Chapter 262: Olive Branch

The group became angry in an instant.

Director Chen’s reputation was already bad to begin with, but since he was one of the smaller leaders of the hospital, no one dared not to speak up against him. At that point, the floodgates had opened wide. They had a chance to air their grouses and none of them were hesitant to say their piece.

Every allegation of misconduct was shocking, causing Grandmaster Yu’s expression to sour tremendously. Even his breathing became rapid.

“Grandmaster Yu, you mustn’t listen to their nonsense, I’m innocent!” Director Chen said in a panic.

“SHUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!” Grandmaster Yu glared at Director Chen and was so angry that his neck was feeling sore. “You’re relieved of your duties, director. You have no reason to stay here anymore. I will record your actions inside your file! ”

“Grandmaster Yu, no!” Director Chen said in horror.

A record on his file would remain with him for his entire life, making it difficult for him to find a job in the hospital.

Grandmaster Yu ignored him completely. He previously heard rumors about those incidents that the crowd mentioned. Some of those disputes were rather serious, but he eventually heard that they had all subsided.

How ridiculous of him to believe that it had all been dealt with. Turns out, the patients simply had no choice but to compromise.

He had been too out of touch with the people’s feelings for a long time and he never expected that the hospital deteriorated to such a degree. Even then, that was merely the extent of what he saw with his own eyes. He wondered how many similar incidents were shrouded by such dark practices.

A hospital like theirs ought to undergo some serious reparation.

Grandmaster Yu’s orders disposed of the matter with the utmost efficiency. It did not take long for the doctor and Director Chen to be taken down.

However, Grandmaster Yu did not leave just yet. He looked at Ye Lingchen with much respect and then gestured invitingly to Ye Jin, saying, “I’m the attending physician for his hospital and a part-time medical professor. Our hospital made a big mistake this time, but thanks to you, we can cut off this tumor from our system. May I ask where is it you practice?”

“Grandmaster Yu, hello.” Although Ye Jin guessed that Grandmaster Yu had great influence, he was still quite surprised when he heard that Grandmaster Yu was the hospital’s specialist professor. He immediately replied politely, “I am from Rugao City TCM Hospital. My name is Ye Jin! ”

“Dr. Ye, I’m glad to meet you.” Grandmaster Yu said with a smile: “Dr. Ye is capable of spotting problems at a glance and even stepped forward to oppose it. Your ethics and skills in medicine are outstanding as well, so I wonder if you’re willing to come over to our hospital?”

He extended an olive branch out of the blue.

Both Ye Jin and Xu Zhen looked dumbfounded and shocked.

Capital’s Metropolis Hospital was an organization where countless candidates racked their brains just to try and get in. However, Grandmaster Yu made him a direct offer! If that happened to anyone else, they might wake up with a smile every day.

There, one’s welfare and well-being would be miles ahead of that in Rugao City and could only be described as an instant road to success.

“This…”

Ye Jin and Xu Zhen looked at each other and smiled bitterly. “Thank you for your admiration, Grandmaster Yu. I have no intention to leave Rugao City yet.”

“May I ask why?” Grandmaster Yu wondered.

“I’ve lived in Rugao City for most of my life, and it’ll be difficult to adapt if I leave there. Also, doctors are important everywhere,” Ye Jin explained.

Medical expertise and facilities were lacking in Rugao City. Patients would be really miserable if there were fewer doctors.

“Yes, doctors are needed everywhere regardless of the place or location!” Grandmaster Yu’s eyes were bright and he sighed in admiration.

He originally made that offer as a sign of respect to Ye Lingchen, but his admiration of Ye Jin became even more genuine. It was no surprise that he can raise a son who had such noble medical ethics as Miracle Doctor Y.

“You’re a doctor from a county hospital yet your eyes are much more perceptive than mine!” Grandmaster Yu lamented. “Many people are now squeezing their way into big cities. The brain drain produces a big gap between big cities and areas outside of it. I can’t say much about other professions, but that should not be the case in medicine! Every patient should have a fair right to medical treatment!

“Doctors everywhere have the same mission and should be accorded the same status!”

Grandmaster Yu proclaimed thunderously and pondered for a moment before saying, “Since that is the case, I am open to granting you our hospital’s name as a doctor assigned to Rugao City. You can consider yourself as stationed in the countryside. How does that sound?”

To be stationed at the countryside meant that he would remain at Rugao City whilst simultaneously enjoying the same treatment as Capital’s doctors. In addition, that kind of relationship would ensure that everything went smoothly in the future should Ye Jin’s ever want to move up the ranks.

“This…” Ye Jin was taken aback but then replied graciously, “In that case, I’m grateful to Grandmaster Yu.”

“Hahaha, I should be the one thanking you. You contributed greatly to our hospital too.” Grandmaster Yu laughed and then sent the three of them to the entrance.

After leaving Capital’s Metropolis Hospital, Ye Jin and Xu Zhen’s faces were still in a dreamy state.

“I’m a part of Metropolis Hospital but I’m still stationed in Rugao City?” Even Ye Jin was in such disbelief that he began muttering to himself

“Dad, you don’t need to confirm it to yourself anymore. It’s really happening!” Ye Lingchen nodded with a smile.

“All I did was go to the hospital. I didn’t do anything.” Ye Jin was a little stunned. He was emotional but uneasy too.

“Maybe Grandmaster Yu noticed your character,” Ye Lingchen said casually. “This is a good thing, okay. Stop thinking about it so much. In the future, you’ll no longer be a doctor in a small county. You’ll be a great doctor from Metropolis Hospital!”

Ye Jin snapped back to his sensed and looked at Ye Lingchen suspiciously. “Why do I feel that Grandmaster Yu’s attitude towards you was very unusual? He seemed to be very respectful when he spoke with us.”

Although Ye Lingchen did not say anything to Grandmaster Yu, Ye Jin could sense something different in the man’s attitude and tone.

“You’re seeing things! You were seeing things!” Ye Lingchen said with a very determined expression, “I’m just a student. I’ve never seen Grandmaster Yu.”

Ye Jin and Xu Zhen nodded and set aside the doubt in their hearts. It was impossible that Ye Lingchen met the man before.

Next, Ye Lingchen took his parents to the most luxurious street in Capital. It was a pedestrian walkway that retained its ancient style and preserved its old buildings.

It was Capital’s East Street, where almost everything was sold with prices affordable enough to meet the shopping needs of the masses.

Ye Jin and Xu Zhen had also experienced how crowded Capital was as well as the booming economy. They were all gasping at the sheer number of people throughout their journey and found it better to live in Rugao City.

They helped Ye Lingchen choose a couple of new clothes before having lunch together. Ye Lingchen took his parents to Elite Tower in Capital Central.

There are still a lot of people there, but many came to look at the price instead of buying things.

Elite Tower’s location ensured that everything sold there was far from cheap. It was also a well-known luxury brand area, with all the items sold coming from internationally-renowned luxury brands.

Any bag chosen at random would start at RMB10,000. Many of the luxury goods there were out of reach even for an ordinary rich person, thus becoming something of a status symbol.

The prices introduced Xu Zhen and Ye Jin to a whole new world. Their brains were having a hard time processing it and they could not control themselves from laughing when they saw everything…
