mentioned in great detail.
Defense Against the Dark Arts was Brandon and Estelle’s favorite class. They were extremely eager to learn and answered Professor Quirrell’s questions with ease. Quirrel was constantly stuttering and Gavin was alert throughout the class, scrutinizing Quirrel in great detail, in order to make sure everything was the same as the plot. Fortunately it was, because Gavin could sense Voldemort's existence on him, due to the subtle magical energy fluctuations he was unknowingly causing.
Astronomy and History of Magic were pretty straightforward for Gavin because they were purely theoretical and that was Gavin’s forte. Thus, he found them relaxing, interesting, and easy. Brandon and Daphne abhorred Astronomy, though the quartet all liked History of Magic.
Then came Potions class, which was held jointly with the Gryffindor first years in the dungeon. It was arguably the highlight of the week. Gavin had sat beside Harry and Hermione for the class. He introduced himself to Harry and caught up with Hermione.
The class proceeded similarly to the way it did in the plot, with Snape bombarding Harry with questions, earning repeated sniggers from Brandon and Malfoy, though Snape ignored them most likely due to favoritism.
Harry told Snape to ask Hermione instead since she was raising her hand throughout the entire questioning, and earned the laughter of most of the children in the class. Snape then asked Estelle the answer to the question but she kept stuttering once she saw the looks everyone in the class was giving her. The gryffindors laughed at her behavior.
Brandon and Daphne were going to speak up for her, but Gavin beat them to it. He said “Oi, what’s so funny?” loudly, in a slightly aggressive tone causing everyone to shut up instantly. He then gave Estelle a reassuring smile, which caused her to answer Snape’s questions accurately.
The flying lesson was Gavin’s playground. He didn’t even have to say up before the broom went up to him, seriously impressing Madam Hooch. Feeling himself, Gavin then decided to put on a show and flew on his broom by standing on it instead of mounting it. He performed all sorts of aerial maneuvers in the air while closing his eyes, earning the admiration and cheers of the students, though Madam Hooch reprimanded him sternly.
The rest of the lesson proceeded as it did in the plot, with Neville getting injured and Harry confronting Malfoy for Neville’s remembrall. Gavin decided against interfering so Harry could get picked as seeker for Gryffindor; he was looking forward to playing against him.
Thus, the first week of classes ended.
