Just got the new MacBook Air and its actually really nice. It definitely made my translating experience so much better. MediumPlate has already gotten burnt out since last week– told me that if they see the word “Shen Man” again, they will go crazy.

Aunt He was preparing breakfast.

Shen Man sat at the dining table, waiting, but there was still no sign of Lin Shu.

She was about to get up to call her over when Aunt He hurriedly stopped her and said, “Miss Lin gets angry if she’s woken up, so let her sleep a little longer.”

Shen Man looked at the time, and there was still another hour to spare. Since it wasn’t urgent, she sat back down and ate breakfast.

10 minutes later, Lin Shu’s door finally opened and she quickly ran out.

“Why didn’t anyone wake me up? Do you want to make me late?” Lin Shu complained while pouting.

Aunt He immediately apologized and assured her. Putting a bowl of porridge in front of Lin Shu, she said, “Miss Lin, I’m so sorry. I will definitely wake you up next time.”

Shen Man watched quietly.

For Aunt He, this must be a daily occurrence and her words are just to be polite.

After having breakfast, Shen Man went back to her room to get her schoolbag.

There’s still half an hour before class starts. So, Shen Man sat in the living room and after waiting two minutes, she headed towards Lin Shu’s room.

Her door wasn’t closed properly and through the crack, Shen Man saw Lin Shu carefully choosing a dress.

She knocked on the door and raised her voice, “Eldest miss, what are you doing? We need to go to school.”

When Lin Shu heard her, she thought for a second with pursed lips before deciding to open the door. “Come in,” she told Shen Man.

With a smile, Shen Man stepped into the room and quickly looked around.

Lin Shu’s room was designed like a fairytale princess’s.

It was decorated in romantic, cute pink with laces and bows as decorations. There was even a cabinet dedicated to displaying various dolls and other items.

What’s most eye-catching was a human sized plush doll.

Shen Man took a closer look and discovered that the plush was somewhat worn out, with stitches on its arms and legs.

It must have been bought a long time ago.

“This is so cute, where did you buy it?” Shen Man asked with a smile.

Hearing this, Lin Shu looked at her plush doll with complicated emotions in her eyes, “My dad bought this.”

Then with a lost expression, she added, “It’s the first birthday present he gave me.”

Shen Man looked at her and remembered what Aunt He said.

Lin Shu really is a wealthy heiress who lacks love.

No matter how good her living conditions are, no matter how much money Mr. Lin gave her, it would not fill up the void in her heart.

With people like her, after they taste a bit of love, they get paranoid and terrified of losing it.

Towards the end of the novel, Lin Shu succumbs to her crazy paranoia because of not being able to have love.

‘Hello? What are you thinking about?” Lin Shu said loudly as she picked up a white dress by her side. She put it in front of her body and excitedly asked, “Look at this dress, how does it look on me?”

Shen Man snapped back to reality and carefully observed. Using a professional tone, she said, “This white dress is too plain and does not match with the bright makeup you put on today.”

“Really?” Lin Shu put down the dress and picked up a black one next to it, “What about this one?”

“The color is too dark. With the hot weather today, it will absorb light and make you sweat.” Shen Man replied.

Lin Shu immediately put that down and picked up a third dress.

In the end, a total of ten dresses were shown to Shen Man, but she rejected them all with various different reasons.

“I don’t even have wearable dresses now….” Lin Shu muttered bitterly.

Shen Man looked at the hundreds of designer clothing in her closet: “………”

“What do you think I should wear?” Lin Shu worriedly asked.

“A white shirt with a short skirt would be nice.” Shen Man replied.

This was what Lin Shu wore when they first met. It had a big visual impact on her and she still couldn’t get the picture out of her mind.

“I already wore it before, how can I wear the same thing again?” Lin Shu glared at Shen Man with her cheeks puffed up. “Today, I will sit next to Shao Qi so I must wear the most beautiful outfit so that he will notice me.”

Shen Man’s eyes deepened. She chuckled, walking over to Lin Shu’s side and reached into the closet. From there, she pulled out a red sleeveless dress and said, “Here, try this one.”

“It looks ordinary” Lin Shu muttered, but nevertheless she still took the dress and went to the bathroom to change.

She conveniently had a bathroom in her room.

Lin Shu quickly changed and went out.

Pulling on the end of the fabric on her dress with delicate fingers, she looked at herself in the mirror and turned her body from side to side. Unsure, she nervously asked, “Do you think I look good in this dress?”

“Of course! In my heart, Shushu is the most beautiful girl on earth.”

With a smile, Shen Man approached Lin Shu from behind and wrapped her arms around Lin Shu’s slender waist. Her hot breath tickled Lin Shu’s sensitive neck and she subconsciously shrank back.

The breath seemed to pierce through Lin Shu’s skin and into her heart, making it beat uncontrollably.

The body temperature of another person enveloped Lin Shu, with nowhere for her to escape.

She raised her head and met eyes with Shen Man through the mirror. Those smiling eyes flashed with the same burning heat as that night, as if they were going burn into her body.

Lin Shu’s heart skipped a beat.

