Gavin had a wide smile on his face as he walked out of Dumbledore’s office and back towards the dorms.

Frankly, he was incomparably excited, which was surprising considering that he had just obtained troubling information about Lord Revan and the Global Wizarding War against the tyrant that was Gellert Grindelwald.

One would expect him to be somber and deep in thought, speculating more about how someone as powerful as this ‘Lord Revan’ could exist all of a sudden just because of his reincarnation into the wizarding world.

So why was Gavin far from being somber?

Well, it was because of one thing and one thing alone: The International U17 Dueling Competition. He was over the moon when Dumbledore told him that he had been selected to join the Hogwarts team, which represented the whole of Britain, in the tournament which would be held 2 years from now, during the spring of his third year.

Apparently, the tournament was the first of its kind ever held. Dumbledore said that it was one of the policies Torquil Travers, his maternal grandfather, introduced during his tenure as Supreme Mugwump. It was supposed to have been implemented during the late 70’s but got delayed due to Travers getting dismissed from office in 1975.

Dumbledore himself brought it forward once more upon his appointment as Supreme Mugwump which was why it was now being held; he approved of the idea in general and thought of it as a great way to facilitate international cooperation.

If it went well, Dumbledore said he may take it a step further and transform the tournament into something akin to the Olympics for wizards, with wizards of all ages and origins competing in all sorts of magical sports and games.

Gavin saw the tournament as a treasure trove. He couldn’t wait to duel with wizards from all over the globe, which would help him drastically improve his dueling skills as well as give him knowledge on all sorts of spells and the different wizarding communities around the globe.

He also longed to obtain the prestige from winning such a tournament as well. His goal was to win it and officially spread his influence across the globe as a young prodigious wizard never before seen in history.

Gavin was thinking long term. He mused that the influence would help him a lot for when he started a few of the business plans he planned to execute after he graduated from Hogwarts. He also thought that the influence would help him when he took over the family businesses in the future.

As the bond of the griffin monarch, Gavin was immediately chosen as the heir of the House of Everhart, which didn’t surprise him considering the fact that the family was based on griffins to begin with.

Evan had already started preparing him to take over, teaching him all sorts of lessons and introducing him to all the family businesses.

Unsurprisingly, the Everhart family owned a lot of business across multiple countries, which explained the absurd amount of wealth they possessed. According to Evan, most of their businesses were in France and Germany, which was a bit strange since the family was based in Britain.

Thinking about all this, Gavin simply pushed the matter of Lord Revan to the back of his mind for now; the man was dead and hadn’t changed much about the plot from what he had observed so far so it wasn’t too urgent for him to bother about, especially when the dark lord was still alive…well, not quite ‘alive’ but alive nonetheless.

Soon, Gavin was standing in front of the familiar snake stone statue.

“Ancient.” he muttered, causing the stone statue to slide to the side to reveal the passageway to the Slytherin common room.

Gavin froze as soon as he walked into the common room. It was supposed to be completely empty since it was late and Dumbledore had instructed everyone to go back to their dorms, but there was an emerald eyed girl sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace glaring in his direction intensely.

“Did you go to fight the troll?” Estelle asked curiously, with a slight frown.

“Why do you think I would?” Gavin asked, raising his eyebrows. He was a bit surprised that she guessed it right away.

“It wasn’t that hard to figure out, knowing you. Brandon and Daphne thought the same as well once we noticed your disappearance.” Estell replied casually.

Gavin chuckled.

‘She’s right, it’s not that hard to figure out.’

“Well, yes I did. I killed it.” he said, walking towards the couch Estelle was on and sitting beside her.

Estelle’s eyes widened upon hearing Gavin’s statement.

“You killed it? You can kill a Troll!?” she exclaimed, with an incredulous expression on her face.

“Yeah, blasting curse.” Gavin replied, yawning a bit.

“You’re really something…” Estelle mumbled, still shocked that he actually defeated the troll.

She then looked into Gavin’s steel blue eyes, pouted, and said,

“You should’ve taken me..”

“Aren’t you supposed to be worried about me?” Gavin replied, chuckling.

“You’re the last person I'd be worried about. With your intellect, there’s no way you’d go looking for the troll if you didn’t believe you could defeat it; it would simply be stupid to go after it.” Estelle responded, as-a-matter-of-factly.

“You’re too smart for an 11 year old.” Gavin laughed

“Says an 11 year old who’s even smarter than me.” Estelle retorted sarcastically, smirking at Gavin.

Gavin just smiled, “Where’s Daph and Bran?”

“They got tired and went to bed about an hour ago.” Estelle replied.

“And you didn’t?”

“I wasn’t tired.” Estelle replied immediately, blushing a bit.

Gavin raised his eyebrows, he could see her eyes which were clearly droopy and looked tired.

“You liar, you were worried about me weren’t you?” He said, laughing at her.

“M-Maybe.” Estelle stuttered weakly.

“Cute.”

“Shut up!” Estelle said, and punched Gavin on his shoulders.

Gavin just kept laughing.

The duo continued to talk, with Gavin telling her details about the troll fight as well as his talk with Dumbledore. Estelle was shocked hearing the story and asked a lot of questions, which Gavin patiently answered.

Soon, the duo said goodnight to each other and went to bed, thus concluding the eventful Halloween of 1991.
