“I’ll go with you.”
Chen Xiaoyan and Arnelle said in unison. Both of them were slightly stunned and they exchanged glances with each other. The atmosphere became rather strange.
[Oh shizz! It’s like I can already smell the gunpowder. My condolences to Y.]
[The dark tide is surging! The dark tide is surging, ah! As a Chinese, I stand on Chen Xiaoyan’s side!]
[I stand on Arnelle’s side. Y is very lucky if he can win over that beautiful Murican!]
[He’s taking it all. He’s going transnational as he takes it all! I envy Y’s luck with women.]
…
Ye Lingchen touched his nose before saying, “No, it’s quite far away and the sky is getting darker. You shouldn’t come with me. It’s not safe.”
“This… Okay. Then be careful.” Chen Xiaoyan bit her lip and nodded.
Everyone looked at Ye Lingchen’s rear figure slowly getting farther and farther. They could not help but feel eager with anticipation. Could that kind of trap really catch pheasants?
Ye Lingchen went to the depths of the forest alone on that occasion, but instead of going directly to the trap, he turned a corner and walked even deeper.
Since there were pheasants there, other animals were likely present too, such as…animals which eat pheasants!
Generally speaking, gathering together would minimize the chances of encountering any danger. However, it was inevitable that there might be times when one would be left on one’s own. In that case, it would be bad if something unfavorable happened.
His speed was very quick. The program crew would surely be stunned if they followed him. Everyone had to be doubly careful when they walked in the barren mountain, especially since the sky was getting dark. Walking alone was already dangerous enough, and Ye Lingchen’s bravery was surely unparalleled considering how brave he was to run around in the woods like that.
In particular, Ye Lingchen’s actions were more flexible than a monkey. He could climb up a tree in two or three moves in order to look at the scenery.
There were many birds and squirrels on the barren island, dashing around in groups of three to five. Ye Lingchen even saw several pheasants flying, but he did not discover the presence of any aggressive beasts.
Perhaps he was thinking too much.
Ye Lingchen thought for a moment before retreating.
“Gugugu!”
A pheasant’s mourning calls were heard upon approaching the trap. Ye Lingchen’s eyes lit up—the trap turned out to be a success!
He rushed over and saw a pheasant caught within his trap. It panicked when it saw Ye Lingchen.
He carried the pheasant effortlessly in his hand and began making his way back.
“Director, how can you do this? Could you at least let us play happily?” When Ye Lingchen was almost approaching, Dalei’s depressed and indignant voice was heard.
“It’s too inhumane! The program crew is too inhumane.” Little Mo’s voice also rang across the land. “It’s just borrowing a fire. Don’t be so stingy!”
“It goes without saying that Survival on Deserted Island’s program crew should be invisible. There’s no way we can help you,” came Zhang Yong’s indifferent voice. Not long later however, he revealed malicious intentions. “It’s not that you can’t borrow our fire. You can exchange it for one fish.”
“Director Zhang, this is too much. Turns out you were eyeing our fish!” Brother Yang had just only finished cleaning all six fish and said immediately, “We’re not doing business with you!”
“Exactly. We have a total of six fish and we don’t even have enough for ourselves. We can’t possibly give you any.” Arnelle pouted. “This program team is cheating us!”
“You can’t do anything with that fish if you don’t have a fire. You’ll be sure to benefit with this deal,” Zhang Yong persuaded earnestly.
He looked at the fish and gulped. Who would want to eat congee if there was fish!
How were they going to survive the entire week with such meager food!

“Gugugu!”
The pheasant’s call stunned everyone slightly. They then turned around all of a sudden.
“It’s a pheasant! It’s really a pheasant!” Dalei jumped up in excitement. His face instantly turned red and he became very excited.
“Ah! Mr. Y, you’re too amazing!” Arnelle cried in surprise and immediately went up to him.
“Wow, there’s really a pheasant here. It’s much better than the pheasant at home,” Chen Xiaoyan exclaimed when she looked at the bird.
The fowl was truly majestic, handsome, and very strong. If not for Ye Lingchen, other people might find it a bit too laborious to catch.
“That… That trap actually managed to catch pheasants.” The entire crew was stunned to no end. They felt bitter when they saw the bird in Ye Lingchen’s hand.
To actually be able to catch fishes and pheasants was simply too awesome. In contrast, the crew looked rather pitiful with their congee and steamed buns!
“Wonderful. There’s not only a pheasant, I also picked some fruits while I was at it. These fruits are very good. They’re all-natural and may be a bit sour, but eating them before the main meal is good for digestion.” Ye Lingchen distributed the fruits to Arnelle and others.
“Wow, there are even fruits!” Arnelle’s eyes lit up. She was pleasantly surprised.
Everyone was already starving. so filling their tummies with some fruit was just perfect.
Those in the live stream were dumbfounded.
[From a professional perspective as a graduate of Pheasant University, this is a pheasant! It’s a real, genuine, pure pheasant!]
[I’m a big-time pheasant farmer and I’ve been raising pheasants professionally for 20 years. Y really did catch a genuine pheasant this time! If you want to eat the same variety, click on my profile picture…]
[Y is just amazing. He was able to catch pheasants using a simple trap. We receive the same 9-year compulsory education, but why are you so amazing?]
[He not only managed to catch pheasants; he even picked some fruit. Could Y be a man of the wild and the wilderness is his home?]
[A person like him is the most perfect boyfriend. He can do anything! The highest-standard of a man!]
…
“Since we have a pheasant, should we exchange a fish for fire?” Dalei could not resist suggesting. There was no other way but to compromise.
“Haha, that’s right! Tinder is the most important thing!” Zhang Yong smiled in extreme satisfaction.
“Ah! Do you really want to make an exchange? It feels like a loss. I’m so reluctant!” Arnelle stared at the fish with her eyes and pouted.
However–
“Wait!”
Ye Lingchen’s words stunned everyone slightly. “We won’t be exchanging anything!”
“Y, you can’t eat anything if you don’t have any fire,” Zhang Yong continued to persuade.
“The program crew needn’t worry about this.” Ye Lingchen smiled lightly and casually picked up some fallen leaves along the way. Then, he used some tools to cut out a palm-sized hole in a fallen tree, which he then placed all the dry leaves in.
“This is…” Dalei’s pupils widened. “Brother Y, are you preparing to hand drill a fire?”
“The legendary hand-drilled fire? Is that really possible?” Little Mo’s eyes were also filled with intrigue.
“Fires originated from trees that had been struck by lightning. Since then, humans have tried to grill food with fire, but they were too dependent on lightning. Later, our human ancestors invented hand-drilling to create fire, and it was then that they rid themselves of the dependence on thunder and lightning! Hand-drilling wood to produce fire is very much possible, whether from a theoretical or a practical standpoint!”
Ye Lingchen’s words made everyone nod to themselves. ‘Although I can’t understand a word you’re saying, you make the most sense because you talk the most.’
