Chapter eight Magic by Slytherin [Rewrite]

Going into Slytherin’s study I wished for a book explaining magic and I extended my hand. A book fell from the ceiling, of the cover was written: “Magic by Salazar Slytherin”, so I started reading it.

Magic is a supernatural force that we, Wizards use to override the laws of nature. Now many magical beings do not know where magic comes from and what it actually is, they only “use” it to weakly bend the ways of nature, for they have no idea what they are truly capable of and usually do not have the motivation, talent, will to explore the laws of Magic. So, I Salazar Slytherin will tell you where your magic comes from, the best way to know your level and what other type of magic there is

Now what is commonly believed by many “powerful” Wizards is that Magic comes from the soul, my answer to that is yes as well as no. I am going to tell you how you “make” magic however before that let’s go to the topic. What is a Wizard?

A wizard Is someone who has the ability to use Magic, which you should all know, if you are currently reading that, however, the question is why?

So, to answer that let’s separate all the parts of magic and spells, there are nine (sometimes believed to be ten), those are:

The brute power that someone has, could be in quantity as well as quality, then there is the control over that power. Then after that, there is Imagination and Intent, which are used to make something special. Emotion could also be used for “more” power or something special based on that emotion. The state of mind is how much one can “take” and do with that ability. The last three are more for spells and are Affinity, Mastery, and Knowledge:

what would be easier for me to do/ what am I more inclined to do

repeated action which makes it easier to do

how to do that.

So, Magic comes from the soul … What exactly in those nine steps comes from the soul? The first one, power, however, is that power (the first step) truly magic? Some say yes some say no, it isn’t magic in the term we now use, some call it “Pure Magic” and some “Spiritual/Soul power.

So how do we use magic you may ask? Through the core which is part of our soul as well as the body (I will also explain later all the phases of the core.)

The addition of all those steps makes the now day magic. Now that I have answered that let’s go to the question, why can wizards use Magic and Muggles can’t? (This will also answer the question about why different races have different magic and the different types of “supernatural powers”

The Four Planes of Existence is where our magic comes from. A Wizard is a being naturally aligned with the four planes of existence:

  • Physical Plane
  • Astral Plane
  • Mental Plane
  • Spiritual Plane

The Spiritual Plane is where our soul “resides”, so the place where our power comes from. The more one has control over “that plane/power in our soul which is in that plane”, the better the control over magic will be permitting one to use more powerful spells, less costly spells, as well as some other things. One Affinity can also come from the soul, affinity is the only “step” that takes place in two different planes.

The Mental Plane is where the mind “lives”, this is also the place in which Wizard take their Imagination and Intent to make the magic work the way they want it to go, sometimes it can make something that the wizard couldn’t imagine by having a powerful intent, will as well as desire. If one power in that plane is too weak it would make them unable to use powerful spells, complicated spells, or just basic ones which need a certain power of the mind, for example using one’s mind to move objects in a different direction (Psychokinesis).

The Astral Plane is where Magical Beings like elves, fays, and wizards have their emotions “stored” and can use them to fuel their desire and magic, making their spell more powerful in general or against something particular. Attack spells could become much more effective if someone has deep rage in him, defensive spells could be more powerful if the targeted individual is someone deeply lover by the user of the defensive spell. An example of a particular spell made by emotions is the Patronus Charm, this spell is made by the combination of happiness and hope, this spell was made to “defeat” Dementors who are beings that bring fear and despair while eating hope and happiness. The two most powerful emotions are love and fear, both “magical” opposites, after that is hope and despair, followed by happiness and anger/(sadness).

The Physical Plane states one rudimentary magic, elves magic/gobbling magic/wizard magic, and special abilities contained in the body like the blood of a Unicorn or the Petrifying gaze of a Basilisk. The body is the final phase of the “transformation” of “Pure Magic” into magic. The Physical Plane can also affect one affinity, with a body with magical properties. Some magical beings have bodies with mystical/magical properties, be it animals or human-types like Veelas/ Half-breed Veelas, their body/ body parts can be used as wands, potions, and rituals ingredients or to make “magical” objects like a “Holy” sword.

The magical core is the best way to give people a level because it not only gouges how much power someone has but also his control, imagination, etc. The color system is the way that we difference wizard’s power with, there are 12 “colors”: (comparison added by Bunty Slytherin)

 Stygian (Non-magical beings)

Black (child wizard)

Red (1st-year student)
