Succubus Homeland, Research facility
Mathematicians concluded in the mid-1900s, and that was that humans were really bad at following set rules. Most of our greatest innovations all came from mistakes made when we were researching something else. Countless innovations came from people who were willing to break the rules and try new things, antibiotics, dyes, male enhancement pills, there were countless. This all started to change in the '50s though, that was because computers started to come into existence.
What would happen if you only followed a set amount of rules and nothing else? This was how computers came into existence as a concept, and we spent a lifetime designing better ways to interact with them. Fundamentally, all they did was follow instructions, and nothing else. This was exactly what Rex wanted to exploit about machines, it was their ability to figure out shapes.
A machine sees the world as information, it first has to break it all down into math, this was how they worked fundamentally. If you placed a bottle of water on a table and asked a machine and a human to figure out its volume. If the machine had the proper algorithms, it could tell you everything about the bottle's weight, mass, and density without ever touching it.
Every single shape could be defined by an equation, tool paths were a prime example of this. Imagine you have a giant block of stone, and you need to carve a statue. A machine does this by projecting an image of what it is carving into the stone, a good example would be Rex. If the machine was doing this with a drill, and it had a human form as an example, It would calculate everywhere that the bit was able to cut and get it as close as possible.
If Rex needed to calculate all of these cuts manually with each bit, it would take months to design a single part. This is why he was designing a calculator to do it for him. This was a project he was expecting to take him months, and he just didn't have time currently. Setting the blueprint down on his table, he sighed sadly. To maximize space, she was planning to make the enchantment out of sections that formed a sphere, like an onion. All so he could maximize the enchanting space possible.
Looking behind him, he could see a group of very excited dwarves, 15 of them in total. Even Guffrey had stopped what he was doing to look at the machine after he had gotten a report on it. To make the mill function, he was forced to build it similar to how the elves did the controls for the ship. The mill head and depth were completely controlled by the operator, in this case, it was an old gray-haired dwarf. Earlier a succubus had used it to create some parts to replace the enchanted bolts in the succubus guns, for traditional ones.
The bit was cold iron alloyed with tungsten, it was utter garbage compared to dark iron, but he hadn't had time to conduct any tests on making dark iron. These bit's were also a bit easier to create, currently, they needed to be turned on a lathe that was modified with a milling cutter. Once it was roughly shaped, it was ground to finish on a thin grinding wheel. They were very tedious to make, as dark iron dust was used to make the grinding wheels.
“This is even more incredible than the last machine you made!” Guffrey said as he walked up with a large smile on his face.
The dwarves all had a deep appreciation for anything that allowed for a better standard of living. This mill already was an amazing achievement, it allowed the user to directly use their mana to control the milling head. Maneuvers that were impossible with dials, were now easily done through sheer will.
“It's okay, I guess...” Rex said with a bit of disappointment.
“Only okay?! Then what on this island could ever be acceptable?!” Guffrey asked in shock to his exclamation.
Rex looked at his creation with despise, that was because he couldn't use it!
“This machine requires mana as a foundation to operate, it also takes a skilled user who knows what he is doing.” Rex told the dwarf in exasperation. “This is the opposite of what I wanted.”
“Then what were you trying to build?” The dwarf asked in shock.
“In the modern era, skill is overrated, I shouldn't have to be good at anything.” Rex told the dwarf. “The thing we lack most is skilled people or just people in general!”
Under normal circumstances, he may have been happy with a creation like this, but it was useless to him. Even the design was bad, he only kept it with a motor-mounted carriage to reuse the old mill he created. A robotic arm that could actuate made way more sense, but it would have been a nightmare to create and program with enchanting. It would have also meant creating an absurd amount of different technology he just didn't have yet.
This had been more of a proof of concept, to see if he could work out how the elven control system worked, and if he could improve it. The problem he ran into was that he didn't have any mana, this meant Shaya had to operate the machinery. Watching the little succubus with a determined expression reminded him of Kira when she was young. It had only been a few years since then, but it felt like just yesterday to him.
