"Sir! It's urgent!"  The paper work Rivers had to write hadn't ended even with hours of overtime every day.

"Haah, I already told you if Lyn Cypher himself didn't show up at our doors, I don't want to be bothered. You don't really expect me to care about a coffee sale again do you?" The chief  said sharply

Embarassed, the employee quickly countered "He is, sir! And he's looking for help!"

"Help? Did he say what for?" Surprised but more than ready to take the opportunity, the chief jumped from his chair and sprinted to the door.

"He did not, sir. Only said it's important. There's some green glow around his hand.."

Green.. It can't be!

Even if Lyn wasn't on the field, his knowledge of monsters was irreplacible in the hunting community. It would be undoubtably a loss for him to die to something like the Life Force curse.

Immediately recongnizing the possibilty of Life Force, the chief rushed down the staff stairwell even faster than before, instead of opting to use the elevator, making it to the bottom floor of the main builidng in record speeds. There he couldn't see Lyn through the crowd so he just announced that he was ready for him instead.

"Ehem! Mr. Cypher, right this way please!" The chief put extra power in his voice to get the crowd to move out of Lyn's way.

The chief himself? Aren't you busy you overworked company man..?

Still, regardless of what he thought, Lyn walked over unhesistantly wanting to get this over with rather now than later, and not wanting to be here when the crowd remembered his name.

. . .

"It's nothing special I just need a left handed glove... for this." Trapping another individual into his bubble, Lyn revealed his hand to the chief.

Dumbfounded, the chief inquired further about Lyn's troubles.

"If that's.. Life Force.. then how are you even moving?"

"Apparently, it isnt actually hurting my body. At least that's the conclusion I came to since it's been like this for a whole night." Lyn responded level headedly, his sleep deprived already getting used to the green glow.

A night?!

Taken aback, the chief cleared his throat started to explain what he could do, according to what Lyn told him.

"Ahem, at your level you can use artifacts correct?" Lyn nodded and Rivers continued

It's possible we could create something defense oriented for you. A glove would be perfect honestly, but our artifacers don't usually work with leather. It's possible, no it's most likely, the case that it'll take longer than most artifacts of it's level."

"It's better than nothing. Then the cost-"

"You don't have to worry about that just yet, just come by soon we can talk about what I need from-"

But Lyn's slow brain betrayed him this time. He was already expecting the ACPP to try and form some sort of debt with him so he brought out his ace prematurely, interrupting the chief.

"I don't really have a warrior's budget so hows this?" he said revealing the [Aura Bead].

Subconciouly using his inspection skills on the object the bead's worth was proven immediately to the chief.

That's.. such an unfortunate loss, but for the people we need this man.

"I've never seen something like that, but it's not something I can accept right now. What we need is man power, and that's all I'll ask of you, Cypher."

Putting the opportunity to research the special bead aside, and once again proving himself worthy of being the chief of the ACPP, Rivers rejected Lyn's offer.

". . ."

Initially stunned, Lyn realized that he's getting the best of both worlds and quickly recoverd.

It's not like i wanted to lose out on researching this bead myself...

With smiles, both parties came to an agreement on the deal and 5 workdays passed in a flash.

. . .

In his library, isolated from the outside world, Lyn sat in front of his computer. He couldn't help but feel like he was also forced to be on probation.

"By now the public would expect Sunny and Ren to get restless so their surveilence has increased." Lyn sighed wondering if he could even visit his friends, after being so closely tied to the reason they've been suspended. Just then however his doorbell ringed.

He rushed down stairs anticipating a package to arrive after recieving an email from the chief.

It's here!

Another, more obvious, reason Lyn didn't go outside was not because he had no one to go with, but because of the LED that was his hand.

"Haha, no more hiding away! Finally!"

From outside, the mailman knew excatly who's building he was at, and would do anything to escape the often curse filled atendent. However contrary to his preconcieved notions, Lyn was only full of thanks.

"Thank you! Thank you for what you do, good sir!" Lyn hurried snatched the package, slamming the door in the mailman's face, completely negating any positive feeback he might have scored, and sat at the nearest table to unbox his long awaited first artifact. On the box were two notes, one yellow from 'The Artifacer's Department' and one sharp white paper, signed 'Kind regards, Donnovan Rivers'. Unsure which was more important, he started with the chief's note.

Dear Lyn,

I hope this reaches you while you're still in good health. I see a strong warrior's spirit in you, and even more adept researcher. If you would like, the ACPP would look into that Aura Bead, and any information you have about it would be greatly appreciated. Here we would be always happy to serve you, and your team if need be. If there is anything the ACPP can do for you, don't hesitate to contact me directly for information or any other requests. Please, when you read this, visit our headquarters at your earliest convinence. It would be a good opportunity for you, without a doubt.

