Ye Lingchen stomped his feet on the ground and launched himself into the air, as if stepping on an invisible ladder. His speed was otherworldly and he landed directly in front of the white fox.
“Squeak!”
The white fox jumped up in fright before turning around and continuing its escape.
The next moment, it found it quite difficult to move forward no matter how frantically it moved its limbs. Ye Lingchen’s right hand deftly grabbed hold of its tail and he looked at it with a smile.
“Ah, it’s over, my life is over!”
The white fox’s heart collapsed in an instant. It felt its body getting light because Ye Lingchen had already lifted it up.
“Squeak, squeak—”
It flailed about in a frenzy, twisted its body uncomfortably, and trembled uncontrollably.
Its body then turned stiff and was afraid to move any more after the pack of wolves came to its side and stared right at it.
Ye Lingchen lifted the white fox in front of his face and looked carefully at it.
Unsure whether it was an illusion, he saw a trace of childishness from the white fox’s face, along with a rather delicate expression. At that moment, it looked at Ye Lingchen pitifully with its teary eyes. Overcome with nervousness and apprehension, its fur no longer stood up and its ears drooped low.
“You’re scared now, aren’t you?”
Ye Lingchen asked amusedly and shook it slightly by its tail. The white fox’s expression changed slightly as a result and it unexpectedly raised its little paw to cover its eyes.
Ye Lingchen observed with interest and took out the lingzhi, placing it before the white fox’s long nose.
The white fox’s nose twitched and it licked its lips before lowering its paw somewhat hesitantly.
The white fox had a puzzled look as it stared at the lingzhi. It then looked at Ye Lingchen curiously, with its dark eyes lighting up slightly.
Ye Lingchen continued to put the lingzhi to its mouth, and it was then that the white fox understood what Ye Lingchen meant. Its droopy ears became erect once more and it stretched out its paws to take the lingzhi. It opened its mouth and took a big bite.
“Nomnom…”
It opened and closed its mouth repeatedly and ate in a hurry. With eyes narrowed in satisfaction, it enjoyed the food and took another bite, as though it were eating a mushroom.
Ye Lingchen could not help himself from swallowing a mouthful of saliva. The little guy seemed to enjoy those herbs so much that Ye Lingchen began feeling hungry too.
This lingzhi was of good size and more than half-a-century old, but Ye Lingchen did not seem to mind that too much. With his Wood Spirit Constitution, it was easy for him to grow lingzhi, plus there was also an abundance of other herbs in his herb farm.
It was no wonder then, that the white fox was filled with spirituality. Its fur was extraordinarily good because it ate herbs. It was downright amazing. Without a doubt, it was a mutation, and an exceedingly unusual one at that.
Under Ye Lingchen’s gaze, the white fox soon devoured the lingzhi, the size of which was more than half its own body. The animal then looked at Ye Lingchen.
The vigilance in its eyes reduced slightly but it was still feeling rather anxious.

Ye Lingchen placed him back down in the herb farm. He gesticulated to it and pointed to the herbs in the farm.
Although he could not speak fox, his advanced Animal Taming skills allowed him to communicate with the white fox in simple terms. The white fox quickly understood what Ye Lingchen meant and its eyes were filled with joy. Saliva began drooling out as it looked at the plethora of herbs before him.
After that, Ye Lingchen pointed to the wolf pack and Little White, signaling that they should get along with each other in harmony and treat each other as friends.
The white fox was still a little frightened. Little Green and Little Gray pressed their noses over and sniffed it. Meanwhile, Little White was able to play with the white fox, as they did not feel too foreign with each other due to their similar color and body size.
After dealing with that, Ye Lingchen got up, went back to the house, and prepared to have a good night’s sleep. The white fox’s IQ was high and it would surely not flee when such a large herb field was right there. Humans and animals were the same when it came to succumbing to the power of wealth.
The next day.
Ye Lingchen got up early, brought the wolves into the forest, and carried along Little White who was still asleep. As for the white fox, it was happily asleep on a ginseng plant with its tail wrapped around itself. Its nose twitched from time to time, as if dreaming, and Ye Lingchen paid no mind to it.
Being able to sleep with so many herbs was probably something that it dreamed about.
When Ye Lingchen returned from cultivating, a group of people gathered around the herb farm and looked carefully at the new guest. The white fox looked curiously at everyone too and did not run away.
Once it sensed Ye Lingchen’s presence, it swung its tail, and immediately ran towards Ye Lingchen.
“Wow, it’s so cute! So kawaii!” Dong Miaomiao’s eyes nearly turned into a heart shape. She could not wait to hold the white fox in her arms and stroke it.
“Lingchen, can you let me hug it. Its ears are so cute and I really feel like tugging it.” Xiao Feifei felt her hand getting itchy and she impatiently reached out to touch the white fox.
“Its hair must be silky smooth. Let me touch it.” Hao Yun also leaned over.
The eyes of all three women were fiery, as if they were about to swallow the fox whole. They ended up scaring the little guy, who trembled and hid behind Ye Lingchen’s feet.
“Alright, look at the three of you. You’ve scared Little Foxie. Control yourselves.” Ye Lingchen immediately gave the white fox a name.
“God Ye, are you really going to just choose a random name?” Hao Yun rolled her eyes and complained.
Little Green, Little White, and Little Gray were named based on their color. The fox was also white in color, but naming it Little White was out of the question. Ye Lingchen therefore gave it the name Little Foxie.
“I think the name sounds good. Come on, Little Foxie, come to Big Sis, I have something delicious for you.” Dong Miaomiao found a piece of chicken leftover from the previous day and tempted the little fox with it.
However, the little fox glanced at the chicken, and showed an unexpected look of contempt and disdain. It grabbed a few herbs that were within reaching distance and ate it.
“It… It eats herbs?!” Dong Miaomiao could no longer keep her composure and her voice was filled with disbelief.
“Mmhmm.” Ye Lingchen nodded casually. “I just fed him some lingzhi yesterday.”
“WHAT?” Dong Miaomiao immediately looked stunned and could not believe what she just heard. She scanned the herb farm and found out that there really was a missing lingzhi, and it was one of the older ones too.
The others were equally as dumbfounded and they did not expect something like that to happen.
“Have you gone nuts, Chairman Ye? You’re feeding that to the white fox? That lingzhi is worth at least twenty thousand yuan!” Dong Miaomiao’s voice neared breaking point.
20,000RMB might not be that big of a deal, but 20,000RMB just for that white fox’s one single meal was downright insane. Even worse, the white fox seemed all fine and dandy after eating that lingzhi. It was known that humans could never eat that much lingzhi in one sitting. A continuous nosebleed was one of the milder effects, while a much more severe consequence was when one’s body failed to handle the herb’s properties.
Damn! That was no white fox; that was a fox spirit!