“Aren't you just angry that you can't use it?” Guffrey asked the teenaged Rex, who replied with a scowl.
One of his bushy eyebrows had peeled off, revealing the dark brown hairs. The other eyebrow was still stuck on and would require pulling off some of the new eyebrows to get it off. This meant that it hung on partially, and he still wore the wig because Borscht still hadn't regrown the fur on his back. In short, he looked even more ridiculous than usual, this wasn't helped by his foul mood.
As long as it could speak, Rex could understand it, the cost was that he had no other mana in his body. In the beginning, this had been convenient, but now almost everyone spoke English. The only one who couldn't be a female scorpion woman who worked in the textile plant, but she had learned the succubus sign language using her tail. It was so useless he wanted to get rid of it, this was all thanks to the succubi being able to learn and teach the language quickly.
“What would your ideal version of this machine look like?” Guffrey asked him with curiosity.
Rex looked over at the mill, and an image over-layed it. Robotic arms had been the new factory standard when it came to machining, and this was no different. Rex would want several of them to control different tools. The entire machine would be able to run off whatever format Rex decided to use. Currently, he was thinking of programming the instructions using something similar to a cassette tape.
“Ideally the entire machine would be able to run by itself, with the need of a user to do more than load the stock, and maybe change a drilling or milling bit. I am a bit far from this dream, at least I will need a lot longer to research it.” Rex explained simply.
“You mean it can operate without a craftsman?! That's possible?” Guffrey asked in shock.
“Yeah, this is just the beginning. This is just the first step toward something much bigger.” Rex told the dwarf seriously.
While this was certainly an incredibly useful discovery, it would only improve the output of a worker. What Rex had been trying to do was to completely replace the worker, but he could see uses for this kind of control system when it came to the oil refinery, and all of its various systems for refining different chemicals. That was because the user only needed to inject their mana through a control rod, and the system took care of the rest. According to Shaya, it was like discovering a new limb she could control with practice.
Lunas and Greko would be finishing their training today, this was also when he was going to talk to Kira. He had spent the last week pampering her into a very good mood, he just really hoped he could get through to her.
“Something on your mind, your expression seems a bit dark?” Guffrey asked him.
“Yeah, I am worried about Kira.” Rex told the dwarf honestly.
“About what? She is quite capable.” Guffrey responded.
“I feel like she is a bit too arrogant sometimes, I am really worried that is going to get her hurt. She is also the leader of the succubi now, and a lot of them like to emulate her. I just don't think it is good for their race, they are just learning how to be more than just man-eaters.” Rex sighed out sadly.
“You seem worried about them.” Guffrey said.
When he thought about how they were when he first got her, and how much they had been able to change, he realized it was like watching them grow up. Even now a lot of them were all still trying to find their places in this new succubus society they were creating. It also didn't hurt that every single one of them was very attractive, this was something he had to deal with for years.
This thought dragged his eyes to his dark blue bracelet, then he slowly drew his line of sight to his balls.
I wonder which is bluer?
Rex smiled sadly, as his vision returned to the balding dwarf. Guffrey was looking at him with a slightly disgusted expression, Rex realized he had been smiling at his crotch right in front of him. Rex cleared his throat as he tried to change the topic.
“So how has the construction on the weapons facility been going?” Rex asked him with a shaky smile.
Guffrey cleared his throat, as he shook his head to clear his thoughts out.
“It's been going well, the new explosives help. We should finish moving all the dirt faster than we expected. We have been piling it all up near the refinery as you asked for. Part of the tunnel connecting to the refinery has already been dug out.” Guffrey said as he recalled all of the reports he got recently.
Rex sighed as he compared the status of their subordinates, so far he only really had Bob and the work crew. Things would be changing greatly in a week, as all of the various factions would come together. This would be when they begin meeting to form a constitution to control the island. Currently, they weren't having too many issues, and all of the troublemakers were usually killed on the spot if it was something worth punishing.
I want to change that.