Heat filled all parts of her body, penetrating every pore and left her pale, tender face flushing crimson.

After a while, Lin Shu finally regained her senses.

Pushing Shen Man with both hands, she blushed and angrily asked, “Why are you so close to me?”

Shen Man chuckled and let go, showing an innocent expression, “Who made Shushu this cute?”

Lin Shu humphed and and checked her makeup.

Shen Man stood besides her with a playful smile hanging on her face.

A honk of a car came from outside.

Lin Shu immediately ran to the balcony and waved at the person outside.

Shen Man glanced at the car and saw that the driver was Tan Kai, so the two went down together.

As Shen Man pressed the elevator button, she asked, “Where’s your personal driver?”

“I already have Tan Kai and he picks me up everyday.” Lin Shu proudly answered.

“When I get my driver’s license, I’ll be the one picking you up everyday.” Shen Man said in a low, deep voice.

Her face was deceptively beautiful and even ordinary sentences would become heavy promises if it came out of her lips.

Seeing her eyes, Lin Shu’s heart tightened and she subconsciously turned her head away to touch up her appearance.

Shen Man laughed softly.

When dealing with this girl with no love experience, any affectionate look or ambiguous words from her would make her feel embarrassed.

Lin Shu took the lead to leave the elevator first.

She breathed a sigh of relief and strode over to Tan Kai’s car.

When Tan Kai saw the two approaching, he gave them a hearty smile, “Come in, I’ll take you to school.”

“Thank you” Shen Man said with a gentle smile as she got in the back seat.

Lin Shu chose the passenger seat.

Tan Kai was confused and asked, “You used to always sit in the back, why sit in front today?”

“I just feel like it,” Lin Shu replied arrogantly with her head held high. She looked at Shen Man’s smiling eyes and averted her gaze.

“Ok, ok, you can sit anywhere you want.” Tan Kai answered and immediately started the car.

It only took five minutes to drive to school.

It was a grand place, and every building was designed with luxurious style of the wealthy.

It was certainly a beautiful sight to behold.

The campus was filled with rich young men and beautiful women.

Lin Shu dressed up specially for today, bewitching many passersby with her appearance.

Many students had stopped to look over in envy and amazement.

Lin Shu casually enjoyed these gazes and proudly said to Shen Man, “Look, it seems I’m more popular.”

Just as she finished her sentence, a scream broke out from the crowd, “Oh my god, isn’t that the School Flower Shen Man? How can someone be this good-looking, she’s just like a fairy!”

Hearing this, Shen Man gave a gentle smile and nodded her head slightly to greet the crowd.

“Ahhh, when the fairy smiles, she’s even more captivating!”

“She’s so beautiful, smart, and gentle…”

Compliments came one after another while Lin Shu was being completely ignored.

Her pretty face darkened and she glared at Shen Man unwillingly, “They’re blind to think that you’re prettier than me.”

“I also think Shushu is prettier than me.” Shen Man agreed good-naturedly.

Lin Shu choked and her expression became even uglier.

Tan Kai smiled and tried to ease the atmosphere.

“One is the gentle Bai Yueguang and the other is the unresistable cinnabar mole in everyone’s hearts. You both are equally beautiful.”

“There’s no equally beautiful, one has to be prettier.” Shen Man hooked the corners of her mouth in a grin.

Tan Kai was taken aback and looked at Lin Shu.

“I won’t lose,” Lin Shu replied with a humph, her almond eyes filled with provocation.

Shen Man chuckled in response and stared back.

Lin Shu gave up first and dragged Tan Kai to the classroom while Shen Man followed from behind.

The classroom already had quite a few people and the tables were put in pairs of two, neatly lined up in rows.

Lin Shu went in from the back and happily went to grab a corner seat.

Tan Kai looked at Shen Man and combed his short hair with his fingers in embarrassment. He smiled and asked, “Shen Man, where will you be sitting?”

“I’ll sit in front of Lin Shu,” Shen Man smiled back as she already knew this boy wanted to sit next to her, “You can sit with Lin Shu.”

Lin Shu immediately refused, “I’m saving this seat for Shao Qi.”

Without a word, Tan Kai sat in that spot.

“Tan Kai, go away, I don’t want to sit with you.” Lin Shu tried to push him off, but Tan Kai was not budging.

Looking at them, Shen Man’s smiled got deeper.

Suddenly, the classroom went silent and everyone looked towards the door.

Shen Man followed their gaze.

A tall, thin figure was standing at the door of the classroom.

He was dressed in black and was very handsome. His expression was cold and uncaring.

“Ahhhh, it’s Shao Qi! He looks so cool in black!”

“No wonder he’s the School Grass, this cold temperament is way too touching.”

The whole class erupted into many different discussions.

Shen Man looked around to see many blushing girls with stars in their eyes. The whole class looked like they were chasing after a celebrity.

“Shao Qi is so handsome,” Lin Shu exclaimed from behind her. Shen Man’s face sank when she heard this and she crossed eyes with Shao Qi.

Under everyone’s surprised gaze, he sat down next to Shen Man.
