Chapter 8: Chapter 8

Back in the cave, Dave fainted after minutes of suffering from the pain. He was out for quite some time, and he was gradually healing. Before he woke up, he was fully healed; he was only missing most of his hair and his eyebrows. As he woke up, he could feel a strange scent he had never felt before. So he stood up and looked around and dusted himself.

"What is going on? I am feeling quite light! Could it be that what Doni said was true? He said that I needed to experience fights to get used to this body... I don't know."

Dave thought to himself and looked around the damaged cave. The ground had a few smaller blood stains. Not far from him, the boy's bag was located, but he couldn't see him. he could only hear strange noises.

"What is this noise?"

Questioned Dave and started walking over to the passage, which was not destroyed in the explosion, and he was shocked as he got there. Not too deep in the passage, three creatures were eating something. The creatures were covered with blood along with the walls and the ground. As Dave got closer, the creatures noticed him and stopped eating and looked at him. They were larger spiders, and what they were eating was seemingly a human being. Most of its body was already eaten; only the bones were left behind, and some flashed on the arms. The furthest one screeched, grabbed the corps and started pulling it away relatively quickly. As for the other two, they started walking closer to Dave, who started retreating.

"What the fuck are those?!

Shouted Dave as he walked back to the backpack; the creatures still followed him, but now he was able to see them properly. The creatures were primarily black. Their eyes were white, their legs were yellow, and each of them was very sharp. They looked like smaller swords. They were almost as high as Dave's knees.

"I guess I have no choice but to either scare them away or kill them..."

Said Dave and was interrupted as one of the spiders suddenly jumped forward. Dave quickly jumped away, but he wasn't fast enough, and the spider managed to bite off a small part of his left pinkie.

"FUCK!"

The other spider was about to jump at him; this time, he decided to duck down, but still, the spider bit a small part of his shoulder. However, he couldn't register taht he was injured as the other spider jumped back at him and bit off a larger part of Dave's left ear. The spider this time was so fast that Dave couldn't even react in time.

"I must think of something!"

The spiders continued to jump at him, not letting him take a break or really get ready for the next attack. The spiders focused their attacks on his left side, and he was full of injuries and was losing blood quite rapidly. After minutes of dodging and being bitten, Dave slowly started to adapt but was still too slow to do anything. Only his index and middle finger were in normal condition; every other finger he had on his left hand was severy injured.

"I must use magic; I have no other choice! However, I can't even do anything at my current level... but this is the only thing I can try!"

Thought Dave to himself as he turned towards the jumping spider. Dave nervously smiled and sent his injured left hand flying towards the flying spider and closed his eyes.

"FIRE! I DON'T KNOW WHAT BUT KILL IT!"

Shouted Dave, and he opened his eyes. His hand had a barely visible red aura around it, and as it collided with the spider, the spider bit it. The collision created a small firey explosion to occur, but it only slightly fazed the spider. It gave just enough time for Dave to punch it with a similar punch but with his healthy hand. The punch did the same explosion and forced the spider to let go of his left hand. Although the bite left a mark behind, it was still an improvement for Dave. However, Dave had no time to celebrate as the other spider was already about to jump at him.

"This might work if I can stay conscious after losing this much... And probably I will lose more blood."

Dave started using his newfound fighting technique against the spiders. Although it was not very effective, as it barely did any sort of damage to them and only slowed them down momentarily, it was better than just being decimated without being able to do anything. After Dave fought the spiders back many times, he started to notice that his left hand was spontaneously shaking.

"What the?! Could they have some sort of poison?! I must hurry and kill them or scare them away!"

As he said that, one of the spiders was already ready to jump on him. He closed his eyes for a short moment and then reopened them. A very thin red aura appeared around his whole body, and his eyes glowed up for a moment; then, he initiated another punch aimed at the spider. Much to Dave's surprise, he managed to punch the spider so hard that it wasn't able to bite him. However, Dave didn't stop just yet; he unleashed an even more powerful uppercut, sending the spider flying upwards. The spider started screeching and spitting some sort of green liquid at Dave.

"What the?!"

Asked Dave; however, he was unable to react in time, and the liquid hit him. The liquid splashed at Dave, covered his chest and stomach, and his extended left hand.