The succubi had officially started guarding the island, and they were slowly learning how to do it properly. This was another reason Kira had been so busy, she was the one in charge of figuring out how to train them all. Rex told her what he knew, but most of it was from movies or stories from the former service members in the arms plant. While he had experience shooting guns, he had no formal training.
“Well, I have to head home to Kira. You guys have fun with the mill.” Rex told them, as he walked over and began packing a bag with blueprints.
Guffrey looked over at the milling machine with a gleam in his eye, like a child who saw a new toy.
“I think I will give the mill a try, then I will probably get back to work at the hall.” Guffrey said with a slight smile.
Rex returned a smile to him, at least he could enjoy the damn thing.

Elven Capital City, The throne room
An elf with long blonde hair and bright green eyes sat on a large throne in leisure. The room did not reek of opulence as one would expect, it was fairly plain by elven standards. The floor was a newly installed hardwood, that reflected the light brightly. This was the remains of the elven divine tree, the throne's occupant had the remains of it turned into flooring.
The walls were bare, with large slanted windows that let in a large amount of light. Light green curtains stood wide open against the light brown walls. The guards in the room all wore a full suit of plate armor that hid all of their features, with only a thin slit to see through. The armor was much larger than one would expect and was covered in a dense series of enchanted runes.
The throne was not elevated as one would expect, and it was the largest furniture in the room, it was a relic of the high elves. A large wooden desk that matched the floor stood in front of the desk with various paperwork scattered about. An elven woman wearing a flawless white dress and a veil over dark drown hair stood a distance away, she was the only woman in the room. Currently, she was reporting about her recent findings.
“I am now convinced that the divine tree was indeed a relic left behind by the Fleural race before they went extinct. The roots lead to a large crystal structure I believe to have been formed from tree sap.” Alysandri reported calmly, then her tone took on a manic quality. “I can't figure out what is inside the structure, but I am certain that the tree was drawing the life out of it!”

Dryfys smiled as he got this information, destroying the tree had been a gamble, but it had paid off.
“Any progress on opening it up?” Dryfys asked her with impatience.
“Not yet, but I won't stop until I crack it open!” She said with some anger.
The flueral were a race that evolved from plants, they were said to wield a massive flower as a weapon. They were able to create a variety of different poisons and attacked with long thorn-covered vines. Not much was known about them except their incredible ability to engineer life. Through her research, Alysandri had discovered that they might have helped to create the skaarm and beastmen from monsters on the continent.
By the time that the demons had arrived, they had already gone mostly extinct. This was due to a large change in the environment that caused the flow of mana to be reduced for a long period. This had only recently started to change about 7 years ago when the level of mana started to rise again.
“Illisayd, have all of the demon's spies been rooted out?” He asked with a savage smile.
“Yes, Isadora has done an incredible service to our country! She has been awarded a commendation, and has even been recommended to join the council.” Illisayd said with a gleam in his eye.
Illisayd had short white hair and a stoic face, he had been taught(brainwashed) since a young age that his clan was more important than his own life, it was a pity that he was born so powerful. He was a snow elf, and he looked to be middle-aged. The reason for his interest in Isadora was due to the constant badgering from his family. His mother loved the beauty products that Isadora's store sold, all of the elven women did.
Her shop was one of the prime gathering places for wealthy elven women, and his mother was one of them. While Isadora was not as wealthy as a lot of other families, she was very well connected. This meant that Illisayd's family had changed the target of his marriage.
“I think it is time to turn up the pressure on the beasts, I want to conquer them within a year.” Dryfys ordered to the gathered elves.

Succubus Homeland, Rex and Kira's house
Rex had just gotten home and set down his bag. The house was empty, Kira hadn't gotten home yet. Rex leaned down and undid the laces on his boots, slipping them off his feet. Standing up he sighed deeply, as he walked over and grabbed a plastic bag filled with biscuits that he had made that morning. The kitchen resembled something from a one-bedroom apartment, it had a small metal stove that was enchanted and a fridge.