Kind regards, Donnovan Rivers

Still interested in the bead, huh? Of course Lyn knew there was only so much he could do with the bead himself. The opportunity to remian connected with the ACPP, in addition to the posibility of getting more knowledge he would never have access to before was not one he would give up willingly.

"So what could this say then.." Opening up the second note, Lyn was greeted by a welcoming letter of sorts.

The artifact you; 'Lyn Cypher', should be reciving on  'April 3oth, 20xx' is the 'Custom Order' of [1] Leather Glove [Mana Restricted].

Artifacer's Notes: 'An interesting story for a glove, huh? It doesn't seem like you truly plan on living a civilian's life if you ordered a combat glove, though? I worked a decent ability in to it when the crystals stores a set amount of your Life Force. How about you come see me in person, so we could get some specifics on your fighting style, eh? From what I hear, some jewlery would do you some good. Of course you'll be bringing the materials next time though!'

Stingy.. Is there no one is this world who does a good deed just to do it!? Lyn knew very well that everything cost something, or matter the good or evil intention behind it, but the man so caught up on the idea of getting to research monsters he brought down with his own hands would not give up the materials so easily.

"Haah, well it's something I can do today then. It's not like I had no reason to get to the ACPP anyway." Another day alone, Lyn set out to return to ACPP, cloaked of course.

. . .

A sluggish woman finally woke up and checked the time. In an instant she was full of energy, and as if she was a kid late for school, got dressed as fast as she could and was out the door in under a minute.

"It's finally time!"

Articles about 'an infamous rookie', 'a new Saint in the making', and 'another hunter destined to be at the forefront of the battlefield' were making headlines. Although there were skeptics about her actual performance in battles, she made sure to never pay them any mind.  In order to have a more flashy appearence she chose to debut at the ACPP Headquarters itself, to dispprove any doubts about her anyway.

"I'll make sure the whole world remembers my records!" Confidently, the next budding warrior shouted out to no one in particular her wishes. If anyone, surely she would have her wishes granted.

Ack, wait! My flight!

Distracted again, the mischevious saint rushed off,= in order to not be late on her special day.

. . .

"Did you hear? That girl was coming here to debut today!"

"The Saint from Italy? Theres a branch there though?"

"It's important to make connections for a warrior you know?"

"What would you know, haha?"

"Tch, just wait and see."

Making their way in and out of the VIP waiting room Lyn listened to the gossip around the ACPP building as he sat nervously.

Was today not a good day?

Nothing had been going the way Lyn wanted to this week. At least the limit growth stopped...

In addition to his internal problems, coincidently, Lyn picked the hottest day of the year to debut, coverage wise.

"I should have known it was a bad idea to stay out of the loop..." Although coverage of the rise of a new Saintess was nothing new to Lyn he never paid her any mind. It never occured to him that he'd run into her anyway. His only thoughts were to be in and out with no complications through the process.

"It could be worse though.. as long as we aren't back to back..." Lyn started to pray for a future he was almost sure would come.

. . .

Over the P.A. a request came through to the lobby.

'Bellora Hourson, please report to the Assessment Hall.'

Relieved he wasn't first up, Lyn relaxed back in his chair. Just then an almost frantic woman burst into the room.

"I'm not late am I?" The beautiful face and elegant clothing did not come close to matching her jumpy personality. She stood there waiting for confirmation or any annoucment. Like clockwork, the P.A. rang again.

'Bellora Hourson, please report to the Assessment Hall.'

"Yes! Okay! So um where is that..?" Immediately snapped out of her excitment, it never occured to Bellora to learn the layout of the property. Luckily for her, a man who sat quietly in the otherwise empty VIP room handed her a map and pointed.  She noted the unique aura of the man but didn't pay it too much mind. Somewhat uncomfortable with her stare the man quickly put his hood back on.

"Thank you!" Leaving no time to spare Bellora rushed out of the room.

Emotionally drained from just being in the same room as her, Lyn assessed the woman correctly.

That's the Saintess, isn't it? What a bother..

Just then Lyn also remembered another fact.

"Wait if VIPs go before the rest of the public then.. I'm.. after her..." In the worst way his wishes snapped back on him.

Fuck me. A defeated Lyn turned to research to calm his mind.

From the small time he scoured the internet, Lyn looked specifically for details on what the Saintess specialized in. From what he saw he could only learn some small, basically introductory, things about her.

A rich girl... a beauty.. uses a special type of magic..? Was the basics of what most reporters could gather. Lyn paused and thought.

Although it doesn't explicitly say what type, it wouldn't hurt to watch her then?

Again with research on his mind, Lyn had to resist the urge to use human test subjects just so satisfy his curiousity once again.
