Chapter 138: Guidance on Filming
The moment the results of the match was announced, Ye Lingchen had left immediately.
For him, it was nothing worth showing off. Furthermore, his performance was merely for Capital University and Huaqing University. The gain in popularity was limited, but a little was better than nothing.
Having nothing to do, Ye Lingchen planned to visit Hengdian Studios and check up on the progress of Huo Yuanjia’s filming.
At that time, the hype from the basketball match had yet to die down. It was still a hot topic amongst many. At the same time, Ye Lingchen’s name had been branded into the hearts of many.
Within Xu Wanqing’s mind, the figure of that young man unwittingly drifted by, mildly surprising her. She never thought that he was that good at basketball.
Even though she had no interest in sports, she too had been dazed by his performance.
She remembered that he had written something in her notebook.
Xu Wanqing then checked her notebook and stared at the problem she was working on previously.
The problem was very complex, already beyond the scope of the university’s syllabus, falling into the level of tournament level questions. Even mathematics major post-graduate students would have difficulty solving that. Her hobby was mathematics so she had a great interest in such problems, also considering it as a foundation for her future mathematics tournament.
She had never expected Ye Lingchen to solve the problem. However, her excellent manners and quiet nature prevented her from stopping Ye Lingchen and waited for him to finish instead.
It would most likely be a phone number or Wechat ID.
There were too many such incidents. That was the standard behavior of men.
Lost in her thoughts, she incidentally flipped to that page.
Such beautiful writing!
The strokes were firm and the calligraphy as smooth like flowing water. It seemingly gave a sense of serenity to those who read it. Xu Wanqing had always felt confident in her writing, but at that moment, a sense of guilt and inferiority welled up within her.
After the initial surprise, she finally noticed the contents that Ye Lingchen wrote.
It was not as she thought, but instead found formulas and a simple explanation of the steps.
Her acute mathematical senses immediately stunned her, ‘You can use this formula here?’
‘And here, changing a different approach and perspective made it so easy to understand.’
The final step was the stroke of ingenuity that set off a tidal wave in her mind.
‘Genius! He’s definitely a genius!’
Ye Lingchen did not write much. He only wrote down several formulas and its application on the important sections, yet it went straight to the point, clearly dissecting this problem for her. What was once a complicated problem was rendered bare in a moment.
‘The problem that bugged me for so long was solved just like that?’
Xu Wanqing’s expression turned into a dreamy one, with a bright glow in her eyes. It was then replaced by a firm look on her face. ‘It’s a waste if this kind of person doesn’t join the field of mathematics!’
Of course, Ye Lingchen would not care about what happened in the minds of others. When he reached Hengdian Studios, he headed straight to Huo Yuanjia’s filming studio.
He could hear sounds of shouting from afar. Cameramen, stuntmen, and other actors were all getting ready. Li Tai was organizing the filming.
Seeing Ye Lingchen’s arrival, Li Tai was mildly surprised and approached him quickly.
With a smile, he said, “Brother Ye, why didn’t you let me know you were coming over?”
“It was on a whim. I’m just here to take a look,” Ye Lingchen replied curtly, looking around the filming studio.
Li Jing was practicing his parts with someone halfway when he noticed Ye Lingchen. He immediately came over, and spoke sincerely, “Young Master Ye, thank you very much for your recommendation and confidence.”
“Don’t be so reserved. You’ve in my film crew now and we’ll be brothers in the future.” Ye Lingchen said as if he were a big shot. While speaking, he had already reached the set. “Redo the scene that you have just shot earlier.”
Li Jing and the rest turned serious. They knew that Ye Lingchen was here to test them. Not daring to be careless, the few of them immediately assumed the positions.

It was a scene from the early parts of the movie where Huo Yuanjia was schooling his students.
After one round of observation, Ye Lingchen creased his brows and shook his head disappointingly. “You lack the sense of awe!”
“Young Master Ye, is there something wrong with my acting?” Li Jing asked worriedly.
“It’s not your problem.” Ye Lingchen thought for a moment. “It’s the setup of the set. This scene should not be one where you just read the script and make some facial expressions. It requires some action.”
“At this point, Huo Yuanjia should be young and arrogant. How would it be possible for him to only use words to lecture his students? No matter how fierce you get, you will not produce that sense of awe! Since it’s an action film, the characters should be portrayed through actions!”
He looked around, then pointed, “Go get that training dummy over here.”
It was brought over immediately while Li Tai was watching from the side.
“Big Brother Li, your acting skills are good, but your understanding of the character is still slightly lacking. Huo Yuanjia’s personality is throughout the various points in his life. I will be Huo Yuanjia and demonstrate it for you guys.”
Having said that, he took a deep breath and closed his eyes. He stood there for some time, then suddenly opened his eyes!
His gaze was glowing like that of a tiger, a cold and terrifying aura emanated from his body.
Li Tai and the rest had a scare. They dared not look Ye Lingchen in the eye. He needed no words and they already felt the anger and sense of awe coming from him.
“What is Kungfu?!”
He looked at the disciples next to him, asking coldly. None dared to reply.
He stared at one disciple and barked, “Block!”
The disciple immediately raised his hand.
Ye Lingchen struck with his fist, immediately sending the disciple to the floor!
Following that, he walked up to another disciple’s side, “Block again!”
Bang!
With another fist, he sent that disciple flying!
After that, his legs shot out like the wind, sending two disciples half kneeling on the floor!
“Kungfu is something you need to polish with time!”
Finishing his speech, he walked up to the training dummy and lashed out with a punch!
Boom!
A hole was punched through the dummy!
“THIS is 12 years of Kungfu! Can you block it?!”
Cut.
Everyone looked at Ye Lingchen with a look of disbelief and utmost respect.
Although it was only a short scene, Ye Lingchen managed to fully display Huo Yuanjia’s arrogance and when matched with the actions, it carved the essence of Kungfu into the hearts of the viewers, making it much more convincing than just simple words.
“Young Master Ye is our investor cum martial arts instructor. In the future, anything to do with the action scenes you can ask for his help,” Li Tai introduced him to everyone.
“Young Master Ye, your acting skills are much greater than mine. I…” Compared to the rest, Li Jing felt more impressed than surprised.
What does the audience need the most? It’s the sense of immersion. That was solely based on acting skills!
At that moment, Li Jing almost thought that Ye Lingchen was Huo Yuanjia himself. He felt as though he had returned to that era. Every movement, every word, and the tone, even his gaze had portrayed the character to the dot.
“Acting is all about getting yourself into character. Read the script more and imagine yourself as Huo Yuanjia.” Ye Lingchen tapped Li Jing’s shoulders, laughing. “You can do it!”