Opening the door of the fridge he grabbed a jar of preserves made from a berry that grew on the island. His dinner would be a few biscuits smothered in jam, with a few pieces of coconut cheese. If he was feeling festive he would sprinkle some of the assorted nuts on them. This meal had also been his breakfast and his lunch.
An image of a giant cheeseburger covered in bacon and green chili appeared in his mind and almost brought him to tears. He had disdained greasy food back on earth, this was because he had worked fast food when he was going to college. Remembering the golden arches that he had walked into every day when he was studying for his associates was a good memory for him now.
The only thing in the fridge that belonged to Kira was her water that was stored in bottles on the top shelf. She had insisted she get a place in the fridge too, even if that was all she had to put in it. Many jars of different jams were stored in a small standing pantry next to the fridge. The fridge mostly was used to store cheeses and the very rare fish that they caught for him. This was because there weren't many in the waters around the island, but they were starting to come back now that the sharks were gone.
Rex walked over to the living room and set the bag and jar of jam on the counter, a few pieces of cheese sat on top of the bag. Walking over to the fireplace, he reached down and set some tinder and wood together. How did they start fires in the Otem household? The answer was white phosphorous.
Grabbing a bottle that was stored in a metal box in a corner of the room, he pulled out the metal tweezers that were attached to the side. The bottle was filled with ethanol to submerge a white, waxy substance. Using the tweezers, he reached into the fluid and broke off a small piece of the white waxy substance. Rex shook the excess ethanol off and blew on it till it started to smoke. He quickly placed it into the tinder before it burst into flames and began issuing sparks that caught the surrounding wood on the fire.
A normal person would never dare to do this if they knew how toxic the smoke released by white phosphorus was, but neither of the inhabitants of the house cared. Rex sat down on the couch as he watched the fire. He opened the bag and realized his mistake instantly.
“I forgot to grab a spoon!” Rex said angrily at himself.
Looking across the house to the kitchen, a thought crossed his mind.
“It is so far away...” Rex said lazily from the couch.
Looking at the jar in front of him, a thought crossed his mind. Reaching over he grabbed the jar and opened it up to reveal the fruity purple jam, using his finger he began to spread the jam on his biscuits. Using his mouth to clean it off he then poked his blue bracelet.
“Blue?” He asked it.
The bracelet started to liquefy, as it soon coated his sticky finger. A flash of bright colors appeared for a brief moment before steam started being released from the slime. Rex waited patiently for it to finish before he was left with a perfectly clean digit. He was really lucky that his fingernails didn't seem to melt as his hair did, or he would have had a rough time.
Rex began to mechanically eat the biscuit and jam, as he watched the fire burn in the fireplace. A large rocket launcher with a blast cover sat on top of the mantle. Looking around he could see shelves with various figurines that Kira had cast when she was younger, she also had lots of guns displayed as Kera did. Several large bookshelves took up part of a wall and were the constant work of Rex writing down everything that he knew.
Looking over at the bottle on the shelf of white phosphorous, he was reminded of a building he wished didn't exist on the island.

Succubus Homeland, Repository of the Great Weapon
A large room was constructed underground in the back of the weapons factory that the succubi ran, the one that was being rebuilt, but this building would always remain in the heart of every succubus! This was the repository where the great weapon of the succubi was made and stored. The room was entirely sealed underground, and the walls were coated in a thick layer of plastic to prevent any leaks.
The center of the room was opened into a large pool that had a thick gel-like fluid at the bottom. A thin layer of liquid coating the surface of this liquid. 20 succubi sat around this pool as if they were in deep meditation, that was because this was a sacred place for all of the succubi at the weapons factory. Not a single one of the succubi spoke a single word, that was because the room was filled with thick nitrogen gas.
To enter this room required passing through an airlock, it replaced all of the oxygen in the room with pure nitrogen. Past that was a large bathroom that the succubi took time to drain and fill each day. It was not used for cleaning off chemicals at the end of the day, it was meant to purify their bodies before they began the holy work of producing the great weapon.
