Chapter 4 second day [Rewrite]

“Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic that you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back. You have been warned.” Said professor McGonagall while looking at everyone in the eyes.

“There are five factors in transfiguration. They are known as intent (t), body weight (a), viciousness (v), power and control (w), concentration (c), and finally the fifth and unknown variable (z). A witch or wizard will find it easier to transfigure one thing into something else provided that the state it was originally in had something in common with what it would be converted into, for example, a dragon statue turning into an actual dragon with the same size that the statue had.”

“We have separated transfiguration into five categories. Transformation, Switching, Vanishment, conjuration, and Untransfiguration.”

“The first category Transformation is the one we will begin with. It is the art of turning something into something else. If the transformation of something is improperly done it could result in a half-transformation, that is if you have luck, or else it could become a blood bath. So be wary of never trying in on yourself before we approach that subject.”

“Switching is the branch of exchanging physical features between two targets. Contrary to Transformation in Switching, the features of the two targets are switched simultaneously, secondly, the change in one of the pairs is dependent on a change in the other.”

“The third art of Transfiguration is known as Vanishment. Vanishing an object is “transforming” it into a non-being, so to say, everything. Vanishment is a very dangerous art because of its direct interaction with reality. Vanishing a magical being is known as extremely difficult because of the interference of their magic. The only known wizard known to be able to vanish XXXXX beings like normal Dragons is Dumbledore, the headmaster and previous teacher of the Transfiguration classes. This shows the difficulty of this art, which is probably one the hardest thing you will learn at Hogwarts. Vanishment is also not limited to physical objects this is shown by the fact that Healers use them to vanish sicknesses or diseases.”

“Conjuring is “creating” something out of nothing or summoning them from an unknown plane or place. It is possible to even Conjure living beings. For some unknown reasons, there are two categories of creatures that are easier to Conjure from nothing than any others, birds, and snakes. Conjuring can’t “create” “good foods” due to the Gamp’s Law of Elemental Transfiguration, but you will learn about that in later years. Be warned the dead can not be conjured or transfigurated, the reason for that is unknown though some believe that this was the limits placed on us by the gods, there are only three persons that are rumored to be able to affect the “laws” between the dead and the living, those are Merlin, Morgan Le Fey and Herpo the foul. Those three are legendary wizards who lived around a thousand years ago, like the four founders and they are rumored to be extremely strong which resulted in them being considered “gods”.”

“The final branch is Untransfiguration. It is the “counter art” of Transformation. It involves the effect of returning something to its proper form and reverses the effect of a Transfiguration. This is the second art that you will learn and one of the easiest. It is possible to Untransfigurate something without knowing what they originally were, though it is easier if the wizard knows what they are bringing back, the reason for that is that we do not Transform something back, if not that would have been in the same branch, we just interact with the magic used. The most famous spell in this branch is the Reveling Charm which reveals concealed things, if used on a person it will remove magical disguise, you will maybe learn that in history lessons or in other books because it was used during the Wizarding war by Newt Scamander to reveal the dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald.”

After that long speech, we had to transform a match into a needle, I was able to succeed after my second try. In my first one, I made my match explode because there was too much magic used, I think. At the end of the class, six people were able to do it. Daphne, Draco, Theodore, Antony Goldstein, Padma Patil, and me.

Then after getting the ten points for Slytherin, I was thought by McGonagall how to change it back to a match and then had to transform it again. She said that transfiguration is a bit like a muscle and the more you train it and do it in repeat the better you become. This is the Mastery step in magic.

History was the next subject. This was as boring as said in the books, with an almost not updated program and a Ghost speaking in an extremely monotone voice. I ended up practicing wandless and silent magic, while most of the class slept.

The general study was too easy. We were separated into groups because some had just a minor education in their home, many with wizard parents but not extreme purebloods, and the others had been homeschooled or thought by personal teachers to a certain level or had gone to school. My level is literally above most wizards because of my education in my previous life.

“So what should we do” asked Draco while we were going toward the Slytherin common room, because we were finished with today’s lesson.

“I want to explore the forbidden forest,” I told them

“You know it is called forbidden, for a reason dumbass. And we were told that it was dangerous for all students, while we are first-year students” she responded coldly like I was an idiot

“Oh, are you saying that you are scared, Pansy?” I asked with a strange glint in my eyes.

“No! I am not” she puffed while accelerating.

“So you are saying that you are too weak” I hinted, tilting my head to the right and looking at her with a smile.

*Tch* “I-“ she tried to respond.

She was however interrupted by Draco saying, “OK that’s enough.” And then continued “I am in!”.

Ohoho I guess wizards aren’t all such fun killers.