This was a building that Rex never wanted to exist in, but he was forced to in the end. These were the original 20 succubi that had started making weapons for him under Kira's orders. This was the only way to ensure that the succubi would continue working for him! They kept on protesting unless he could come up with some better weapons for them, and his insistence on making it seem so mysterious lead to this almost religious zeal in it.
Every one of the 20 succubi had a deadly serious expression with closed eyes, as they sat cross-legged in their white dresses. They even slept in barracks that were just past the bathroom. This was by their own insistence of course. They wanted to be ready the very second that their leader called for the fury of the great weapon of the succubi to be unleashed!
Why did Rex use white phosphorus to start a fire? It was because they had so much of it that these 20 succubi produced, they always kept enough stock to replace the giant pool of gel at a moment's notice. They took this job incredibly seriously and were the envy of every succubus. This was also why some succubi were always looking for ways to stand out, hence his guards.

Succubus Homeland, Rex and Kira's house
Rex had just finished eating when he heard the door open and looked over to see Kira come strutting into the house. Her shotgun hung at her side, and her golden gun was slung over her back. She and Kera had already gone shooting several times together, they practiced by shooting targets in the air. Trench warfare had been the method of fighting that Rex was familiar with, but this wasn't as effective for the succubi.
The beastmen, the demons, and the skaarm all had flying forces, these are what Rex was most worried about. The demons in particular had a lot of strange races that had even weirder ways of attacking, this made them harder to plan around.
Rex smiled at Kira as she walked into the living room and took her guns off, she placed them onto a small workbench in the living room. Every morning when Kira got up she would clean her weapons before she started her training.
“How was your day?” He asked her, as she sat next to him and began fiddling with her boots.
Kira smiled happily, as she began to tell him about it.
“Lunas has incredible accuracy, she can hit targets from almost as far away as I can.” She said happily before she suddenly had a sad look. “Greko on the other hand, has issues seeing things that are further than 200 yards. I don't think he could use anything but a shotgun.”
She said this with confusion before she turned her eyes to Rex, her boots now off to the side.
“I don't know what you see in the mousemen, wouldn't sending Doug back make more sense?” She asked him in confusion.
Rex smiled at her as she put her feet in Rex's lap, she had just bathed before she got home. Rex reached down and felt rough and thick callous that quickly retreated, and became soft and smooth. Kira had gotten new boots, but they were slightly too big. Growing her insoles was her answer to this problem using her transformation. She also claimed it made the texture of her foot richer when she pressed it on her enemy's face.
Her question finally registered in his mind and he paused. The image of Doug squaring up his shoulders as he held a round bar of steel. His large meaty hands and giant muscular arms flexed suddenly, and veins began to bulge from under his fur. His jaws were closed, but his lips peeled back as if he would start growling. This caused his face to deeply wrinkle like a man's nuts in cold water. The only exception was his eyes, they opened wide and began bulging out. The image of his eyes looking like they were about to pop out had been powerful to him. This lasted only a few seconds it took Doug to bend a 90-degree curve in the metal round stock, it was as thick as a pinky.
“That is easy, they still require large amounts of meat for their diets. The mousemen can also locate nitrates easily, they are natural farmers. They are also one of the largest clans of beastmen in the plains, it will be quite a force if Greko can gather it together.” Rex told her seriously. “They can then immediately start farming. I want to trade them weapons for food and metals, especially something that comes out of the ground between the forest and the swamp.”
“And what is that?” Kira asked him in curiosity.
“Gallium.” Rex told her as he began to massage her feet.
“What's that?” She asked, her face taking on a relaxed expression her tail calming down behind her as well.
“It has a lot of uses, mainly in making light. I also want to use it in my research for magical metals. They also have cinnabar near it and a source of silicone. It is quite a good area they have between them.” He told her, as he continued his massage on her feet.
Rex began to gather his courage up, he had carefully thought of how to explain things to Kira.
“Kira, we need to talk.” He told her with a serious expression.
